When I use my superOD there is a buzzing noise. Even with my gain low I still heard it. Once I got the noise suppresor it stopped. I only really need it when I'm stacking the distortions. If it's one at a time then I dont hear much.

Which one the whammy or the line 6?

I tried all of these and I couldnt ignore it, could hear it while I played and couldnt hear my bass if I turned down the volume too low. Seems like some FX's need to be at a certain level or they're drowned out

Guitar center really fucked me on this one. I sent an email the corporate supervisor who put the credit on my account informing him. Hopefully this puts pressure on them to send me a free Revstar or something.

I keep looking at this Squier '50s classic vibe Telecaster on the used market. I have to spend money elsewhere, though.

Anyone else see uncommon or weird boutique guitars and think why / how does someone choose to play something like that when good name brand guitars exist? You might have the worlds best playing best sounding guitar but if it has a fucked up headstock that says something like "Novo" on it then I'm going to completely disregard you as a guitar player and immediately put you in the poser zone.
>>
school me on Wenge necks and fretboards.
>>
>>128294829
Some are cool. Anderson guitars are killer, but I don't have the money. I can afford a nice Fender, so not complaining. But those are like the cost of 3 nice Fenders.
>>
>>128294833
Idk but this schecter has me jonesing. Only problem is the nut width of 1.625 otherwise this would be my next guitar. Tbh I might still buy it and just deal with the crammed nut for open chords. It's essentially the same neck that comes on the EVH wolfgangs, which I owned and could play but it was very crammed for stuff like one last breath where I'm doing a lot of intricate fingerpicking and fast chord changes. It has a wenge neck and natural ziricote body.

ultimate guitar is filled w rough drafts and shitty tabs unfortunately. your playing sounds very nice though :)
>>
>>128294829
I don't see how this is so important to people, vast majority can't tell one guitar brand from another
>>
>>128294869
i just can't get over how bad 99% of schecters look. i've owned one and it played great but man, they're ugly
>>
>>128294953
All of their guitars more or less adhere to the same dark metal aesthetic
>>
>>128295014
They used to be a Superstrat/modder company like Jackson and Charvel. These are the Schecters I tend to like.
I guess that one above is a mix of both aesthetics.
They also have Robert Smith's stuff. I guess it's still "dark", but gothy.
>>
>>128294953
That one looks fine to me, but it's the only schecter in their lineup I like. It's just a natural wood superstrat. Headstock is a bit goofy, but I like it better than any of the current charvel offerings.

>>128294952
Correct. Most people only know if you're playing a gibson or a fender and that's why 99% of guitarists should play a gibson or fender. Like it or not your image matters to people and will have an effect on how popular your band will get. To the average person they would likely assume that an Anderson or Novo is a chinesium knock off of fender not a more expensive boutique guitar. The only people you would impress with those are other musicians.
>>
>>128294829
It’s the same type of person that insists on only drinking boutique small batch craft beers. I’m not talking about the type of person that prefers a fat tire or Sam Adam’s over a coors light, but the type of person that only drinks “Appalachian swamp possum 9000 triple India pale ale seasonal small batch 14.7 ABV” thinking it will impress normies when all it does is impress other try hards.
>>
>>128294829
Tons of genuinely talented and humble artists out there but you’re busy being worried about what it says on their headstock? That's not what music is about dude.
>>
>>128295075
This is the stuff I would be posting on the net if I was a gibson sales rep
>>
>>128295223
It seems they’re the ones who are worried about what’s on their headstock if they’re spending 7000 dollars on a jm clone. I haven’t really seen anyone who plays one of those guitars that does anything interesting or creative with it. It’s mostly guys like Rhett shull who make boutique and vintage gear their entire personality. And let’s be honest nobody says “wow Rhett shull, he’s a fantastic musician.” It’s usually “Rhett shull the YouTube shill that makes clickbait videos?” So maybe that feeds into my negative perception of boutique brands.
>>
>>128295223
he’s right tho. other musicians, producers, and labels actually are worried about what it says on the headstock

If I buy a guitar body with a neck pocket cut for a Fender neck, and buy a complete neck from someone like Warmouth, will the guitar be able to be set up when assembled no problem or will it need final fret work? I want to put together a parts caster and the one thing I don’t know how to do is fret work. I want to buy a complete neck that can just drop on.
>>
>>128296021
I’ve never had a problem with a warmoth neck (I’ve had 4), maybe 1-2 slightly high frets. not enough to cause buzzing but detectable on a rocker. highly recommend getting the graphite rod upgrade tho you’ll basically have to adjust the truss rod once every 5 years.
>>
>>128296021
They rarely ever fit without any problems, usually you have to sand the neck pocket to get it to fit properly in my experience. Best to buy the body and the neck from the same manufacturer if you can, if not it's not a big deal just some extra steps. Also make sure the body is the same heel type as the neck (strat vs tele)

Last night I kept getting unknown callers. They would stay on the line, breathing. Than hang up. This morning got a text from work asking me why I came in on my off day. I didn't though? I realized... My heart sank. He's doing it again. My Sweetwater rep got his hands on another custom lifelike rubber mask of my face. He's out of prison on good behaviour, and he's going around acting like he's me. He's trying to become me. He reconciled the relationship with my ex wife and shes been calling wanting to give it another try. He's aggressively making accomplishments I never could. Almost like he's saying, "I'm better at being you than you are...". I'm starting to question if I'm even real. If HE deserves to be me, the real me...
>>
>>128295774
I like the OC5 a lot. I don't use the lower octave that much but the higher octave they have sounds good with my distortion setup. Mixed with the whammy sometimes I get this super heavy sound that initially sounds like a guitar
>>
Think I’m going to go with a black Revstar, but I’m going to replace the tuners with graph tech ratio locking in black, bridge with graph tech string saver tune o matic in black, and tailpiece with a black or gotoh, whatever I can find that fits. Probably going to go with Les Paul speed knobs. Should make it extremely stable tuning wise and will look and sound better. I think those things will solve every hesitation I have about the Revstar and make it feel more premium.

>>
>>128296260
I like the body shape. I don’t like the brushed nickel chinesium hardware. Seeing as it has stainless frets I’ll only have to get it professionally set up once and then it should be solid for a long time. The bridge will help the tuning stability and resonance and the tuners will make tuning / restringing a breeze. Only other thing people say suck are the knobs so I’ll have to do some research and find out which ones are drop in and look good.
>>
>>128296257

Might be a good idea to order some black chrome screws for the pickups and pick guard. Only thing left that will be chrome is are the pickup covers but I’ll wait on that to see how it contrasts. Should look really neat.

They didn't need truss rods except for modern design. The nylon/gut strings of old instruments never exerted that much pressure. That design turned out to be shit when steel string guitars popped up. Funnily, Martin didn't even keep up with the times until like the 70s. That was when they first included truss rods. So if you ever got money to blow, getting a vintage Martin is a bigger gamble than other stuff.

>>
>>128296760
Gotta be a Gretsch Penguin my guy. That guitar was basically designed for you.
>>
>>128296770
Yeah. And to their and Martin's defense, they tend to use quartersawn or better wood. Which would be more resistant.
Now we have electrics that are like quartersawn and double truss graphite reinforced. It's all over-engineered..but I'll take it. Can't go wrong at least.
>>
>>128296476
My SheratonII has 57 Classics, upgraded wiring and tuning machines. It's a beast.
>>
>>128296798
Whoa tell me more about the history of quartersawn wood used in martin guitars. I'm in the edge of my seat. And how many layers do they usually use in laminated tops, do they glue them together? Where do they source their glue? Do they make it in house?
>>
>>128296798
you could totally get by with 3 graphite reinforcement rods and no truss rod but that requires making sure the neck angle, fretboard, and frets are all shaped accurately which is far too much work and liability for manufacturers. even the 40s martins that used ebony rods or t bars very rarely had relief problems. it was the top and sides of the guitar caving in after decades of string tension. I also like the graphite reinforced necks because you typically don’t have to retune the instrument during temperature and humidity changes

I guess I do. As trees and as lumber.
Guitar strings are putting at least 150 lbs pressure on the neck. That's like a little manlet sitting on your neck at all times. It's a good idea to have strong wood.

It’s a cadd9, extremely common chord voicing. Doesn’t have to have the high e string in it but you can either play it open or fretted on the third fret of high e as well. The pre-chorus of plus uses this chord, as well as the verse in sweet home Alabama a ton of Van Halen and AC/DC stuff.

for guitar classical position makes sense because guitar is ergonomically a nightmare. for a p bass I have the strap set to where the bass doesn’t move at all if I go from sitting to standing and use the forearm contour as an arm rest. I play 4-5 hours a day every day with no problems and have perfect textbook left hand technique. for guitar it’s the complete opposite, the guitar digs into my forearm or hurts my shoulder and my fretting wrist is under constant flexion and my tendons hurt after a few hours
>>

>4-5 hours a day every day

no just disabled (not that disabled anon) and generalized anxiety disorder. 1 hour is highly structured practice to metronome etc, another hour and a half is just holding it in my lap and subconsciously working on technique while I read or watch tv, and 2 hours is just playing/learning a song/noodling. my father in law has been playing piano for 30 years and we jam once a week/church gigs/weddings

>>128300024
They're cheap strings and there are better, longer lasting options, some of which is feel and preference on a given instrument, but higher grade strings do last longer and don't get fucky as fast. It's like buying cheapo classical strings at the music store. they don't last and one string may or may not be a nightmare the whole time you have them. Luckily the equivalent of the G string is usually wound, although it does sound a little weird being wound and clear is an option that has the same problem if done wrong.
>>
>>128300158
yeah no shit. I googled a bit and found that that's a common problem with Ibanez basses

>>128300024
also, you tend to run oud strings a long time, long after they'd be "dead" on a spanish guitar, because that's the sound, and you want them to hold up before they get the fucky funk that throws intonation off.
>>
>>128300184

>>
>>128297342
I ruined anything that wasn't song practice mode when this came out because I didn't understand what an amp was or cabs nor signal chain and made a giga-abomination setup.
The modeled sounds aren't actually bad which is surprising.
I'm just mad that rocksmith seems to have relatively low latency but I have to buy a DAW or input to use amplitube or tonex without 500ms lag.
>>
>>128300237
there are some things I need to practice every day because I’m very advanced at it or it’s just good to do so (finger plucking speed, ghost note accentuation, timing) but honestly I can not touch the bass for a few days and still see progress. so, I’m definitely overdoing it; you could practice 30 mins twice a day and have the same results as I do, but you have to be more selective about what you practice. I like to really analyze and learn what’s going on in basslines I like and that can sometimes take two hours and not much physical work gets done. I actually quit for like 4 months one time but was still really listening to music and my ear was better when I picked it back up
>>
>>128299945
Mostly 1. Jazzmasters have the superior ergonomics for sitting or standing.
>>
>>128297253
I would argue that a lot of professional classical and jazz guitarists are at a level that most rock guitarists would never come close to, technically speaking
>>
>>128300344
no question that true classical players are the most technically proficient, but they’re also specialists and that comes with drawbacks. that probably puts jazzers at #1 but they are so up their own ass sometimes that what they play is not enjoyable
>>
>>128300344
I figured if there was an honest top 100 list of people who listen to the full extent of guitarists, only 2 or so rock musicians would be in the top 10 and the top 20 wouldn't include most of the usual lists.

I sold a mk5 for 1200 2 years ago they can be had on marketplace for cheap. Not on reverb you have to look locally for someone who needs the cash. Speaking of which I found this and he will take 800 so whenever the gc fiasco funds hit my account I’m gonna buy it. I figure out if the two if it’s between a black Revstar and a black studio the studio is the better guitar and has a nitro finish. Will upgrade the bridge and tuners on that too.

What's wrong with making a wiki entry anyways. Better than "I know a guy who can name 30 Mesa players"

Reverb largely shapes the resale market whether you like it or not. Guitar center's used mark v heads look to all be $1,700+ as well.

There’s plenty of them that have sold for sub 1200 dollars in the 90 watt variant on reverb. Again it’s what they sell for not what people ask.

is this another meme like Ibanez where it’s only good if you buy one specific model that’s $3000?
>>
>>128300972
Lower wattage lunchbox heads aren't the same as full sized heads. Not sure how this is rocket science.
>>
>>128300837
You have it ordered right, as for settings just play around with it
>>
>>128300987
There’s a fucking 90 in that pic for 1100 smooth brain.
>>
>>128300943
Oh sorry it didn’t cap the price. There were 3 or 4 90w combos sold for 1000-1200 dollars recently. Either way they can be had.
