My hands hurt so I'm taking an hour break to finish reading the hobbit. book 2 starts on page 53 I'm'm on 35 now so my goal is to get to book 2 before the end of the month. I've been getting faster at learning these songs and this is more entertaining than tabs at the moment. Struggling with just about every song I'm trying to learn but book work has paid off so glass half full.

You can always get a fender neck on the second hand market. Facebook marketplace might even have something on the low.
>>
>>128302549
I've got a warmoth neck on my partscaster and it's excellent
be aware that if you prefer super low action it will require fret leveling and such

Whoa
>>
>>128302549
How old is the squier? If it was before CNC became really cheap the fitment might be less than ideal but warmoth are great necks. I would do it. Highly recommend spring the extra $75 for the graphite rods

They’re very good out of the box but they aren’t beam leveled no. Equivalent to MIA fender imo I’ve owned a lot of both and leveled them myself

I believe the 1000 series guitars are the same specs as the Japanese esp’s but made in Korea. There are two tiers below the 1000. They’re good, but they don’t feel like a Les Paul. They feel like a metal guitar. I had a gold top EC for awhile.

They’re fine but again they’re not going to feel like a Les Paul they’re going to feel like an import metal guitar. They’re thinner and have thinner necks and their wiring is geared toward super high gain stuff. To me they feel like every other Ltd / esp I’ve played and nothing like a Gibson.

Why is there not a singing general?
Or is singing different than guitar where you actually should take lessons
>>
>>128304139
You’ll be singing the major scale and doing stretches for the first 6 months so it’s exactly like guitar
>>
>>128302905
>buy $300-500 upper level Squire (these will be really top notch at that price point)
>buy $300-400 Mexican Fender neck or splurge $500-700 for American neck

You'll have a Mexican for $500-700 or an "American" partscaster for under $1k or spend $2-3k on the real thing.
>>
>>128304139
Good singers were singing since they were little and not even taking it seriously. I think many only later find a vocal coach so as not to hurt themselves and be more efficient.
>>
>>128303273
Do you sound good or are you just a wanker?
>>
>>128304174
You can buy a 2000's era American made Fenders for like $900. Just search Fender American Series or Fender American Standard and look at what they actually sell for. Reverb even made a YouTube video about it a few months ago.
>>
>>128304614
>used and banged
>from the worst fucking era
might aswell just get a new one with a proper neck which is all that matters anyways, modern technology has allowed budget brands to catch up, that squire body will be on par with the real deal.
>>
>>128304639
An American Fender from their worst era is still better than an Indonesian Fender. But I can't stop you from being a poser if that's what you really want to do.
>>
>>128305036
Not sure about that. A lot of 80s Fenders used the same wood as Indos do nowadays (Poplar bodies), and stupidly redesigned them where they only had two knobs. Among other bad ideas like shitty new trems. And these days, the CNC process of the modern Indo guitar will be more consistent.
Japan was kicking their ass.. enough to make Fender employees here bummed out apparently. Employees eventually all teamed up with investors and re-purchased the company from CBS to bring it back to what they wanted. Which is where we're at now (one of those investors was Servco, who now has the majority stake).
>>
>>128305036
nigga buying an American Fender is the real poser move when literally any Fender is being built by Mexicans or Indonesians.
If you actually valued quality you'd get some better alternative or have a guitar built by a luthier for around the same price.
Instead you'll opt to spend a grand on used shitty AM Fender or several grand on a new one just because you fell for marketing.
>>
>>128305163
If it ain’t a FENDER it’s a forgery
>>
>>128304139
I haven't been able to sing all year without getting hoarse. Gonna see the otolaryngologist about it Monday. Hopefully it's related to my chronic sinusitis
>>
>>128305163
>real poser move
NTA but posing as what? Every modern guitarist sounds like you. Just constantly shitting on Fender. There's not that many big players promoting them either. It doesn't seem like it's popular enough to warrant "posing" as anything.
And you're not going to get a luthier built guitar for the price of a Fender. lmao. More like 5 Fenders for one of those. Fender's always remained accessible. It's not a rich man's instrument. They were cheaper than Gibsons and Gretsches back in the day, and if anything, they got cheaper in these days. The price of a Strat in 1960 was $289. Adjusted for inflation that's $3,102. That's twice as much as the American Pro/Standard series.

How do you shred? Should I start off slow and build up my speed? Also, is every note being alternate picked or is it more of a tremolo pick?
>>
>>128306044
Not him but I play Les Paul’s and I agree. They are the most uncomfortable guitars to play sitting down, they suck playing standing up, they’re heavy, the single cut gets in the way of upper fret access, most have shit neck carves.
>>
>>128305794

>>
>>128306500
I'm a LP player too and I agree they are uncomfortable to play sitting down but they are fucking perfect for playing standing up
>>
>>128306281
There are lots of different ways to shred. You should start off slow until you've got the pattern you're working on worked out and memorized, then I think the general modern advice is to vary the speed; like, play mostly in a low-tempo to mid-tempo range with occasional speed burst attempts at double time, or shifting the metronome up 20 bpm for a few repetitions before slowing it back down, but that's assuming you can play it cleanly at that mid-tempo level. You don't have to alternate pick everything unless that's the sound you're going for. Generally tremolo picking is reserved for a particular effect, and if you're trying to play fast picked scalar passages, your fretting hand and picking hand should be in sync with each other.

>>
>>128305481
Why would they need to be in your town when shipping exists? And he’s right. There’s no difference between American and Mexican fender besides the specs. They’re all made by third world darkies. I watched the corona factory tour on (((andertons))) and 95% of the workers are ESL Mexicans, FOB southeast Asians, or niggers. At least the Indonesian and Chinese shit is made by a homogenous society with something to lose if they fuck up. Low wage illegals in America don’t care about the quality of their work, at all. The only American guitars worth what they’re charging are custom shop.

Mexicans are not Americans no matter how long they’ve been here. They’re Mexicans. And Mexicans produce low effort low quality products. These should work. The pole spacing is correct as long as they fit the overall width of the pickups. I think it’ll look very classy with all black chrome hardware. Not too dark and still a bit shiny but less eye piercing than traditional chrome.

Just be yourself. Start with the tone rolled back to avoid harshness. Try to get a pleasing tone. It's more important the louder you are. It's important to have experience with controlling and using feedback if you are using loud amps. Amps need to be practiced just like anything else. Get some time alone and play loud enough that if you hold a note it starts to feedback. Infinite sustain. And you will find that when you move your guitar different directions it can change the note of the feed back. Playing crude melodies by shifting and turning your guitar, walking around till your harmonic shifts. Being able to do this in a controlled manner is very useful.

When I was in high school, I never knew walking bass lines were supposed to be improvised. Back then I was in my schools jazz orchestra, and I thought I was kicking ass. Being able to read my sheet music and play without even looking at my fretboard, fingering 16th notes at 120bpm, "walking" at 160. Then one day some students younger than me asked if I wanted to play bass in their jazz band. I looked at the score they gave me and told them I couldn't read treble clef. Then piano player told me to just walk a bass line. You know, try arpeggiating the chords. We only played a handful of times together, but each and every time was absolutely humiliating. Thanks for reading.

theyre not really improvised. i mean they are improvised in the sense of you can choose the chord tone or chromatic note you want to use to get to the next chord change but they use a very specific structure and mostly quarter notes. its a medium skill floor but also a low skill ceiling. great players can make them very melodic tho

>>
>>128310923
Sheet music is a skill in itself. Someone who can play whatever is put in front of them makes them a very valuable translator for composers and conductors. It's really important for orchestra players or even session musicians. It was also primarily used for classical music, so I think a lot of the snobbery rubbed off from how competitive the classical world can be. It's just another skill for musicians to be proud over, like speed or having a good ear.
>>
>>128311129
It's very important to be accurate and perfect for music nobody will ever listen to. Unironically.
>>

>>
>>128311129
fair you can do a lot with it and its much faster and more accurate to write out with tablature. i guess i was more saying that a good leader would bring their band members up instead of punching down. theres a lot of really really great players out there that dont read and youd be missing out on a better player by not working with them. my father in law has been playing piano for 35 years and doesnt even know what a bar or the nashville number system is but can learn a song in 2-3 minutes and improvise like crazy

Classical? More like "let's all go", am I right? And what's the deal with conductors? They face the band and move their arms around? The Audiences view is blocked, and the musicians are trying to be polite by acting like he's doing something. It's like the friend you had that couldn't play a rock instrument so he started playing bass. At least with bass players you can never hear them. The conductor actually ruins the performance with his yuppie attitude.

It’s cool that the new studios have neck binding with nibs. That at least makes it feel a little more premium. I’ve been listening to some demos with the burstbucker pros and I’m really liking them. They clean up and crunch nice but can do all the high gain stuff nicely as well. It’s also nice that they have coil splits. Pretty excited to get the guitar on mondee. The graph tech string saver reso bridge, locking tailpiece and ratio locking tuners should help a lot with tuning stability, longevity and quick string changes.
If I still end up having problems with tuning stability, are there any aftermarket nuts or other remedies anons can recommend me that help keep the b and g string from binding? I do a lot of boomer bends and heavy vibrato.

get a set of nut files and pencil lead. recut the slots to angle directly towards the tuner post and go 1 size larger than the strings youll use. take a smaller file and make 1-2 short passes inside the slot to make a tiny little ridge at the bottom of the slot to keep the string from moving side to side. i call this indexing the slot but stole the idea from a guy at stewmac

It has polymer saddles with rounded off slots that prevent the strings from digging into the saddle and binding or breaking. Their bridges and tailpieces are also supposed to resonate better than an abr-1 and give you more toan. The ratio locking tuners are specifically designed to give you a semitone per full turn per string for more accurate tuning and they lock. So all you gotta do is throw a string in clamp it down and tune up to pitch. I’ll be able to change all the strings in 2 minutes basically.

People who buy them seem to think they work exceptionally well, read the reviews. I’m not that concerned with increasing resonance but if it does that’s cool too. More concerned with string life and tuning stability. I cannot keep stock Les Paul’s in tune. If this helps alleviate that even a little it’ll be worth it, plus the black will look neat. I’ll just have to make sure my Luthier does a good job filing the nut and maybe put that string butler thing on it as well. If I can get through a whole song without my g string going flat I’ll be happy.

>snobbery
This is pretty standard procedure in jazz, it's not meant to be snobbery. They give rhythm section players the "lead" sheet so they can see what the melody instruments are playing. It's like a road map of the song that shows the drummers where the good fill spots are, it shows where the solos start, where the "hits" are, as well as any other unique moments that are good to be aware of. If anything it would be snobbery for them to not give you a lead sheet and then call you a retard for making a mistake that the lead sheet would have helped you avoid
