Made some edits to the board. Getting the deluxe big muff, proco rat and tronographic bass box. Im on edge about the whammy pedal also. I think im gearing towards playing songs in C or below and I'm not sure how often I'll want to whammy. I think it might have its uses so I'll hold onto it. SD1 and ODB-3 I feel are for if you want more highs on the bass and I just see myself wanting them with the new stuff coming. Aftershock is only good for the heavy setting but sounds good with with the OC5. Same with the hall of fame. I only use the MOD FX on it but sounds so cool so it's a keeper. Pairs nice with the chorus

>>128338779thanks for sharing. I have Brandon Deon’s $2500 guitar course and have used Artistworks, Scott’s bass lessons, talking bass, Bassbuzz beginner to badass, and probably another $800 in books. Brandon’s course is worth the money believe it or not as you also get 1 on 1 feedback and watch other peoples feedback like a master class. it’s a very jazz and theory oriented course but you can play any genre with the knowledge and technique gained there. out of most people’s budgets but artistworks is good for a budget. I don’t really jive with Scott’s bass lessons or Charles berthouds teaching; it’s literally just here’s a video of me playing the tab now go play it. mark at talking bass is more of a teacher and his lessons are laid out with a logical and effective progression. For books I can only recommend Hal Leonard’s method books, most others are shit.

Has anyone on here taught themselves how to sight read musical notation on the treble clef (since that's what guitarists use with leger lines) after using tabs or chord diagrams (chord frames) all their lives? I've been playing a long time and know how to play guitar using tabs and chord frames...but I went down the rabbit hole to teach myself to read musical notation. Ok, it's going well, melody notes are easy to learn. I even can do it pretty well on the bass clef even though I'll probably never play the keyboard/piano or bass guitar. Thing is, no fucking books or youtube videos teach a guitar player how to read/memorize/recognize chords in musical notation on the staff. They simply just stack 2 notes on the staff and expect you to instantly recognize which note you're reading and then to know which fingers you use to play those notes. It's like a head explody moment. Individual notes are no problem...multiple notes stacked one on top of one another are a fucking problem. I have to hope the music has a tab rendition below the musical notation to know what is going on or I get lost instantly. I believe this has to do with relying on mnemonics rather than learning interval spacing between the notes rather than trying to figure out each stacked note instantaneously. Like recognizing a 4th by site or a 2nd, etc. All the guitar method books fail to use any words to explain this very crucial concept. Its fucking frustrating and making me hate trying to learn musical notation so I revert back to what I already know and is easy...tabs. Any suggestions how to overcome this mental block and learn to read music the right way?
>>128340090I wouldn't call that playing well at all anon, the guy can't even bend to pitch.
>>128340077Stealing this.
>>128339986>do any of you have any custom shop guitars/guitars handmade from small boutique builders? Yes, one Fender Custom Shop and one Fano Alt De Facto>what did they cost? Fender was $2995 and the Fano was $2000, both were used>how do they compare to regular production guitars? They feel more broken in without feeling totally clapped out. They feel like there was more attention to detail when putting them together compared to a regular old production guitar. I wasn’t a believer in any Fender Custom Shop stuff because all of the ones I had played didn’t feel any different than any regular US production Fenders until I played a friend’s and that specific one just felt great. That began a hunt for one for myself that I could play in person before buying so I could tell if it had the same feel. I’d have no problem buying another but I’d want to play it in person first and not buy blindly online
>>128340077Hell yeah rock on dude
>>128340093you need to know your key and or chord being playing. each line/space is a new note on the scale so your chords and triads are basically one space apart on the staff. if a note is flattened or augmented then it’s very likely to be a chromatic note to the next note in the scale being used. that’s the shorthand of it but there’s no passive way to learn to read sheet music, you have to practice and focus on it
>>128339825Pretty sad

What's the deal with people using /gg/ that don't play guitar? It's like watching videos on knitting when you don't actually want to knit. You see these people posting things. You can tell they don't know anything! They do it all the time. I don't know what to make of it, but apparently they call themselves bass guitarists...
>>128339986custom shop, yesa gibson sj200 and a larrivee parlor acousticthey're both great but I doubt I'd drop $7000 on another custom shop gibson acoustic, not that I'd need to since the sj200 is perfect, but they're really not THAT different from the standard production models in quality, other than having special appointments or historical idiosyncrasies for $2000 the larrivee is incredible though, every bit as good, if not better, than my somewhat similar vintage 00-18 from martin
>>128340200the key and time signature are at the beginning on the left. take key of C major for example it has no sharps or flats so if you see any accidental you know automatically it’s not going to be a note in the major scale, so say it’s the flattened (depending on how everything is written they will only use all sharps or all flats typically) B which is your 7, you know that’s the flat 7 etc. The key signatures are displayed in flats or sharps there are no letters written usually and the sharps and flats will be on the line that they actually correspond to on the scale when written in the header. so once you learn your keys you kind of already memorized your staff so to speak. there are a lot of other things to learn like repeats and codas and reprises but take those one at a time. and that’s to say nothing of dynamic writings and techniques (think violin music). some people also choose which position you should playing out of and may write that in the staff somewhere but people typically learn a piece and choose to write their own things in pencil on the sheet after playing a few times.
>>128340035not bad. timing sounds a little off. keep up the good work fren

>>128342346rick beato has a horsecock
>>128342363bad dragon enjoyers rise up
>>128342289I’m a Karen because the retard ordered a guitar I didn’t ask for then cancelled it without me asking and forced me to wait 15 days to get my money back? Ok. >>128342278
>>128342297That’s not even close to what happened.
>>128342391why didn't you just tell them to order in the guitar you wanted? you ordered something and they didn't bring that item in...shoulda paid a deposit rather than the full amount upfront kekw
>>128342427>why didn’t you do this or that Ok>order hard tail guitar over phone because not on website>gc rep says he found one in the store>tell him 5 times exactly what guitarist and confirm that he found the right one>pay for guitar>get email 2 minutes later for a tremolo signature model that isn’t even the same model of guitar or color I ordered>call and tell him it’s the wrong guitar>doesn’t ask me if I want to find another guitar or put credit on my account just cancels the entire thing and says the money will come back in 3-5 days. Tell him I didn’t authorize him to cancel the order and he blames me for “rushing” him >ask to speak to a manager>transfers me to a store>bank says gc doesn’t release their authorization holds for 10 full business daysNone of this is my fault. It’s a giant fucking headache I shouldn’t have had to deal with.
>>128342447maybe you should have asked /gg/ before going ahead with this plan
>>128342457is it......plugged into ur bootyhole?
>>128342459Yeah >>128342457Jewish legs
>>128342391No, you’re a Karen for constantly nagging GC about it. If they say a refund is coming then it’s coming. Bitching on the phone to some random dude isn’t going to speed anything along. Yeah it sucks but just have some patience.
