Fender can't quite say they make everything in the USA. That's why they put "Made in Corona, California". Most of it is US though. Even the screws, funnily. But strict laws now require everything to be US made to have the Made in USA rank.

>>128346421

Martin doesn't do it for economic reasons. They're big conservation types. They don't like screwing with regions that are under too much threat. It cycles though. Crops always grow eventually.

For a project guitar? What's wrong with poly there? I mean, I'm just talking something you experiment with pickups with and other parts. A beater basically, but not a complete piece of shit.

>>
>>128346944
They experiment with all kinds of shit, but rosewood and hog are used because customers demand it. Or tradition too.
They came out with a pretty interesting maple guitar recently, but it was cut and designed in such a way to sound close to their traditional models. It isn't any cheaper though. Like I said, they just do it because they're eco hippies.

They can source rosewood domestically, even Indian rosewood. They choose to buy it from Indja because it’s cheaper. There’s no reason why any product cannot be made in the United States unless it’s physically impossible to grow or mine it here.
>>
>>128347110
>They choose to buy it from Indja because it’s cheaper.
They get rosewood from specific plantations that they invested in for a long time. From what I gather, having these relationships is far more important. It's reliable and consistent. I think that partly screwed with Gibson awhile back where they found themselves scrounging for lumber. PRS was another smart enough to build these relationships and I think outright owns some of the plantations. On top of stockpiling all kinds of stuff.
>>
>>128347105
I'd buy a Studio Hummingbird in a heartbeat if they were all-acoustic.
>>
>>128347161
I think Taylor was the big one farming their own ebony etc. afaik it’s all farmed now with some exclusive models using madagascar rw, gutamalen rw, or sometimes sinker mahogany. I’m all for sustainable foresting, and honestly I wish the Chinese would stop wasting rare wood on shitty guitars
>>
>>128347161

I’ve been loving my Noventa Jazzmaster so much that I decided I need one with proper JM pickups and a rhythm circuit. I hope it’s good, Vinteras have been hit or miss in my experience. It has a rosewood fretboard so that’s a plus over the poop ferro models. The FSR models have treated me well, here’s hoping this one continues that trend.
>>
>>128347281

>vinteras are hit or miss
I had the p bass and while the fit and finish was ok the tuners were awful and the neck could not handle heavy gauge flatwounds. truss rod was maxed out and still had too much relief. I ended up getting rid of it after a month
>>
>>128347281
If you haven't ordered it already, you might want to look into Japanese models too. They're "Traditional" line has a 9.5 radius instead of the vintage correct but not entirely loved 7.25. There are good things about 7.25 too though.

I blew my wad on a 2025 MIJ Trad II FSR Jaguar and after tariffs it cost me a pretty penny but was totally worth it. It’s the nicest Jaguar I’ve ever played, the alder body, American pickups combined with the Jap quality QC and craftsmanship make it next level. As for the Vinteras, my V2 Mustang is great for a MIM. The Vintera 1 Jag had a lot of teething issues but after a thorough setup and shim it’s pretty decent. I remember it being worse than it is, whenever I actually pick it up and play it I always think “man I should play this more often” but that MIJ Jag definitely blows it out of the water. I plan on routing the turquoise V1 Jag for a bridge humbucker at some point, I just want to be sure I find a reliable luthier for something like that.. despite the pretty retarded amount of guitars I own, I’m not super picky, one of my top 3 is a Player Strat that would be nothing special to most but just has that magic glove like quality for me personally. I’m hoping this new JM fits well enough because aesthetically I love the green with matching head and a tort pickguard. Looks aren’t my top priority but when they strike me it makes it easier to put the work in or overlook flaws that aren’t easy fixes.

>solid state
>attenuator
why?
>>
>>128348327
I'm thinking of getting an amp, just want to know if you can adjust the wattage to make it quieter without it clipping like the jc40
>>
>>128348361
nta and maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think solid states have that problem because you aren’t driving physical tubes for distortion. the distortion is simulated and can be achieved at any volume
>>
>>128348361
Yeah you just roll the volume back if you want it quieter. Attenuators are for achieving power tube saturation without having to be incredibly loud. None of the amps you listed have tubes at all.

any of you guys like guitar?

no just bass
>>
Any of you lads play funk? I'm recording some funky stuff, but since I don't have a bass I have to play slap guitar by lowering the Tone knob and putting on an envelope filter (DOD 440). I think it works, but since I sold my bass a couple years ago I have not had the money to just buy another one..

>>
>>128348361
Look into attenuators and load boxes if it’s a tube amp (if you’re going to spend more than a couple hundred, it should be a tube amp. I rarely see tune amp regret).

Ever since I got back into classical guitar rock guitar just feels silly to me. The guitar's possibilities are so underutilized in every other genre of guitar music. ( with the exception of chord melody jazz guitar). Also love how gearfaggotry really isn't much of a thing with this music once you've found the one instrument you'll play. I don't think I'm going back brothers

Can someone redpill me on the use of a piezo bridge pickup in an electric?
Is it only to somehow recreate some of the character you'd have on acoustics?
I saw fender has the acousta-sonic line but that pre-amp comes with voicing profiles.
If you have an HH or HSS, tonally what does the piezo offer, only acoustic? Or is there something about the response that makes it useful for distorted sound.
>>
>>128349436
bluegrass cross picking is kind of similar but the difference is the average person is writing the music and not a superhuman freak like Bach, but using a pick is such a handicap compared to fingerstyle. however, yeah I pretty much agree.
>>
>>128349436
Same but neoclassical and circled back to gearfaggotry
>>
>>128349457
you have the right idea but it won’t truly sound like an acoustic just like pickups in acoustic guitars still don’t sound like acoustics. you’re getting the pure string resonance and vibrations coming through the saddles instead of what the electromagnetic field is creating in an electric guitar pickup but you’re missing out on all the overtones and harmonics that are created in the resonance chamber on an acoustic. but yeah it’s just a close approximation
>>
>>128349187
cherryburst is iconic, don’t call it clownburst or i might cry
>>
>>128349457
Some people blend them into their regular pickups but most people just use them for cleans. I’m of the opinion that they’re fairly worthless, especially since they require their own output jack and separate signal chain. But graph tech does make several “ghost piezo” bridges for tune-o-mastic, tele, and Strat bridges that have hidden piezo pickups, if for some reason you want one.
>>
Is there something particular that could help with the fretting hand fretting a bit too quickly in relation to the picking? I started practicing 1 to 2 hours every day some time ago to fix these issues.
>>
>>128349334
nice dude! any bands you recommend?
>>
>>128349519
best way I’ve found to correct cognitive processes (muscle memory) is to slow it way the fuck down like 30 bpm quarter notes and hyper focus on how each hand feels to be in sync then work on various tempos once that concept is subconscious. you need to work at various tempos because technique slightly changes especially for plectrum picking as you speed up

The store near me has this active bass and it's pretty cheap. I want to make sure I know what I'm asking for when I go to GC. The band I'm trying mostly plays in drop A but I'll probably also want to play drop C songs on it as well. Would anyone recommend using the 5 bass strings on the 4 string? I saw that online but I'm not too sure about it
>>
>>128349541
parliament/funkadelic, older motown stuff, anything bootsy collins, sly and the family stone, tower of power, kool and the gang, older james brown stuff, chic. kind of newer but Joe Dart stuff like uh fearless flyers and whatever else he was in. hot take but I really like the gap band. Stevie Ray Vaughans late stuff was getting deep into funk if you want lead guitar stuff (couldn’t stand the weather, crossfire). damn I lost my train of thought… anything you’re looking for in particular?
>>
>>128349577
I’d at least buy a Yamaha or Ibanez if you’re going cheap active
>>
>>128349577
you’ll have to cut the but slots when drastically going up in string gauge. it can be crudely done with sandpaper wrapped around an old string but look up what you’re getting into first
>>
>>128349591
oh yeah I was going to say I really like Living Color (cult of personality fame). kind of a mix of hard rock and funk. Patterns (costa rican band) is one of my favorite bands of all time, but they never made it big. Dangerous Intentions album is a straight banger and it’s like an 80s pop funk vibe. Check out burning man by them and see if you like them

>>
>>128349680
Sounds good Jag friend, how did you record this?
>>
>>128349706
it can be done just try to find one that has plenty of room left on the truss rod. cheaper guitars have weaker necks especially asian shredder shit with tiny carves. you’re going to be adding a lot of tension to the neck probably
>>
Craig here. I just got a pet fish. I showed it my guitar and explained to it that I was a guitarist. I named the guy Bonefish.
>>
>>128349717
nah, I have yet to check it out. Wooten is a legend.

>>
>>128349741
What if I'm doing this idea with a passive bass instead? Would that change anything? One of the pedals I have coming is a preamp. So I don't think I need the active bass, just a 2nd bass that I can use for this shit.
>>
>>128349790

>>
>>128349519
This is said quite often, but just use a metronome and build up speed. Watch some Troy Grady videos on right hand technique. Keep consistent with practice.

>>128349763
cheers brother, keep on funkin
>>
>>128349798
Nta but personally I'd run 2 basses. Going back and forth between drop a and drop c will be a pain. It'd be different if you were going from c standard to drop a#
>>
Craig stays winning... They hate to see it.
>>
>>128349772
if you don’t have this problem at 100 bpm keep plugging away at 120. maybe even try playing a song you know at 140 without stopping even if you’re fucking up half the time.
>>128349798
there’s no need for an active bass if you have a good amp or modeler imo. active basses are just good for doing eq on the instrument on the fly because like you said they specifically have a preamp built in. cutting through a mix is about frequencies, not giant hot pickups

>>

Like the other anon said, yamaha or ibby is the way to go in that price range. If that's what your budget allows, that's what I would do yeah. Different tunings 100% justifies a separate instrument in my opinion if only just for convenience sake.
