Video I have to share: Circle of 5ths Explained For Guitarists (15 mins) Worth every second.

No longer will you just stare at this circle and go, mmmm kay but how do I use this on a guitar where we can play the same note in multiple spots on a guitar? Finally someone will explain it to you in a way that makes some damn sense. It's not how to construct it, nor how many sharps and flats and all that stuff...but literally how to use it today in your next tinker or jam session.

Mind blown...wad blown...

Tort goes with red or white. The white pickguard's beveled edge doesn't match the cream covers. Why do you need redundant tone controls and toggles?

If you really wanted to show me, maybe randomize your fretboard inlays or mix and match gold and chrome hardware. Throw an evertune on there too for good measure.

Never buy from GC. At least nothing other than cheap stuff that you can fix up yourself. I’ve had really good luck with small shops, they tend to be willing to go above and beyond, take good care of their inventory and provide decent setups if even as something to do to kill time. It might cost slightly more but they also seem to be more willing to haggle a bit

Even realer niggas skip the Fender faggotry and get a Spector/Streamer with the PJ configuration instead and since these actually have the superior reverse P-pickup.

I have been trying to deliberately not play my Tele but I can’t get away from it. I’ve given my Strats and my humbucker guitar some love this week for the first time in months, I’ve given my P90s and my crustang some love for the first time in weeks, but I keep putting them away in favor of a Tele. It just feels right to me and every sound I get out of it is a sound I genuinely love and can find use for. It feels weird to have a guitar that just clicks with me and that feels “mine” for the first time in many years, like the last decade of chasing guitars that don’t quite feel perfectly right for me after they arrive is finally over because this one has arrived. I’ve had a few Teles in the past and I’ve enjoyed them all but they never clicked with me like this one. It feels like the end of an era to finally have something like this

Thank you for coming to my BlogTalk

im the hello kitty anon and the fender 50th anon.
the hello kitty one i obviously got because i like metal, the 50th 1996 one i got because thats the guitar i first fell in love with when i started playing. i tried to cope with a player II but it just wasnt cutting it man. i slept on it for like 3 nights, could not fucking shake it. i HAD to have it, it was fucking calling me.
>>
>>128473095
Glad you’re enjoying it anon. I have a feeling when I get a Tele I will have a similar come to Jesus moment as well. I have all these offsets and Strats and whenever I play a good Tele I think “I should really get one of these”. I had one a long time ago but didn’t like the neck pickup so I got rid of it. For me it’s probably going to be a Deluxe with the ability to split the coils.
>>
>>128473153
Nice, I remember playing one of those when they came out and really digging it, the 50th Strat. I’d put it up there with the Elite Strat my best friend inherited from his dad as one of the Strats that stood out and that says something as I’ve played hundreds of them at this point.

yeah i could have gotten the 70th anniversary one too but it did not draw me in like the 50th did. it was love at first sight.
then i found one with the original pickguard plastic and stickers still on it, basically been sitting in a case since 1996.
I had the seller send me lots of high res pictures and none of the gold hardware was even worn.

thats when i knew.

shit, your anecdote about it was a welcome one, now im even more hyped.

I’ve had two other Teles in the past and lived with a friend who had a Japanese Thinline that I spent a lot of time with, and they were all cool guitars but just didn’t have the “it” that I was I guess subconsciously looking for. Then years later I got the rosewood Tele and that rekindled the Tele lust but I still wanted something more traditional looking but also just to have a second one and after getting this Tele it just is over. It’s the one. The rosewood one is very cool and special and I love it too but it’s also like its own special sentimental thing that isn’t quite regular old Telecaster. They feel different and they sound different, both feel and sound great but this one just has something special. I really don’t think it has anything to do with the whole Custom Shop thing, I think it’s just the sum of its parts is something special when all of its parts are special and add up together. I lucked out deciding to make the drive to this guitar shop and deciding to give this guitar that I really didn’t want to spend the money on a shot instead of just telling the sales guy no I don’t want to play it. If I had walked out I’d have been thinking about the guitar but after playing it it was an immediate connection

It’s a crudely done acrylic paint job that’s faded and chipped away over the years. I’ve considered wiping it clean as possible but I think I’d regret it, this guitar is like the instrument equivalent of a facial scar. I’ll be damned if it doesn’t still play and sound great though, it’s a 2004 MIM and just got its first fresh set of strings in probably 3 years. It’s my least played but most sentimental electric guitar. I’ll be playing it more now after rekindling it with a clean up and new strings.

These are the much maligned 'hot tele' alnico 3's that were on the 2nd generation Highway One telecaster, my main guitar, and I have extensive experience and do not recommend
The neck pickup is fine and even above average, closer to strat neck pickup sound
the bridge pickup is extremely overwound (13k) and sounds like a humbucker... very mid focused and lacking the glassy high end. There is virtually no twang.
I changed my pickups to Texas Specials because I hated the shitty clean tone of the bridge pickup. The bridge pickup does sound good with distortion though.
It's also not a real Tele bridge pickup because it doesn't have a metal plate, it's plastic

m8 expensive gear is never for the audience, your average listener can't even notice if your guitar is in tune.

That expensive Suhr? That KLON? That vintage Shitson with the Gold top and the fake relic?
It's for the player, you will play better because you think your expensive meme gear is pushing your boundaries. The listener couldn't care less if you do it through a Dumble or a Hello Kitty Squier.

>>
>>128475089
I'm doing ok with basic fender trems. I should have started with a hard tail. Strat was my first guitar and I never used the trem once. I moved an LP and started bending the neck when that's the sound I wanted. Now that I move back and forth between the two guitar types, it's easy to highlight what they do differently.
I never learned dive bombs and modern shredder trem stuff some bandmates could do. Locking tuners and a respectable trem system are needed for those antics.

Mesa Rectoverb or Fender Super-Sonic are loud enough to gig, but are small 12" combos. And have great preamps for crunch and high gain sounds at quieter levels.
There are great non-US amps that do the same thing and cheaper (like the 5150s).

I don't need a dumbass chart to play i iv v.
I know the relative minor is a minor third down from a root major.

Why would I spend a bunch of time memorizing a chart when I could put that time in playing the dyad and triads of a key? Maybe master at least one mode so I'm not stuck in a pentatonic box.

Just play i iv v and their relative minors. wtf you need 15 minutes to explain that? This shit is like caged explaining and making rules for a bunch of stuff you already do.

hold on I've got ideas,
what if I tune a guitar to drop A
then use a capo so I can use many tunings
will that work and why has no one done this
>>
>>128478722
I guess I would just suggest to focus on the timing and play it slower with a metronome or drum track, and maybe focus on accenting the downbeat on beats 1 and 3 to try and lock in (the first bend and the third double-stop in the first bar).
>>
>>128478841
Play the intro riff to crazy train with a metronome. That is what separates men from boys. Nobody here can do that except me.
>>
>>128475388
My mustangs all stay in tune for days and are not hardtailed. I don’t use the trem arm but I do mash the tube with my palm on occasion and use them to play fast and heavy stuff. Keeping them in tune is a skill issue, specifically a setup skills issue.
