swing or triplet? swing you only do every so often, if you swing all the notes it’s a shuffle. say out loud “walk the dog” walk and dog are the beats and “the” is the last note of the triplet. might be able to better answer your question if it was more specific

>typical mics used to record guitars don't pickup anything below 30-40 Hz (applies to IRs (obviously) and any half-decent cab modeler as well)
>then everything below 50-80 Hz often gets deliberately completely cut off
>then likely a fine tune to have just enough in the 50-150 Hz range
>then a cut or a few around 150-500 Hz
>then likely boosts around 800-1600 Hz and/or ~3000 Hz, possibly around 4000-6000 Hz as well
>then a cut or a few around 150-500 Hz again applied to the whole mix/master
Get an EQ pedal.
Too much in the 200-400 Hz range is the enemy. If cutting around there doesn't help completely then you have too much bass and should dial it back, or not enough upper mids and treble (e.g. you're playing a Gibsonoid into a tweed amp).

yeah but there’s very little of it going on at sub bass frequencies. even when you play an open E at 40hz or whatever it is, you’re hearing the harmonics of the string as well, and the signal of the bass even with a very warm sound is peaking around 100hz

First, they need to know what eq does. Then they need to know how that relates to the sound they're making. Third, it doesn't hurt to be able to play.

It's very easy for players to not check all three boxes. Most of us would be lost with a 32 band eq. The three band eqs give a few options without letting you screw things up 1000 ways.

Is it viable to use a Squire Telecaster for playing Metal, particularly Black Metal? I've been playing the guitar for a few months properly, having at various stages throughout my teens and earlier 20's owning and learning with different guitars both acoustic and electric. This squire Tele was my gf's and she has a nice expensive Gretsch now so didn't need the Tele and gifted it to me. I'm using it on her Blackstar amp and sometimes I can get a tone I like but it's not quite there. I was wondering if I should invest in some pedals or if the sound I'm after can't be achieved with the kind of pickups on the Squire Tele. Thoughts?
>>
>>128575588
yeah its no problem
>>
>>128572293
Not only can you copy it, you can improve it. Check it out, three clipping modes!
>>
>>128575569
he uses all of his tone for one decent note at 1:09 and then just spergs out.
>>
>>128575588
Honest answer, you can use any guitar for any genre.
The tele's single-coils will have more spank and less output than a "metal guitar's humbuckers, so some things like harmonics will be harder to hit. you can eq around most of the tonal difference, though.
your biggest problem is going to be the 60-cycle-hum the pickups will produce at high gain. Buy a noise gate.

“PRS guitars, Jerry, PRS guitars!
I bought one yes, I bought one!
Do you know how much money that is for me?!
I could’ve fed myself for a year, Jerry! A year!
But no, no, I needed the carved top, I needed the birds,
I needed to look like one of those… those session guys who actually know what they’re doing!
So I show up to rehearsal with this thing,
and everyone looks at me like I’m trying too hard.
‘Oh wow, George got a PRS! Somebody’s moving up in the world!’
It’s MOCKING, Jerry! They’re mocking me!
And I don’t even know how to play half the stuff this guitar is capable of!
It’s got switches, coils, knobs
I don’t know what anything does!
I turn one knob and suddenly I’m in Santana mode!
SANTANA MODE, JERRY!
I’m not ready for Santana mode!
Then they say it looks ‘too nice.’
Too nice!
Apparently guitars can be too attractive!
My instruments have to match my personal level of failure!
So now I have a guitar that’s worth more than my wardrobe,
nobody takes me seriously with it,
and when I try to sell it oh, that’s the kicker!
everybody offers me HALF.
Half!
They say, ‘Well, it ain’t a Fender.’
I can’t win, Jerry.
I buy a fancy guitar, I’m a poser.
I buy a cheap guitar, I’m a joke.
I’m un-guitarable!

Compensated trad saddles. In true Leo fashion, the OG Tele is genius but has one glaring flaw. The traditional saddles are hard to intonate since it's two strings per saddle. To fix it, you can go six saddles (and purists think you'll lose tone if they aren't big and brass) or use compensated ones. Or you have some master tech who knows the magical goldilocks zone to intonate a Tele as best as possible.

I'm a guitarist and I bought a guitar virtual instrument. Feels weird man.

I like playing to backing tracks of my favourite songs. I create them myself and sometimes when there's a second guitar part, I do it in MIDI. I didn't like recording the other parts, no idea why. The guitar sounds I had before sound like shit, even when adjusting the MIDI to how a guitarist would play it. Now I caved in and bought a virtual instrument which makes creating realistic sounding strums and lines easier.

I don't want to care, but the serial number I had was much cooler, and also almost 2.5lbs lighter. who is the coors light of guitar brands?
>>

Fender
>>
>>128578313
but isn't the pentatonic minor scale the key that unlocks the major scale and all the modes except locrian?
>>
>>128578559
backwards. the major and natural minor scales unlock all the other scales, technically all you need to learn is the major scale
>>
>>128578585
So what is a key then if a major scale unlocks all keys?
>>
>>128578508
Coors Light goes down smooth like water. Practically not a beer. Fenders are unforgiving and have bite. And only piss off anyone with an unrefined slop palette.
>>
>>128578650
you know the natural minor is the flat 3/6/7 of the major scale. keys follow a pattern and are built off the intervals of the major and natural minor scale. major keys have a major 1/4/5 and the 7 is diminished. in a minor key the 2 is diminished and the 1/4/5 are minor
>>
>>128578692
>you know
No I don't lol I have no idea what a key even is compared to a scale I'm new to theory
>>
>>128578692
so if you know your intervals you know your keys. you don’t even have to remember the note names if you remember your shapes, just always know where your root is
>>
>>128578711
key is the lowest note in the scale

here’s your major and minor scale shape. a key is the harmonic center of music, a scale is just a collection of notes related to that key, whether it’s in the key or not. however, the chord progressions in the key are built off of the intervals of the major/natural minor scale depending on if you are in a major or minor key. sorry if this is dismissive but it would require dozens of paragraphs of explanation and to really flesh it out you would have to already have a fundamental understanding of intervals. the numbers in the pic is the name of the interval.
>>
>>128578805
I didn’t make it to Scotty’s lessons on intervals and keys because I feel like I already knew what he was going to say but I’m sure it would be a good watch for you
>>
>>128578762
>>128578805
I thought keys were independent of scales? I read on r*ddit that keys were what feels like home in a piece of music
>>
>>128578857
NTA, but it's the same thing. That lowest note kind of gives that home base feel..or shapes the motif of you're playing. Or the first thing you're going to search out if you try to learn a song.
>>
>>128578857
you’re confusing theory with practical application. what a person needs to describe on paper and how it feels to actually use it are two different things
>>
>>128574903
He looks black in the thumbnail
>>
>>128578585
>>128578559
major and/or minor unlock the 6 other modes. They are 2 of the modes themselves. You won't even use all of the other 6 unless you're a lunatic.

That's all the same scale starting at a different spot. They sound different. Two of the modes don't have much application outside of metal or maybe there's eastern use.

You can quickly learn what the modes are, maybe even get an ear for IDing them. It's another skill to apply each one on the spot as chord changes are flying by.
>>
>>128578935
you honestly don’t even really have to learn the modes either. it’s just the same scale except you start and end on a different degree of the scale. youtubers do a very poor job of explaining modes because they don’t use them in context. you have to establish the tonal center of the new scale degree and resolve on that degree for it to make sense. they typically just play through them all like some kind of practice exercise
>>
>>128579000
>>128578935
