Here's the San Dimas 24 fretter mentioned last thread. Rockin guitar, but I hate Floyds. I just want something Strat sized with a traditional bridge.

I'd get a classic vibe strat myself if I ever wanted a strat. The vintage look with six screw trem and 21 frets is what I like about it. Any modern iteration of it, whether fender's or other company's, is just a boring ass guitar to me.
>>
>>128813736
Why they all slouchin like Coraline’s dad?
>>
>>128813736
>jag in the back with a three way and no rhythm circuit
gayest thing in the pic
>>
>>128813956
That's what I usually play. But I've been jonesing for a bridge HB again..and kind of want 24 frets to make it different enough from my usual guitars.
>>
>>128813877
>I just want something Strat sized with a traditional bridge.
have you looked into Fender Stratocasters?
>>
>>128813956
>I'd get a classic vibe strat myself if I ever wanted a strat
go a step above and get a Mexican strat. I have a CV and it's good but feels cheap compared to any Mexican Strat I've ever owned, and that's been like 9
>>
>>128814002
It's what I already play, but Fender doesn't make any 24 fretters atm. Especially without a Floyd Rose.
>>
>>128813877
>Floyd
>HSS
Ewww

The DK24 HSH is literally superior, for HSS I'd just get a normal Strat
>>
>>128813760
Me too sis!!
>>
>>128814018
I think they are superior, except for the body size. I mean, I was agreeing with this anon who said they're a bit on the small side. ---> >>128813690

Nothing really fills the niche of what we're talking about. That is, a Strat body with 24 frets. Nothing cheap at least. I think Anderson or Suhr make something like that, but those are crazy prices.
>>
>>128813736
I have one of those yellow Precisions, I put some flats on it and it plays and sounds great
>>
>>128813981
Yeah that's understandable. Unluckily, 24 frets usually come with floyds which is a pain from what little experience I had with it. Still wishing I didn't sell it though. Hope you find something that suits you.

>>128814014
Oh I fucking wish fender kept making those old mexi standards. One of my biggest regrets is not getting one back in the day. These new player ones are just meh to me. And honestly, I'm used to playing cheap, badly set-up guitars so I wouldn't mind. As long as it stays in tune and the frets are done well, I'm gonna be happy. Though my next guitar is definitely a PT special. I want a Tele style with an arm cut so fucking bad it's unreal and those ones are the sexiest option for a good price.
>>
Is Lenny Kravitz considered a good guitar player?
>>
>>128814073
My problem with Floyds is I like changing tunings a lot... and don't have 10 guitars for each tuning (nor do I want 10 guitars). I could deal with the hassle if I just stuck with one tuning. But to change a tuning, you have to take off the neck lock, and adjust the springs in the back everytime and basically go through a whole new setup ordeal just for a new tuning. It's fucking stupid. Same thing with Evertunes.
>>
>>128814055
im that guy and followed the same road
your next choice are ibanez premium az
then japan only schecters, still with gotohs
then ibanez prestige az, everything else above have some variant of edge
then suhr moderns and tom andersons are about the same price
sweetwater man almost sold me a pro mod ferrari red charvel but i don't like floyds
>>
>>128814090
He's just rhythm, but he had guys who came up with some cool riffs.
I still kind of like him because he's like the only mainstream rocker whose written a good song about Christ.
>>
>>128814095
Yeah that's why I hate the two point trem on my benton and why I'd want a sex screw. Easy to deck and can change tunings on the fly. From what little I've heard of evertunes, I'd never wanna go with that.
>>
>>128814090
JUST A LITTLE FUCKIN DRAGONFLY
>>
>>128814035
It sucks! Haha. Being drunk is nice but the drawbacks aren't worth it. I'm hoping to quit after new years and get my shit together. Thinking about the fact I could have bought a guitar or two with all the money I spent on beer makes me feel like a total retard lol.
>>
>>128814055
Fender will never shit out a 24 fret Stratocaster because a) its going to be ugly and b) they're purists
HSS is the best they'll do, enjoy the Ultra Luxe II
HH and HSH are heresy to Fender

>>
Why is 24 frets such a big deal? Do you really need those two or three extra semitones over a 21/22 fret neck so much that it’s a dealbreaker?
>>
>>128814014
This, the Player series are godlike for what they are

If only they used imperial so that putting US bridges and saddles will be easier
>>
>>128814174
They're meant to be floating too so basically similar to floyds but without the locking nut. Not sure how it's on others but on my benton at least the posts can't be screwed low enough for the bridge to be flat against the body so I had it angled backwards most of the time. Ended up sticking a piece of wood behind it to keep it in place. I do plan on doing some major reworking on it eventually, gonna make it a hard tail cause I'm just not a trem guy and it's got such a nice neck that I don't want it being a meh guitar.
>>
>>128814228
big deal if you're playing rock/metal and want to noodle
doesn't matter for any other genre
yngwie malmsteen can shred on a 21 fret and iron maiden didn't need 24 frets
>>
>>128814228
It's just be cool to have. I don't need it. The usual superstrat has a few other things I don't have atm, so add them up and it's different enough to want one around. Hotter pickups, flatter radius, etc..
>>
>>128814247
just noodle one string up and five frets back bro
>>
>>128814243
I see. I've only had one two point trem, but I don't remember much. I've mostly had 6 point Strats, Teles, and Gibsons.. and always just did on the fly tunings and little tweaks with them. Easy to work with, easy to set up.

"The Times They Are A-Changin'"

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who that it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin'
Will soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'
>>

Yeah hard tail is the way to go for me. The ease of use is just unbeatable. I'd definitely want a trem guitar or two on the side for fooling around with it but definitely wouldn't want it as my main axe.
>>
>>128814228

It's like 2 guitars in 1 -- you get the usual 12 frets and then the high pitch extended 12 frets where normally you'd get 21 or 22 frets.
>>
>>128814355
There is a nice symmetry to it. It tickles the autist in me (and I'm not even autistic afaik).
I found something else interesting. Did you know Beethoven and older composers mostly played a pianoforte to compose with (precursor to the modern piano) and it had 48 notes. Basically, the same thing as a 24 fret guitar.
>>
>>128814377
err 49 notes, I mean.
That's a pretty popular range for most people buying synths too.
>>

I'm tall and lanky too and it bothers me a lot. The fat body and the flat top make my right hand so far from the bridge that I can't play it comfortably while standing. My Les Paul in comparison feels great because the arched top pushes the bridge higher so even if there's no arm contour, my hand is still close to the bridge. I dunno.

posted this almost two months ago saying I’d check back in. it’s taken my tinnitus from an 8 to a 2-3. I also no longer or have yet to do the thing where my ear pops and I can’t hear anything but ringing for about 10 seconds since being on this medicine. my tinnitus is completely from noise exposure, not genetic and ironically not from music. it was all from unavoidable shit in the military

follow the directions. it’s 6 a day for 2 months then drop the dosage to 2-3 per day or whatever works for you. so that means it’s at least 2 bottles to know if it will do anything but I noticed improvements around 3 weeks and very good improvements around 6.

You don’t really need a video for that, the major scale is whole step whole step half step whole step whole step whole step half step. What instrument do you play?
>>
>>128815322
Guitar but I don't understand how the WWHWWWH works when I go down/up a string.
I.E. E-major scale but going down a string to A
>>
>>128815346
Ah guitar is tricky because the string spacing is asymmetrical with how there’s a fourth interval between every string except g-b which is a major third, so you have to move everything by one fret when going across the g-b gap. The best advice I have for your question is don’t fall into the trap of looking at guitar as shapes. Look at it as intervals. Chords are intervals just like scales are intervals. Play the A major scale starting on the fifth fret of the E string and play it just on that one string, up and down. Once you really have the notes in your mind, play a couple notes on the E string and then find the next two notes of the scale on the A string and then again on the next string, etc. Thinking in terms of “what note do I want next” and not in terms of “what’s the next move in a shape” is one of the best things you can do for your playing.
>>
>>128815381
I should add, sometimes it makes sense to play two notes per string, sometimes it makes sense to play three notes per string, sometimes just one note, depending on what string you’re starting from. You can start the scale from any string and in order to do this well it’s important to sort of hear in your mind the next note you want.
>>
>>128815346

i have 3 amps. fender blues jr. fender concert and a roland jc 120.
i have also done research. The fact my jc 120 can act as a PA for other instruments is what makes it superior. it can do anything. i also know musicians irl who told me a lot about the durability of the amp and what can be done with it.

With pedals nowadays you can have lots of drive on the JC to the point it sounds like a marshall. naturally it cannot do that without pedals which is a flaw for some.

True. You'd think with the knowhow of Roland/Boss, they'd just incorporate a better preamp gain themselves.

What’s the deal with the Roland JC-120?
They call it a Jazz Chorus
but somehow it’s in every genre except jazz.
It’s the loudest clean sound known to man.
Not loud like a rock amp
loud like an airport announcement.
You hit one note and the whole room goes,
“Now boarding… pain!”
And that chorus oh, the chorus!
People say, “It’s legendary.”
Yeah, because you can hear it from three counties away!
It’s not an effect, it’s a geographic feature.
And nobody just owns one.
They all say the same thing:
“You don’t overdrive a JC-120… you accept it.”
It doesn’t break up, it doesn’t warm up
it just tells you exactly how bad you sound… in stereo.

Saw another ad looking for a guitarist, but they play progressive stoner metal. Not my thing.

I also find it interesting how I went on a month long spree recording and mixing music ideas, accumulating around 10 tracks. Now I'm almost a year into not recording anything. Sometimes I think about bundling the stuff I have so far into an "official album" and release it, but it feels like a waste, in case I want to rework the ideas into something better later.

Is that a baritone neck? It looks kinda long. I was eying this baritone tele from Squier, but it's irresponsible to buy another guitar with a similar pickup configuration and features.
I'm getting it as a 3rd guitar probably, replacing the single-coil in the bridge with one of those humbuckers in single-coil format, so I can chug away.

The distortion sounds horrible. Is it meant to be that way? I haven't played the real one, but all the simulations or captures of that amp with the distortion knob turned up sound like shit. That makes me wonder, will distortion pedals ran through it also sound like shit? Can you also get that nice overdrive sound when pushing more gain into its "clean" channel turned all the way up with some overdrive or boost pedals?

He named Tool as an example and some other stoner/doom artists I don't know. I get what you're saying. From listening to a few of the staple stoner music artists, it sounds like the antithesis of progressive music. Perhaps they do interludes or switch up styles in the middle of songs.
