Schumann has very little talent in composing, his best piece is Happy Farmer. More precisely, Schumann is the worst kind of composer because he aspires to a level and depth far beyond his ability, while appointing himself undeservedly as sn authority to judge true talents (Chopin). He also ruined Clara Wieck, who was lightyears ahead of him as a musician.
What are some good songs to play along to on the sax

>Talking about himself, he says he is still very pedantic and thinks hard before writing fifths, etc., but when he needs to, he throws the rule book out of the window; Bach did the same, and that is why R.’s teacher Weinlig never really liked him.
I'm kinda turned on by this cover. 4 hot, talented men who DGAF about making silly faces. Cute.
Tired of Wagner posters
>>128952359I hate, hate the cover to be honest, it's peak :O reddit-face, but the performances are so good. Nice mix of clarity and expression.
Firstly secular music should be outlawed. Secondly music should ONLY be listened to in stone cathedrals.

>>128952367A nice painting would probably make a better cover, but nevertheless I think it's cute.
>>128952376Why can't instrumental music be sacred?
What piece is this?https://youtube.com/v/y0sllFZC4zYI was sure it was from Mozart's Requiem, but I skimmed through it and didn't find it.

>>128952519damn Nagano's movement durations on this are +2 minutes on every movement compared to Tintner's recording of the same edition, lol, and Tintner already has a rep for a somewhat broad conception of Brucker's music, wild
This 4th movement goes hard. 4th bowel movement that is
Medtner F Minor - Tozer. Side note, but a peculiar artwork for this one, very obviously medieval christian inspired, but the colors are extraordinarily deep. Russian artist named Nicholas Roerich from the same time period at Medtner, good choice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ljqy0cwAXE

I felt it was on a slower side.II. Allegro con grazia. Unimpressive here. Absolutely does not sound like a waltz.III. Allegro molto vivace. Played extra energetically. I really like how they play the main motif here. Overall on a more positive side as far as third movement goes. Ends bombastically.IV. Adagio lamentoso. Great, the finishing notes are accentuated. Tam-Tam goes off at 7:47.Overall great recording, except for the second movement.

Which is your favorite interpretation of Bach's Cello Suites?Mine are Pablo Casals. Might be a "basic" choice, but after listening to Yo-Yo Ma and Anastasia Kobekina, I still feel he comes on top.https://youtu.be/ePPMrX4YtkM?si=mlfAJ40hDlW0lNbm

>>128954593Alisa Weilerstein's is my overall favorite, followed by some combination of Maisky (his first set), Truls Mork, Zurill Bailey, and Fournier. It's changing all the time though, and really just depends on my mood.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwoUBB40DiM&list=OLAK5uy_kM_ZxEAoco4I844xNlSvDl4nNYR_q0hbU&index=7pic is a good resource for finding and trying new sets (check their website for reviews). You tried all three of Yo-Yo Ma's sets? And for Casals, I've never been a fan of his but I respect those who like his. >>128957676In other words: you have no real criticism or useful comments to make besides meaningless nationality-based buzzwords in a feigned attempt to provide any validity to your vapid thoughts. >Listen, scrutinize, find your way independently to the senses of music, Don't look around. Save your musical ear before it is too late.>The intonation of the musical senses is in any case no less important than the intonation of our inanimate instruments, The ear that can determine only the pitch of separate - and hence not musical, sounds, does not yet constitute absolute musical hearing, as it is commonly called by musicians,>Goethe speaks of the peculiar trait in human nature which makes us little interested in the depths hidden underneath the surface of the waters, and impatient for the moment when the surface will cover itself with a crust of ice, in order to be able to skate on it with complete abandon.>These words are applicable. to any well-knit majority in all fields and epochs, Contemporary society which is so proud of its preoccupation with all sorts of depths, of its psychological analysis, of its revolutionary daring, is not aware that in reality it ismerely skating on a crust of ice, which has formed itself (alas!) not only over the depths of the clear waters of great art, but also over the big puddle on the surface of the irresponsible "creations" of the"geniuses' of yesterday.>The task of our epoch consists therefore primarily in an attempt to melt the ice, both of the surface of great art, as also of the contemporary puddle.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6Uwxf_UPW0

>>128957949what about Symphony -1?
>>128957975not as good as -1^2.
>>128957921Brahms not making larger scale solo or dual piano pieces is a grand disappointment. Probably too scared of the sonata form because of Beethoven, unlike Medtner, even 34b was originally intended as a string quartet. That being said, 34b probably lived a better live as a quintet, which saved it of some of the mediocrity. Fantastic theme though, very memorable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOin_fCw8uE
