I bought a elixir polyweb pack forever go. They had a really thick coating on the strings. any guitar with an angled headstock and the nut right there will snap a headstock, which is interesting because they only snap if they land nut side down. having the truss rod cavity remove 30% of the available wood there doesn’t help but even martins will snap too. what’s funny is hockey stick designs like Ibanez and Jackson will snap vertically. fenders can split along the tuner bushing holes also.

Pretty sure I saw a blindfold challenge on Andertons where Rob Chappers dinged a headstock on another guitar. Happens to even the best.
>>
Due to the angle of a fender headstock, even when a strat takes a trip to the floor the headstock absorbs less of the impact. The also have less weight and less weight to begin with. And even if it did break, it won't be much to get a new strat neck instead of a whole new guitar.
>>
>>129024379
the prob with fender necks is they can split without being dropped. the wood just shrinks and the bushing splits along the grain. not very common and easy glue up

and just has to strum wildly
also you miss out on those sweet bass tones of the drop d

no learn chords by the songs I try to play. Like if there's a chord I don't know. I have to learn it on the fly.
>>
>>129021670
Everybody sing in a key since the notes are always the same regardless the instruments they are being playing. And yes, your voice is also an instrument.
>>
>>129026072
Sing a note when you hear a chord. If you sing the right note, you are probably singing a chord tone, whether a root, a third or a fifth. Generally speaking, when you sing the lower note properly you are probably singing the root note, so singing it is a good starting point.
>>
>>129026052
He’s known as having incredible right hand control, especially when playing acoustic. His five string Telecaster is tuned to open D, and not having the low D leaves space for the bass in the mix. He plays other guitars when he’s in standard tuning.

One thing I didn't know prior was the batwing pickguard and the treb PUP distance to the string. Because the string break angle the front of the PUP is close as hell to the strings to get the strings close to the poles. Maybe next time I change out strings I'll stick some foam under the guard. Not really an issue atm.

Not really, i just like to talk shit about it. Essentially I couldn't get the pickup loud to enough due to the edge of the pickup hitting the strings during palm muting sloppa sessions. And there is no way to change the angle to match the string angle. also the tailpiece had to be raised in the air like 30mm

Everyone talks shit about the heavy neck but i play forward on the neck and neck pickup mostly anyway lol.

It doesn't then, unfortunately.
In all seriousness, maybe extreme heat can make the tolex covering get loose. But I doubt it.
If it's digital, heat is probably not a good thing either. The hotter your chips get, the sketchier the operation where it might throttle a bit. But again, that's probably an extreme scenario.

>also the tailpiece had to be raised
For what purpose? I'm new to Gibshit and all I've read about the tailpiece height is that it's mostly personal preference- lower is more sustain but less slinky action and opposite for higher. Does it change anything else?

My front end of the PUP is pretty close but I must not be as heavy handed with my palm muting and haven't really ran into issues regarding it. It is a little annoying though but I guess it is what it is. I know they sell rings for them but you gotta alter your pickguard and stuff too to fit them.
>>
>>129026155
Try both ways. Some fuzz sounds great being pushed by an OD, others just get super compressed and one dimensional
>>
>>129026969
it might have been just that particular guitar from 02.

basically the strings were touching the neck with the relief backed off all the way, so raising the tailpiece picked the strings up a lot.

If the tailpiece is too far down, the edge of the bridge is a sharp place to break the strings at

What's a good cheap model with coil splitting you can get used? I'm thinking about changing the pickups for PAFs anyways. So it should just have a decent quality and playability.

I sold it to a music store for 20 dollars just to take it off my hands since I was moving and needed to get rid of stuff
I told him I was just gonna throw it in the trash otherwise

Same, but I dont have a Squier. Happened to my Ibanez. For some reason it was fine when it travelled from Japan but 5 years after sitting out of its case the neck just shrunk. Roasted maple btw

Anyone know if you can get a strat neck pickup sound from a jaguar or jazzmaster?
I'd really prefer a locking trem and the volume knob out of my way, but I still need that neck pickup sound
>>
>>129028516
Ibanez is one of the worst quality guitars judging from my experience of working in a lgs for a few years. mexican martins are almost as bad. I had an Ibanez premium bass and while it was functionally ok it was pretty soulless
>>
>>129028531
Doesn't your jizzmaster have mini humbuckers and a strat has single coils?
>>
>>129028526
Japan is a high humidity climate. the average household with climate control will be 30% in the summer and downwards of 15% humidity in the winter. guitar wood is stable around 35-40%

My Jaguar’s neck pickup is phenomenal sounding. It really hits the same spot for me as a Strat neck pickup. The Strat neck has been my absolute favorite sound since I started playing a Strat almost 20 years ago and the Jag is as close as I’ve ever gotten from a guitar that isn’t a Strat to get that sound, to the point that I’ll often play my Jag instead of a Strat simply because the neck is so close and the Jag’s vibrato is better than a Strat.

You're just asking for this to happen eventually. I've seen this happen to a Fender which eventually got dropped and smashed when the perp tried to get away.
