Had to set the action to 2mm on the low E and 1,75mm on the high E. It got rid of some of the buzz, but it's really high. The open E still buzzes before ringing out, that's strange. The buzz doesn't appear initially, only before it rings out.
What action do you people have on your Strat-like guitars?

I don't know if it's worth paying 300€ for a PLEK setup which is more of a peace of mind or if I should just cut my losses. Knowing that the frets are uneven and that one isn't even seated correctly (can push a 0.0015 inch feeler-gauge under it) messes with my head. I can't live with the "wasteful" feeling of having a guitar that I don't like.

The only positive thing from this Sire disaster is that it made me appreciate my Squier even more. That thing has a perfect neck, they must have accidentally used a Fender neck on it in the factory or something.

Could someone recommend me a chord theory book that will help me understand progressions and resolves at a higher level so I can get out of a song writing blockage? My technique is fine, but my theory is ass.
>>
Missed the new thread when replying about Strat neck pickups.
>>129028531 #
My Jaguar’s neck pickup is phenomenal sounding. It really hits the same spot for me as a Strat neck pickup. The Strat neck has been my absolute favorite sound since I started playing a Strat almost 20 years ago and the Jag is as close as I’ve ever gotten from a guitar that isn’t a Strat to get that sound, to the point that I’ll often play my Jag instead of a Strat simply because the neck is so close and the Jag’s vibrato is better than a Strat.
>>
>>129029814
that’s the action on my bass. if you really like it get it plekd
>>
>>129029817
maybe check out 20th century harmony book
>>
>>129029859
Everything I've read so far has mostly pointed towards Ted Greene's 'Chord Chemistry.' What do y'all think?
>>
No one ITT loves poojitas and guitars more than I do.
>>
>>129029817
"A Chordal Concept for Jazz Guitar" by Peter O'Mara is bretty good for chord grips. As far as understanding progressions, I guess just get familiar with cadences and cliches like
ii V7 I
iim7b5 V7alt i
I vi ii V
I7 VI7 II7 V7
IV iv I

>>129029928
Chord Chemistry is highly lauded. There's a guy on YouTube who was working through the book as a kind of play-along study. Might be worth checking out.

https://youtu.be/ySoRFyt22go

Also Nelson Faria's "Acordes, Arpejos e Escalas" is good too. No need to learn Portuguese, as the diagrams are self-explanatory.
>>
>>129029847
Is that really considered high? At first I was convinced, because plenty of online sources, including the MusicNomad string action gauge say 1,50mm/1,25mm to be ideal. But then I read elsewhere online and people mention 2mm to be acceptable.

For the same money I could have gotten a Fender Player II Modified, with the same specs. Really makes me want to euthanize myself.
I have contacted the support team from the seller to see what they can do. It's kinda embarrassing, because they'll most likely tell me they can't do anything since I broke their return criteria and that the buzz is acceptable since it most likely can't be heard with an amp and that the uneven frets are within an acceptable threshold.

How can I dampen the sound of my acoustic when playing so it isn't so loud when I play at night? Not like palm muting or fretting hand muting I want to play normally but for the guitar to be quieter so I don't wake my parents up
>>
>>129029973
not for a bass, it’s considered medium low.
>from the seller

>>
>>129030013
They make sound hole plugs. Maybe stuff a couple t-shirts or a towel in there too, idk. also maybe jam a spong or something under the strings near the saddles man I don't know. I always feel like it's still too loud.
>>
im curious, what guitar & bass would y'all recommend for a beginner and why that specific model?
>>
Reminder that unless you got a custom shop guitar made specifically for you and received it or picked it up immediately after it was built, your new guitar literally isn't new as it's likely been sitting on a warehouse or a store for months and been touched and played by countless people before you

>>
>>129030350
amps are for vibes, if you are into them then they will always win over modelers just because of that; sound quality-wise modern mid+ tier modelers are the same quality as amps (with modelers winning by a landslide on the versatility and portability departments)

Nice choice. The color is great. I was inspired by Masayoshi Takanaka to get one. Pic related.
On the humbuckers, position 2 is the most trebly (great with high gain) and position 5 sounds the clearest with clean tone.
This is my favorite guitar. Stays in tune to infinity. Just changed the strings the other day and it plays like it's invisible. The music just gets channeled through it. It's the one piece of gear I've bought in years that actually inspired me to play more and create/produce more musical ideas

I want to, but getting it is gonna use up all the money I saved for edrums. And the only reason I want another LP style is cause I love the shape and the frets on my LP studio got pretty low after all these years. This one's got some nice contours too for better access. I think I would rather go for a Tele but there's nothing in that price range with an arm cut. But this one is so damn gorgeous too, I love the lemon burst so much. Fuck. Decisions, decisions...

Cause it's a really good looking LP clone with some nice specs for a low price. It's got contours too. I love my LP studio but its frets are fairly worn out by now and it is a little on the heavy side which I like but wouldn't demand. Also thought about having a second LP so I can keep one in standard and one in flat for convenience.

Incorporate daily habits that reinforce steady rhythm:
>snap your fingers when you walk, with each step
>click your tongue in time to the turn signal whenever you are in a car or bus
>any time you are in an airport waiting at the gate and they announce "X minutes to boarding", start counting down in a high voice and see how close you can get to the actual/exact time
>carry a stopwatch and time how long it takes people to do things; a waitress in a cafe pouring your cup of coffee, or a police officer answering a question, for example

okay three things in this image. first is a rhythmic grid, second is triplets, and bottom is sextuplets. you can do quintuplets also just write a 5 over it. first, write down 2 bars of random rhythms on the rhythmic grid, go for variety. each X indicates a 16th note you play. start at 30 bpm with a metronome and play those rhythms. it’s actually a lot harder than you think to go slow. keep an eye on the ones that are hard and practice those more. once you get it down try removing the 2nd and 4th beats of the metronome. make a new list every week or two. 2) exercise pick a bpm on the metronome around 85-115 bpm something that isn’t too fast or slow. come up with a lick or riff that lasts one or two bars, make sure you always come in with a hit on the 1. keep going around in a loop and always play the one but change the rhythm and notes for the last part. people tend to rush licks when they aren’t comfortable with the time. this will train you to internalize where you are within the measure. eventually you can work in ghost notes rests etc into these exercises. keep it simple and just start with fretted notes. work your way up to chords and strumming patterns when you can handle it

word. you should see substantial progress in a few weeks. some people even do weird stuff with their body. like Nathan east alternates feet tapping, Freddie Washington taps quarter notes with his feet. You also have to factor in things like compression, reverb, IR or Mics and placement and things added in post etc etc. I like to play with a signal dry af as distortion already compresses, I just usually add the compression and reverb/delay and maybe some light eq in post

All in all, solid enough to jam at a blues bar.

Very good. You have a very nice vibrato. Some interesting note choices and you let the track breathe. The little diminshed sounding lick was a little stiff which through the rhythm off. All in all very good. You mixed up the rhymic ideas a bit too. Strong ending too.

Id also pay $20 to watch you play a local jam.
