Ended up moving the neck to a stratosonic and got an Ebony for the Nashville tele

any music theory discussion?want to talk about modes?
>>129029621This, but unironically. https://voca.ro/181sqgaBPeCw
>>129029626I've heard of fretless guitars but I don't think I've seen a stringless one before
>>129029695I like this tone but it's too modulated to be clean
>>129029699WDYM
Had to set the action to 2mm on the low E and 1,75mm on the high E. It got rid of some of the buzz, but it's really high. The open E still buzzes before ringing out, that's strange. The buzz doesn't appear initially, only before it rings out. What action do you people have on your Strat-like guitars?I don't know if it's worth paying 300€ for a PLEK setup which is more of a peace of mind or if I should just cut my losses. Knowing that the frets are uneven and that one isn't even seated correctly (can push a 0.0015 inch feeler-gauge under it) messes with my head. I can't live with the "wasteful" feeling of having a guitar that I don't like. The only positive thing from this Sire disaster is that it made me appreciate my Squier even more. That thing has a perfect neck, they must have accidentally used a Fender neck on it in the factory or something.
Could someone recommend me a chord theory book that will help me understand progressions and resolves at a higher level so I can get out of a song writing blockage? My technique is fine, but my theory is ass.
Missed the new thread when replying about Strat neck pickups. >>129028531 #My Jaguar’s neck pickup is phenomenal sounding. It really hits the same spot for me as a Strat neck pickup. The Strat neck has been my absolute favorite sound since I started playing a Strat almost 20 years ago and the Jag is as close as I’ve ever gotten from a guitar that isn’t a Strat to get that sound, to the point that I’ll often play my Jag instead of a Strat simply because the neck is so close and the Jag’s vibrato is better than a Strat.
>>129029814that’s the action on my bass. if you really like it get it plekd
>>129029817maybe check out 20th century harmony book
>>129029859Everything I've read so far has mostly pointed towards Ted Greene's 'Chord Chemistry.' What do y'all think?
No one ITT loves poojitas and guitars more than I do.
>>129029817"A Chordal Concept for Jazz Guitar" by Peter O'Mara is bretty good for chord grips. As far as understanding progressions, I guess just get familiar with cadences and cliches likeii V7 Iiim7b5 V7alt iI vi ii VI7 VI7 II7 V7IV iv I>>129029928Chord Chemistry is highly lauded. There's a guy on YouTube who was working through the book as a kind of play-along study. Might be worth checking out.https://youtu.be/ySoRFyt22goAlso Nelson Faria's "Acordes, Arpejos e Escalas" is good too. No need to learn Portuguese, as the diagrams are self-explanatory.
>>129029847Is that really considered high? At first I was convinced, because plenty of online sources, including the MusicNomad string action gauge say 1,50mm/1,25mm to be ideal. But then I read elsewhere online and people mention 2mm to be acceptable. For the same money I could have gotten a Fender Player II Modified, with the same specs. Really makes me want to euthanize myself.I have contacted the support team from the seller to see what they can do. It's kinda embarrassing, because they'll most likely tell me they can't do anything since I broke their return criteria and that the buzz is acceptable since it most likely can't be heard with an amp and that the uneven frets are within an acceptable threshold.
>>129029948JM Poojita makes a return.
How can I dampen the sound of my acoustic when playing so it isn't so loud when I play at night? Not like palm muting or fretting hand muting I want to play normally but for the guitar to be quieter so I don't wake my parents up
>>129029973not for a bass, it’s considered medium low. >from the selleroh I never buy shit from reverb. if you bought it from a box store you could’ve just walked in and returned it
>>129030013put your arm across the soundboard and bridge
>>129030013They make sound hole plugs. Maybe stuff a couple t-shirts or a towel in there too, idk. also maybe jam a spong or something under the strings near the saddles man I don't know. I always feel like it's still too loud.
im curious, what guitar & bass would y'all recommend for a beginner and why that specific model?
Reminder that unless you got a custom shop guitar made specifically for you and received it or picked it up immediately after it was built, your new guitar literally isn't new as it's likely been sitting on a warehouse or a store for months and been touched and played by countless people before you

is this good for a first guitar pedal?
>>129033975okay three things in this image. first is a rhythmic grid, second is triplets, and bottom is sextuplets. you can do quintuplets also just write a 5 over it. first, write down 2 bars of random rhythms on the rhythmic grid, go for variety. each X indicates a 16th note you play. start at 30 bpm with a metronome and play those rhythms. it’s actually a lot harder than you think to go slow. keep an eye on the ones that are hard and practice those more. once you get it down try removing the 2nd and 4th beats of the metronome. make a new list every week or two. 2) exercise pick a bpm on the metronome around 85-115 bpm something that isn’t too fast or slow. come up with a lick or riff that lasts one or two bars, make sure you always come in with a hit on the 1. keep going around in a loop and always play the one but change the rhythm and notes for the last part. people tend to rush licks when they aren’t comfortable with the time. this will train you to internalize where you are within the measure. eventually you can work in ghost notes rests etc into these exercises. keep it simple and just start with fretted notes. work your way up to chords and strumming patterns when you can handle it

>>129034661>https://voca.ro/1g06cB5o85oLthis is actually very nice. well done anon.im surprised you've done so well at overcoming your disabilitiesyou know your phrasing sounds a lot like>>129034472 almost makes me think its software.because of licks like 1:46
https://voca.ro/1fvYjITdFLHM
>>129034570You also have to factor in things like compression, reverb, IR or Mics and placement and things added in post etc etc. I like to play with a signal dry af as distortion already compresses, I just usually add the compression and reverb/delay and maybe some light eq in postMy rig is right in front of me, 4CM quad cortex with a 1x12 valve amp and after recording and hearing it on my shitty pc speakers of course it doesn't sound as big and bassy when playing it live>>129034661Nice>>129034667Kek thanks, I'll try this one in a bit. I'm sure you've done that fast descending 4+4+4+1 phrase before but I needa activate my brain cells to catch up with those very fast rolling R's at the end>>129034599beep boop lol thanks, but I'll take that (even if twas a backhanded compliment) as they're great players>>129034686He's more bluesy and that's just the diminished scale in E
>>129034794he plays very similarly other than the fact his tone is a different setting.i think you are the same nigga. normally i dont find 2 players on par with my skill.the thing that makes it seem AI is the fact you guys have very little looseness to your playing. all the notes are tight and perfectly articulated. In blues playing you almost want some of your notes to be slurred and sloppier sounding
>twas
>>129034810>the notes are tight and perfectly articulatedIt's because I'm a professional jazz shredder with 89k subscribers in YT.jk, lol ok thanks. might be the magic of compression. The slide playing and the noises it made behind was quite sloppy desu. Though if there's anything that makes me suspect the other anon is from sunoai or what have you it's only the well made rearrangement at the end which is different from the backing track. Playing wise it sounds human>>129034667https://vocaroo.com/1nYMw0G87xpG

the word bass should not be pronounced like base

>>129036002it’s unbelievable… but it happened
>>129035996kek. Though I do know of one awesome guitarist who also used "just" a katana as an interface to record his guitar stuff into a DAW>>129035952Cool song, I only realized from listening now that Nujabe's (Aurarian dance?) head came from that song as its new to me ears though I like George Benson. I'll try a shid playthrough over a backing track some time tomorrow, you mind posting your take on it as well?>>129035987It's nothing special, an HSH signature Charvel, a british tube amp with a 1x12 V30 speaker, quad cortex 4 cable method with those into Reaper. I really would'nt want posting pics of anything of mine here in 4chinz, there are several autists/lolcows here who have been tracked because of those. Off my head are Sam, Roman grabagoobagool, pink suhr guy, dead ibanez kid and I'm sure there's more. It's just stuff that you've seen shilled before in YT kek
>>129036084no balls
>>129034047>>129034053I'm building one just like that in koa. I'll post it in about a week. DM me if you're interested in buying it.It'll have the EVH DiMarzio set. Air Norton neck and Tone Zone bridge.

Does anyone have experience with Wilkinson trems? They're supposed to be pretty good but honestly I don't see it. Tried to intonate it once only to realize that the fucking screw just spins around and it's not even connected to the saddle to move it! Fuck! To this day I regret not going for a hardtail version of that guitar.
>>129034810bba like the 12th best player in here lmao
>>129032809Why are you pretending to be me? Lmfao
>>129036369Yamaha?
>>129036369Everyone buying all these fancy trems when Leo got it right in 1958 with the Jazzmaster trem and nothing has improved on it since.
>>129036427Benton. It's literally the only thing bad about that guitar. Fucker came crooked from the box, one post screwed deeper than the other. Couldn't even deck it cause the posts won't screw in low enough, had to stick a piece of wood behind it. >>129036448I wish it had a strat trem with six screws honestly.
>>129036448Panorama trem is better im afraid
>>129036508>BentonYou stupid niggers keep buying this bullshit brand. Motherfuck guitar influencers
https://vocaroo.com/18ulYY5Efipn
>>129036613>benton bad epiphone good
>>129036369I like them better than the fender trem. Harley Benton/Thomann used these in their pro and more expensive strats iirc
>>129035327https://youtu.be/XCGQiGEYl4Y?si=QkN-seHHZV_pdhur&t=14
>>129036613are you a mutt or something?bentons are good for their price
>>129036613They are really good for the price. Stainless steel frets, flamed neck, alnico pups, locking tuners, branded trem. All under 500 dollars. Fender would charge you 2.5k+ for anything even approximating that>>129036508You may want to contact thomann good chance your guitar was damaged in shipping or just bad QC or both
>>129036703so thats the ins[iration for those, cool. it sounds like a kazoo with the distortion on the vocals during the solo
>>129036613Ah yes, because if it was on some other brand of guitar, that trem would magically work perfectly!Fucking dumbass. As if squier or epiphone are any better. They get shilled just as much by those influencer faggots so you just look stupid for having a hate boner for just one specific brand. >>129036708Yeah it definitely had qc issues like the frets being completely unpolished. It's too late now though, been a few years since I got it so I gotta fix it up on my own. I'm hoping to do a hardtail conversion one of these days, also sand of an arm cut in the process but I don't think that'll happen soon.
>>129035642no. I can only assume you are referring to the shadow being cast by the string
huh what?
I have a question but I’m saving it so I don’t get doxxed from photos of my guitars.
Setting up my partners Bass VI and the action was insanely high. Going to need a shim (well, another) and some new strings. Fun that her guitar matches my offset. Any fresh set ups that people here are working on?
he's talking to himself again isn't he
>>129036960A guitar should be coming in the mail tomorrow and idk how it’s set up from the previous owner but I’m expecting to need to set it up myself and go up a string gauge
>>129029651Sure, you talking diatonic modes or modes based on more complex scales?
>>129037043nice dude! what did you snag? I have a new guitar coming in about 3 months.
>>129037109that offset is sacrilege
>>129036960>stealing images from facebook

I enjoy playing my electric unplugged way more than playing my acoustic. It's weird.
^^^fuckin lol^^^
I say something funny pal?
>>129037136Why? 27" Baritone tuned to C standard/B standard too much for you??
>>129037149Didnt steal anything i pop back here sometimes to see whats up.
>>129036084I don't know enough jazz to play over affirmation convincingly. But love to see your take>>129036371I am top 3 when it comes to blues desu
cmon man you dont need a baritone. don't fall for it man just get a bass.
>>129037300having a guitarist play bass is only okay if it’s for metal
>>129033761didn't eddie boil his strings instead of replacing themI doubt he used meme branded shit
>>129037209well electrics are more ergonomic all around. not just the body shape but the fingerboard and the bridge radius can be set precisely for a better play.
>>129037453wrong
>>129037478I'm pretty sure he isn't using them right now though
>>129033106Pretty decent, starts really strong. You follow the chord changes well but here is what I noticed>melodic ideas get pretty repetitive>rhythmic ideas are also pretty repetitive>Note choices are solid, but very safe.>phrasing feels very stream of conscious and safe. No buildup or releaseAll in all, solid enough to jam at a blues bar.
>>129034472Much better than Black Blues Anon's upload. Very interesting. Strong note choices. Good command of dynamics. Great bends. Rhythmic variations were refreshing. All in all, great. If you were playing locally I would pay $20 to see you live.
>>129034661Very good. You have a very nice vibrato. Some interesting note choices and you let the track breathe. The little diminshed sounding lick was a little stiff which through the rhythm off. All in all very good. You mixed up the rhymic ideas a bit too. Strong ending too. Id also pay $20 to watch you play a local jam.All in all, I think the top 3 itt are: Reaper chad: >>129034472Quadrasped: >>129034661BBA: >>129033106
>>12903310615 years...wasted
Reaper chad sounds insane
If I can improvise using basic chord progressions but very colorful, intricate chord voicings and extensions and more advanced guitarists ask me what song I'm playing does that mean I'm good yet?
>>129037627depends on how they asked it. if they asked in a white way, maybe. if they asked in a black way, definitely not.
>>129037627It all depends on what your goals are on the guitar mate. But id say yes
>>129037610I don't get why you think it's a waste. I'm in 2 bands and I play better than you do. Don't believe the myth that 10+ years means mastery or excellence. A lot of the times guitarist plateau at the intermediate stage and never reach advanced level.
>>129037635Whitest way possible, it wasn't a a "hey homie, the fuck is that shit?" lol>>129037636Hell yeah dude, 15 years not wasted
>>129037650You have a really high sense of self, which is likely what holds your playing back. You are blues bar jam level.
>>129037650>2 bandsthat's awesome man where can I buy tickets
>>129037662I didn't see a voca from you
>>129037662I just think I'm better than most here because most people here talk shit. But I really am humble irl. Id listen to my vocaroo again if I were you. I think I did a great job. That was my goal to reach that level and now that I am the next goal is to be one of the best local blues players
>>129037708I recently moved overseas and sold my PC and almost all my gear. I have a headphone amp and use a Steam Deck for a PC. Once I get a proper recording setup again, Ill upload.
>>129037717Sheesh dude why'd you sell everything. Just take it with you.
>>129037724I didn't realize ai bros were about to annihalate the PC parts markets, so I naively thought I would build a desktop once I got here and dragged my ass on it. I live in a Townhouse with neighbors on both ends so I'm not ready for an amp yet.
>>129037662idk if you’re new here but bba was normal until /gg/ bullied him constantly. all you’re seeing is the result of that.
Festival with drummer friend, guitar friend and bongo friend this Thursday. I cant wait to jam with other people. I need to do some sheet reading practice tonight and my scales/intervals. Figured out how to get a good tone from my darkglass with my pedals. Took a lot of tinkering to get the distortion to come through. Also the Alpha Omnicron on the amp is bad compared to the pedal. No bite or growl button on the amp. Thats really what makes the omicron good imo.
...Thread :)
>Steam DeckL0L
>>129037756>no bite growl buttonif it’s anything like the anagram they moved it to a toggle slider in a sub menu.
>>129037743I come and go here. I usually go months without visiting /mu/ and mostly just shit up /metal/ with wiggerslam posting
A message from the heart to /gg/https://voca.ro/1mrobajXsl0O

are we really doing this shit?
>>129037787that’s unfortunately the risk you run with this place. the good players leave because there’s no one here advanced enough to actually discuss music and gear posting incites class wars. I have nowhere else to go but since I phonepost I just check the thread once every couple of hours. been here since 05 can handle the bantz but I refuse to go to a circlejerk hugbox and actively lose brain cells
>>129037813>>129037813>>129037813
wtf I thought was gonna sound like a gangsta nigga from the hood, not michael cera
>>129037797You don't sound black. My point is, if you were more critical of your playing you would make more progress. The best players are almost never content with their playing and are always trying to ascend to the next level. Post hand, I can't believe you are black.
