Newb from the last thread. Thanks to the anon who recommended me Troy Grady's cracking the code. Turns out what I was doing was called stringhopping when I should be alternate picking. I knew it felt wrong, but I didnt know why.
How much of a pain is it do sell guitars on Reverb and deal with shipping? I’m thinking about selling some guitars and have only ever done so locally but I live in a small town and locally takes ages. I’ve never sold on Reverb or shipped a guitar before, but there’s a guy in town with a Reverb shop who said he’ll pack up and ship my guitars after I sell them myself for $40 plus whatever the shipping cost is (how do you even get guitar sized boxes without constantly buying guitars?) or he will sell them on his on Reverb shop for a 20% consignment fee. Is it worth dealing with all of Reverb’s fees myself and all of the idiot buyers who complain about every single thing when I can just let someone else who already knows what he’s doing handle it for the price of a fifth of the sale?

These strings are great, they sound so much better than EB or Dildarios. $30 for 3 custom sets and free shipping and that’s just crazy. I tried 11-50 first but 50 was just a bit too much tension on my Jazzmaster that I have been using power slinky’s on. The poop green JM, it’s resonant as fuck unplugged but with these it’s downright loud unplugged now and sounds twice as good when amplified. 10/10 highly recommend.

Recently got a Squire Strat at a pawn shop for $80. Haven't played for 6 years or so, good to get back into it. Surprised how much I remembered. XGP has some cheap bodies, like $100 and they look ok, I've seen some on eBay for around 120 that look great too. I have zero experience with building and modding guitars, but a fair amount of experience with electronics, and woodwork so I'm not worried about that at all, it looks trivial. My cost breakdown is as follows:60-80 for the neck. (Chinese eBay neck, as I said, it can be luck of the draw, but from what I've read they're generally very good quality, sometimes with minor imperfections. My strat has some pretty big ones.)Probably another $50-$60 for fret / neck tools, but thats ok. 120ish for the body, its just a strat sunburst. Again, I'll probably go with an eBay body as I've heard better things than XGP. Probably around $30 for misc stuff, hardware, backplate, pickguard etcAs far as the electronics, tuners, trem, that's where I'd invest actual money as those parts hold there value more and can be moved into other guitars. Even if I got a production strat, I would probably change the pickups.So to me $230 sounds pretty cheap, I don't think I'm missing anything in terms of skills needed, and if the neck or body turn out to be absolutely shit (which seems pretty unlikely), I'm not out by that much.
