Jaguars don't sell to normies they look weird. Normies see the SG as the "cool" guitar and the strat as the "generic" guitar. They don't know the other ones.
>>
>>129242469
My area has two stores, one of which has a handful of fender/squire strats because it's focused on school band rentals, and the other only carries b-tier brands and lower, with the most notable brands being cort and tagima.
>>
I wonder what the bass6 would sound like with jazzmaster pickups
>>
>>129242495
Gibson is the old man guitar now and fender is what kids want to play.
>>
JHS may be a meme brand at this point, but their Muff in conjunction with EHX is worth checking out. It’s the best sounding Muff for my money and pairs really nicely with OD and even Muff stacking. I’m going to preempt the anon who will say “your pedals are too spaced out”, the closer your pedals are together is a direct correlation with how gay you are and how well you fit in on r/pedalboard. Shoe size factors into this equation as well and everyone knows that correlates with dick and ball size and by extension, level and quality of toan.
>>
>>129242776
Fender sits in the same category in my mind. It's resting on 50+ year old laurels just like Gibson.

i get it but isnt that like 70% of rock music. if i want clean i should just go acoustic. Its finger picked with some light touches and harder pickings strewn about. Im just kinda dancing with the reverb.

Also my friend is looking for his first guitar too. Is this a good deal? Hes in the 500-700 price range.

Its a multi scale guitar
>short scale (think Les Paul) better for wide vibrato but doesnt handle detuning well
>long scale (think Telecaster, or on the extreme end a Baritone guitar) better for detuning but vibrato is harder

Multiscale guitars are the best of both worlds.

https://voca.ro/12hjmN5LkcxD
>>
>>129248069
Depends what you're playing. Wes Montgomery? Cannibal Corpse? Practice with high headroom clean, with distortion, then at band practice volumes

If you only play clean you might not notice you're making extraneous noises
If you only play distorted you may feel confident you're getting the notes out but it might be the compression carrying your technique
If you don't practice playing loud it may suprise you when you actually play with a drummer
>>
>>129242469
Not sure if it's still like this, but I worked for many years in a big music store in Scandinavia and you could only carry Fender products if you had a certain amount of it. So you basically had to carry their entire catalogue of products if you wanted to sell anything. And you pretty much made no money from them. The profit margin was so low you could barely get employee discounts on any Fender stuff.
That's probably why stores pack so much Fender gear. Fender have also been way better at appealing to younger generations while Gibson have gone full on Harley Davidson strategy.
>>

Sometimes is fine
You dont want to always practice on distortion because you might accidentally be hiding/missing errors in your finger dynamics
But also you do need to have some understanding of how distortion affects your playing so you should practice both sometimes
Generally though you want to practice with clean tone and then turn the distortion on for full playthroughs
>>
>>129248550
if you can't hear the mistake with distortion, did the mistake matter?

Post a specific exercise you like
>>
>>129248942
First take: the mixing is horrid. It hurt my ears listening with headphones. The "bass" sounded nice. Get your ass to /prod/ and get mixing tips.

Aside from that, I enjoyed it. What this really needs is s b-section. It feels like its building up to something that never comes. Doesn't have to be too crazy. You could literally just play the same shit but with some big messy powerchords.

If you want to cheese the solo, get a whammy pedal.

All in all, solid effort especially for a first production.
>>
>>129249845
who tf is "hinds"?
>>
>>129249851
Here's a good exercise.
C Major (Transpose this to other keys)
CEGAFGE
DFABGAF
(Repeat this pattern up the neck)
The entire time you do this, you must stay within a 4-fret spread. If going to the next note requires you to stretch your pinky or index finger out of position, that means you need to find a place along the way to shift to the next scale position on the neck.
>>
>>129249875
by "repeat this pattern" i mean do the same pattern but the first note goes up the C major scale, so each time you repeat the pattern it's gone up by one note
>>
>>129249883
>1 3 5 6 4 5 3

What's the idea behind the pattern?
>>
>>129249898
IDK that's just what my teacher had me practice and I like it. There's a lot of note skipping so it forces you to think differently about when you should switch to the next scale pattern, but it ascends and descends in a predictable way which gives you time to figure it out.
>>
>>129249851
incline db bench press and atg barbell squats
>>
>>129249898
Also I fucked up theres one more note
1 3 5 6 4 5 3 4
Then when you repeat the pattern it loops into the next sequence nicely.
>>
>>129249977
my favorites are yates rows and barbell curls
>>
For me, it's Arnold Press. I had a shoulder injury and really thought I needed surgery, but a few weeks of Arnold Press completely cured by shoulder pain. Don't sleep on it
>>
>>129250030
lifts like those always seemed a bit memey to me. i found that the more bread and butter an exercise is, the better it was for me. standard presses, rows, curls, etc. zerchers are lit though
>>
>>129249851
I do squats incline chest press dumbbell and barbell, dumbbell curls probably my favorites.
>>
>>129249995
hell yeah. those rows are great for rear delta and traps
>>
>>129249990
Am I supposed to use the same 4-frets spread all the way through? Or can I change it when I have done the pattern starting from C and go to do the pattern starting from D, etc.?
>>
>>129250213
It will not be on the first note of the pattern, it will be somewhere in the middle of a pattern when you need to shift your whole hand up a fret or two to the next position. If you do it at the start of a pattern only, you'll hit a point where you can't fret the next note without stretching, and the point of the exercise is not to do that.
>>
>>129250213
I would separate your practice so you can focus on developing the muscle memory of the scale itself better. keep same shape when changing keys, if you want to practice different shapes keep the same key
>>
>>129250121
I thought it was a meme too, but one day I just thought, "well, Arnold is Arnold" and that night my shoulder felt better than ever. Been doing it twice a week last few months and my shoulder is basically healed. For reference, my shoulder was so fucked I could barely drive my motorcycle
>>
>>129250264
oh i can see it definitely helping if you have a shoulder injury when you put it like that. glad it helped, injuries are such a pain in the ass.
>>
>>129250264

>>
>>129250226
https://voca.ro/1iosSr8BKygR
>>
>>129249861
yes the mixing is chaotic it's a whole new world for me that need some time to understand. I struggle to follow a guideline and building it like a story but with this first try I learnt a lot where I was unable to get my head around before on how to leave some space between different parts, how to "finish" a song. I was planning to add a b section indeed because it feel too short but I wanted some advices first to see what could go wrong for now

overall after a few days struggling I finally really enjoyed playing and improvising over each layer of the song. I planned to do a particular musical style but it's a lot easier to play whatever you have in your mind

really nice feedback
>>
>>129244155
babby finally grew calluses
>>
>>129250373
Very good anon, practice that for a bit until you can make it all the way up two octaves above the root. Then work on increasing speed with smooth transitions to each position.
>>
>>129250390
I’ve been playing bass for 3 years and the only callus I have is on my right index finger from popping
>>
>>129246567
Yuropoor here, is country really such a big deal in muttland that something like Nashville can sustain itself?
From what I see on youtube Nashville houses tens of thousands of guitarists who all own expensive as shit gear and somehow manage to make do with bar gigs.
Are housing prices so low there that so many artfags can congregate in one place without saturating the market to such an extent that the whole thing crashes? On top of that it seems Nashville is purely blues and country shittery, maybe some pop. So it's even more niche.

We have nothing like this in Europe, all our hubs are simply in the big cities and those are big for other reasons, no huge music city that fully sustains itself on musicians moving there.
>>
>>129250468
country has been just pop for decades and yes
>>
>>129250468
People have been moving to Nashville from other parts of the country for more than a decade, to get away from states that have gone bad like California. Eventually Nashville will suffer from overpopulation and the wrong kind of population too, but for now it's a really cool city. Nashville has the kind of fun vibe that Austin had a long time ago before becoming too liberal and too hipster.

But how the fuck does a city that is purely comprised of professional musicians thrive? All Nashville fags you see online are either doing studio work recording some solo "artist" song that won't even get 1000 listens on spotify or they do 20 gigs per day in bars yet they all have walls full of Fenders and Novos and boutique amps. Does rent not exist over there or what? It seems even bigger content creators from other parts of the country cannot live such lavish lifestyles despite doing the same job.

I mean someone like that black dude who robotically tells guitar reviews and amps or Rhett Shull are obviously trust fund, but it's hard to fake actual gigs like for example this dude: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLfsreSW_uY
yet he has five figure worth of gear just chilling behind him and so do all those guys he gigs with while living in huge houses in Nashville, I'm always wondering how the fuck these people sustain their lifestyles, I doubt all those tens of thousands of Nashville musicians are trust fund babies.

Played my strat today. Made me feel like a piece of shit the whole time. What a piece of shit guitar I don't even know why I still own it. Tone as limp as my dick when I'm coked out and already fapped twice earlier. Neck feels ok. Nice ergonomics but single coils are gay and replacing the bridge with a humbucker is even gayer because humbuckers in strats are gay. May sell it. Or play it in five months and once again feel like a piece of shit.
>>
>>129250671
instead of being a snark i'll just tell you. moving to nashville as a studio musician is like moving to san francisco as a software engineer. there are people there trying to make things, which creates a demand for people that will help them do that. nashville is full of people ready to spend money to record their music, and this guy uses them for his paycheck
this kind of thing only works in a city with lots of people trying to record music

It's funny, the hustle of getting your art out there was half the fun in making shit back in the day. I'd go to shows, bars, and art galleries to sell my shit/hand out flyers.
Now it's very formulaic and soul-crushing because social media is the only option if you want to pack gigs/sell your stuff. You can't be unique when it comes to social media, you have to imitate everyone else with just a sprinkle of your own unique flavoring, which just feels like raping your own art.
