post a fucking song
1994's chart is still in progress, reply to this post with your nominations!
>>129650323idgi why is kyuss allowed
>>129650333Stoner metal/rock
>>129650322https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM--HL0-sRM
>>129650332don't actually put Pantera in the chart lol
Current vote totals, for anyone who's interested:
>>129650388Put Glam Pantera only (exclude Power Metal)
>>129650346so not traditional heavy metal?
>>129650659the charts have never been exclusively plain heavy metal, and stoner metal/rock as genres are pretty much just MoR-era Sabbath worship.
>>129650323
>>129650659Stoner metal is absolutely trad. Metal is already rooted in psychedelia, don't see what's non-trad about leaning extra into that influence.
>>129650710>Industrial metal, thrash metalnah, vetoing
>>129650686>>129650718do you count danzig?
>>129650734early danzig, no idea what his later output is like
>>129650747i suppose that's consistent then.
>>129650659So quite the definition of heavy metal
BLASTING !!!
>>129651599
>>129651599The first 3 HammerFall albums. Absolute classics. Muscular heavy metal riffs.
>>129650747The one guy where Rick Rubin was his best producer. First 3 albums, I think.Danzig tried his hand and doing it himself and doesn't record himself well. It's not that he got old. I've heard him on later albums guesting and they record him well too. He sounds like his early days again. It's just when he produces himself that his albums aren't that great. Not for "Danzig" the band. He produced all of the old Misfits shit and was great then too...but it's a different thing.
>>129652469Danzig self-produced November Coming Fire and that's his best sounding album IMO. not in absolute terms but in how well the sound fits the music. the solo albums under Rubin are beefier but they don't leave enough to the imagination.
>>129653479the version of genocide on that release is one of JP's best songs
>>129653485it's their best studio album full stop... lol
>>129653514>studio album
at times this doesn't sound too dissimilar from pictures of home by deep purplehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DCAhnTyrwc>>129653514its only competition is stained class but can you really call unleashed a studio album? iirc the only part that was recorded in the studio was halford's vocals, everything else is live
>>129653534The live recording was overdubbed to death in the studio.
>>129653534>>129653550yep! nearly everything is overdubbed. I don't really mind it but in the 70s this kind of deal happened all the time, as long as the band had the budget to get it done. check out Tangerine Dream's "live" albums for example
>>129653584>>129653585i've always wondered why the fuck it sounded so different (fuller? can't really describe it) compared to tokyo tapes and other live releases from that time.
>>129652469>>129653205How the Gods Kill and 4P were co-produced by Danzig, which, by this time, meant Rubin just sat watching, waiting for his money.
>>129653622yeah, the guitar overdubs have panning effects to make them sound pulled from a live recording but you can tell the effects are confected.
>>129653622Priest...Live! made a big deal about being really live, because of the discussion around Unleashed in the East.I have many bootlegs and it's obvious UITE had a facelift.
>>129653678hey, they just dropped a new album a couple days ago
>>129653776wow, i just pulled it out of my fucking library at random lolalbum rocks btw, vocalist is sort of like the guy from nazareth (take that what you will) but the riffing's greathttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNQpfECu2yshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKTXjNh4TMIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQkIZH2JxtE
>>129653801I remember liking it but it's been years since I last listened. I can definitely recall the riffs being good. anyway, I'm downloading the new one, so I'm gonna dig out Blood & Thunder as well, but I'll listen to them later on. I'm blasting Priest all day today.
>>129653846i might snag the new one too, i'm really liking this one. >I'm blasting Priest all day today.probably'll end up ripping through SfV at some point tonight, this early '80s style of metal that's still very rocking is like fucking cocaine for the ears lol
>>129653888checked. The Hellion just came on while I was reading your post so... >>129651599
>>129653937i'd listen to it in full more often if pain and pleasure wasn't in the tracklist. ain't a bad song, but halford's dopey vocals + that retarded chorus knock it down hard.
>>129653970I hardly listen to Defenders of the Faith in full for this reason. side A is 10/10 and then you get this waterfall of annoying arena rockers and power ballads.
>>129654010i never listen to defenders in full because the only song i like on the b side is some heads are gonna roll. >side A is 10/10 and then you get this waterfall of annoying arena rockers and power ballads.every single one of priest's 80s albums fall into that pitfall in one way or another. british steel has living after midnight, point of entry has you say yes (or whatever it was called, song's shit), sfv has pain and pleasure, defenders has the b side sans some heads, turbo has parental guidance, and ram it down only has like three good songs.
metal /mu/tants, i need your help with a very specific riff that's on the tip of my tongue and i have no musical knowledge to help me describe it better. this is a song from a video game but i could've sworn there's a mainstream song from a thrash/power metal band that uses a very similar sounding riff. it's just a bit more aggressive sounding.>0:20https://youtu.be/RZOrh0ciQyc?si=wUI5gO3Xer5dBPDgdoes anybody in this thread have any ideas?
>>129654337this sounds like electric eye by JP but thrashy
>>129654413no, it's definitely not that one. i don't want to say the riff i'm thinking of is "lower pitch" because that's definitely not the right terminology. it follows a very similar speed and by "aggressive" i mean it hits lower sounding notes and leans into a thrashy pace. if there are any more like this you have to recommend then throw them in here.
>>129654469i'm only familiar with their first albums but have you tried iced earth and flotsam and jetsam? they're both power/thrash bands (well, flotsam moreso thrash than power) and were pretty fuckin' popular.
>>129654454Only the British track order for British Steel is real.
>>129651599always listen to sfv + blackout, those two albums go with each other perfectly
>>129654756Stained Class goes really well with Manilla Road's Metal imo
>>129654941i can see it, both have a raw production and somewhat bleak atmospherehere's a few others that go well back-to-back:black sabbath s/t & sir lord baltimore s/tsatan - court in the act & heavy load - stronger than evil scorpions - in trance & rainbow's s/tjudas priest - sad wings of destiny & scorpions - taken by forcemetal church s/t & ride the lightning
>>129651599my favorite priest record in terms of production
>>129655099speaking of Satan I really like following Life Sentence with KD's Them or Conspiracy>metal church s/t & ride the lightningthis one really captures that zeitgeist. iconic
>>129655196>speaking of Satan I really like following Life Sentence with KD's Them or Conspiracythe two classic KD albums i have yet to listen to>this one really captures that zeitgeist. iconicyeah, they share a LOT of similarities in just about every way. sound, lyrics, sort of frosty production - the only key difference that comes to mind is hetfield being quite a bit more rougher in approach than wayne
One of the best NWOBHM albums right here.
>>129655263You haven’t heard Conspiracy yet?? My man, you must rectify that!
>>129655278nope. i've had them in my library for as long as i have melissa (one of my most listened to albums) lol>My man, you must rectify that!next song on sin after sin is raw deal and while i like that song, i don't really want to listen to it right now. ditto for here come the tears, so fuck it i'll put conspiracy on

>>129655099>>129655196oh yeah, try listening to Manilla Road - Spiral Castle and Candlemass - EDM together. Spiral Castle is something like an album-length nod from Shelton to his old friend.>>129655325>>129655340nice, about time. I remember another anon was trying to get you to listen to this last year lol
>>129655404>oh yeah, try listening to Manilla Road - Spiral Castle and Candlemass - EDM together. Spiral Castle is something like an album-length nod from Shelton to his old friend.next time i listen to EDM i'll do that, but i want to listen to spiral castle on its own first.>nice, about time. I remember another anon was trying to get you to listen to this last year lolyeah for the 1989 chart i believe, i'm kicking myself for not listening to it sooner this shit fucking rules
>>129655447>next time i listen to EDM i'll do that, but i want to listen to spiral castle on its own first.it's a difficult album imo. it's rewarding but very obtuse and hugely different from their other stuff, it was an uphill battle for me to get into it. anyway, the pairing is interesting because Shelton was partly responsible for getting EDM released and it's also the album he homaged on Spiral Castle.>yeah for the 1989 chart i believe, i'm kicking myself for not listening to it sooner this shit fucking rulesunfortunately it's downhill for KD after this. they were never the same after Mikkey Dee left to join Motorhead. but since you're liking Conspiracy, the rejected original ending was recorded for The Spider's Lullabye, so check it out as well!
>>129655546>it's a difficult album imo. it's rewarding but very obtuse and hugely different from their other stuff, it was an uphill battle for me to get into it. this is how i felt about out of the abyss but to a lesser extent. that album is pretty fuckin' hard to get into. y'know that combination of the very raw, almost non-existent production and the similarly coarse guitar kept me from appreciating it as much as say, mystification for a while.>anyway, the pairing is interesting because Shelton was partly responsible for getting EDM released and it's also the album he homaged on Spiral Castle.what's the backstory? i had no idea shelton palled around with dudes from candlemass.>unfortunately it's downhill for KD after this.i concur, as having listened to the eye for the 1990 chart that album isn't as good as this one is. although i do love the use of synths on that one.
>>129655593>what's the backstory? i had no idea shelton palled around with dudes from candlemass.Shelton and Edling were penpals back when Edling was still in Nemesis. Leif sent the Tales of Creation demo to the Shark, who lobbied Agnes Desgranges at Black Dragon Records to sign Candlemass and that's how EDM came to be.>i concur, as having listened to the eye for the 1990 chart that album isn't as good as this one is. although i do love the use of synths on that one.yeah, that's the beginning of the dreaded drum machine era. (Snowy Show is credited on the album but Livia Zita confirmed on the now deleted King Diamond Coven forum that it was a drum machine on The Eye)
>>129655593>out of the abyssoh yeah, I actually found this album way easier to get into than Mystification, which I first discovered through the bricked as fuck Sentinel Steel """remaster""". songs like Rites of Blood, Return of the Old Ones or Helicon are really atmospheric & take good advantage of their dynamic range. I think Invasion, The Courts of Chaos and Spiral Castle were their most difficult albums for me
>>129655631>>129655701that tracks, and the more that i think about it i do hear some manilla in candlemass' sound. mainly the riffs.>yeah, that's the beginning of the dreaded drum machine era.that wasn't just a one-off? i get that mikkey dee was off in motorhead but surely KD could've found a replacement drummer of (or roughly) his caliber.>which I first discovered through the bricked as fuck Sentinel Steel """remaster""".god these kinds of remasters piss me off. i've been trying to find an original vinyl rip of strong arm of the law for months now, because every single one i fucking download is that same goddamned copy that's bricked to hell and back and sounds like it got ran straight through a 1930s microphone.>I think Invasion, The Courts of Chaos and Spiral Castle were their most difficult albums for methere's not many albums i actually dislike, but invasion's one of them. maybe sometime i'll give it another go since it's been a few years, but i don't have high hopes for it.
>>129655772>that wasn't just a one-off? i get that mikkey dee was off in motorhead but surely KD could've found a replacement drummer of (or roughly) his caliber.the problem was that King got used to the drum machine tracks he was laying out for his home demos and he started insisting to his drummers that those tracks should be followed exactly. if you listen to the same drummers performing on live recordings it's like a day and night difference.>god these kinds of remasters piss me off.no clue about Saxon but Mystification was fortunate to get a proper remaster supervised by the Shark later on and it's the best sounding version of the album.>there's not many albums i actually dislike, but invasion's one of themyeah, me too. for me the Manilla story really begins with Dreams of Eschaton/Mark of the Beast, and that album as well as Metal I find underrated (including by the creators lol).
>>129655855>the problem was that King got used to the drum machine tracks he was laying out for his home demos and he started insisting to his drummers that those tracks should be followed exactly. if you listen to the same drummers performing on live recordings it's like a day and night difference.that makes more sense, but it's still pretty baffling lol>Mystification was fortunate to get a proper remaster supervised by the Shark later on and it's the best sounding version of the album.think that's the one i have, yeah. i don't recall any bricking on my copy at least.>yeah, me too. for me the Manilla story really begins with Dreams of Eschaton/Mark of the Beast, and that album as well as Metal I find underrated (including by the creators lol).can't speak on mark of the beast (only '80s manilla album i haven't checked out at least once) but i like metal. it's a good blend between hard 'n' heavy, and i remember really liking cage of mirrors and considering it a sort of prototype for USPM; if not one of the first songs in that style.
>>129655928>that makes more sense, but it's still pretty baffling lolyeah, well if you listen to an album like Voodoo or House of God it's the only explanation that'll make sense lol. the drummers are clearly holding back so much it's painful to listen.>think that's the one i have, yeah. i don't recall any bricking on my copy at least. if yours is on CD and it has the original cover with the grandfather clock then it's likely this second (authorized) remaster.>mark of the beastcheck it out!>i remember really liking cage of mirrors and considering it a sort of prototype for USPM; if not one of the first songs in that style.to put things in context, Manowar's Battle Hymns came out in June 1982, Metal came out in August 1982. they're contemporaries in the first wave of epic heavy metal. IMO the definitive proto-USPM record is Riot's Fire Down Under from 1981.
>>129655928btw this song from Mark of the Beast is fucking massive:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lgz6rhvPO8
>>129656000>yeah, well if you listen to an album like Voodoo or House of God it's the only explanation that'll make sense lol. the drummers are clearly holding back so much it's painful to listen.does the songwriting and guitarwork at least save those releases? because i do intend to listen to every KD album... eventually.>if yours is on CD and it has the original cover with the grandfather clock then it's likely this second (authorized) remaster.a rip of a CD, I just checked the attached album art and yeah it has the clock and the golden font for "MYSTIFICATION".>check it out!maybe tomorrow, i have it in my library but it's gettin' pretty late now. can listen to that song you posted though.>IMO the definitive proto-USPM record is Riot's Fire Down Under from 1981.yeah i can agree to that. especially for altar of the king (imo make the riffing slightly more aggressive and it's bona fide USPM) and the lyrics + guitar solo in don't hold back.
>>129656035i wouldn't even say massive, shit was just magical. i'm a big fan of how they use that psychedelic early sabbath sound to REALLY get you lost in the song, the only other band i can think of that did it was cirith ungol but they were more doom-y.
>>129656066>does the songwriting and guitarwork at least save those releases?Voodoo is one of his best late-period albums. actually I'd say Abigail 2 is the only bad one in his discography (including Fate), everything else is at least worth trying out.>a rip of a CD, I just checked the attached album art and yeah it has the clock and the golden font for "MYSTIFICATION".does it have the song The Asylum? that one's a bonus on the bricked remaster. (I've seen mp3 sets reordering the song order and trying to pass as "1987 vinyl rips" lmao)>maybe tomorrow, i have it in my library but it's gettin' pretty late now. can listen to that song you posted though.sure thing, it's not like I'm holding a gun to your head lol. I think you'll like the album though. incidentally I find it really nice to listen while falling asleep.
>>129656136this song is kind of an outlier on the album, but it's an album with many outliers... it really deserves a proper deep listen, you won't be disappointed. anyway, I'm off as well, see ya around.
>>129656151>Voodoo is one of his best late-period albums. actually I'd say Abigail 2 is the only bad one in his discography (including Fate), everything else is at least worth trying out.i've heard bad things about abigail 2 so i'll steer clear of that one, but i have heard some decent stuff about a few of his more recent releases.>does it have the song The Asylum? that one's a bonus on the bricked remaster. i honestly do not know as i almost never download bonus tracks lol>sure thing, it's not like I'm holding a gun to your head lol. I think you'll like the album though.probably, i'm a big sucker for this whimsical, fantastical style of rock>incidentally I find it really nice to listen while falling asleep.when i fall asleep i usually listen to easy listening type stuff, but sometimes i'll put on come my fanatics if i really just want to sleep right then and there.>anyway, I'm off as well, see ya around.yeah, you too.
>>129653678You know what's worse? Being a band from Liverpool, naming your band after a French city and for some reason put the French flag on the album cover.

>>129657478>These riffs sound very similar. Also the second song came first.I just think Olbrich likes that rhythm. It's basically the same as on the beginning of The Curse of Feanor too.
>>129656239>i honestly do not know as i almost never download bonus tracks lolThe Asylum is one case where an outtake should've been on the album from the start imo, definitely worth a listen.>sometimes i'll put on come my fanatics if i really just want to sleep right then and there.lol

>>129658322favorite stuff was that tense, thrashy part about 3 quarters through and the doom-y bassline. good song, but i don't think i'd have included it on the album without a vocal track. it needs just that extra bit more pizazz that an instrumental like narita has.
>>129659459speaking of bonus tracks, The Books of Skelos was recorded for Out of the Abyss but the label left it off the album for some reason.
>>129659531it could've replaced one of the more straight-ahead, less ambitious tracks on side B or been placed back-to-back with whitechapel.
>>129659559on the 2018 restored edition it's placed as the closer, but yeah I agree, I could live without Slaughterhouse even though it did grow on me a good bit.
>>129659585right after helicon's a good spot for it, they both complement each other pretty well.>I could live without Slaughterhouse even though it did grow on me a good bit.i remember that one being pretty good thrash, if a bit standard. that's my main (and only) complaint with the album though, the b side sans helicon is GOOD, but it's nothing that hasn't been done better by other bands.
>>129659619>the b side sans helicon is GOODHelicon is the most known track out of Out of the Abyss.
>>129659633as it should be, it's a great closer. but for me it and war in heaven are the only highlights in the second half.
>>129659619War in Heaven is another killer on side B. but on the whole I agree, to me that side of the album is MR getting high on their newfound thrash rush and creating this loose suite as an excuse to go nuts and just revel in the sound. I like the effect it has in making the more epic tracks more contrasting but you're right that the shorter cuts don't stand out individually.
>>129659650Ahhh, now I understood what you meant.
btw, one riff from Out of the Abyss (the song) was ripped off by none other than Sarcofago on their The Laws of Scourge album. that felt... quite unlikely to discover lol

is it the riff at 0:23?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQva3zK4K2U
The Boys are back in Town is not only the most overrated Thin Lizzy song, but also their worst. Only normies of the era, Jackie Aprile Jr. tier intellect and conformity would like the song, because it would allow them to think they can hang with the girls who listened to Zeppelin or whatever.
>>129659727>i can't really blame them for doing it that way, either. thrash manilla, even if the songs ain't the best - there's nothing else really like it. i sometimes liken it to early bathory, that's a good comparison. both of these bands absorbed and mutated different styles in a highly rapid manner. you could say there's a downside in that this prevented them from releasing more than one album in a style you might particularly like, but there's nothing that beats this kind of organic transformation. it's a sign of real, vital passion for music. I kinda wish we got to see more of MR's doom side though.>i'm not that surprised. shelton's vocals have a blackened streak and the production fits the bill to an extent too.it surprised me because of how obscure MR were in the 90s.>>129659752yep, that's the one.
>>129659829>that's a good comparison. both of these bands absorbed and mutated different styles in a highly rapid manner. you could say there's a downside in that this prevented them from releasing more than one album in a style you might particularly like, but there's nothing that beats this kind of organic transformation. it's a sign of real, vital passion for music.it's why manilla's such a fun band to listen to. in the span of a decade they went from psychedelic rock & early metal, to pioneering epic metal AND USPM, and then went full in on thrash at the end of the decade. >I kinda wish we got to see more of MR's doom side though.ditto. doom is my favorite metal genre and i really like when it pops up into their sound. i don't recall any flat out doom songs from their classic albums, though. closest off memory is the riddle master but there was one on the courts of chaos that definitely sounded pretty doomy while i was listening to it. >it surprised me because of how obscure MR were in the 90s.ah, i hadn't considered that lol.

>>129660264>you will definitely enjoy exploring these albums, they're both in the upper tier IMO.i'm on the title track to spiral castle right now. first impressions are great, and that mark's vocals have definitely aged - but not for the worse. he sounds less like skeletor and more like a wraith here, and to my ears it almost sounds like he's doing a pseudo death growl at points. guitars are also detuned a bit too, sounds dope.>Gates of Fire is another good one, but there's a lot to chew on there. https://youtu.be/u8wjImfFGms?t=17https://youtu.be/RSSmwXy98IY?t=4Verse riff of Manowar's Kings of Metal sounds almost exactly like Judas Priest's Green Manalishi (which is a cover).>>129660510Not heavy enough, plain and pentatonic riffs, insipid lyrics about sex drugs partying. Metal in my mind is supposed to have a certain gravitas, it's either mythic, epic, heavier or darker than just rock. For the same reason you don't like HammerFall or Symphony X I love those bands.
>>129660523>that specific song is decidedly heavier than loving you sunday morningWhat does that have to do with anything? You're calling out your own strawman?
another thing. back in 2004 Manilla Road's then cover artist Jowita Kaminska took the Shark aside for a really in-depth, long form interview that was published on her website. I've been listening to Priest's late 70s albums and it occurred to me that this band had already solved heavy metal by 1979. By the time of Killing Machine they had already perfected the typical "heavy metal" riff, and most of speed metal too.
>>129660345>>129660554

>>129662953the title track leaves a great impression with the double kicks and the multiple fake-out endings, but really everything on the album rules and will only grow on you given the chance. my favorites are probably Damage Case and Metropolis. it has this great feeling of constant build-up, especially the B side.
>>129663019>but really everything on the album rules and will only grow on you given the chance.they already are. i'm on capricorn and i like this a hell of a lot more than i did before, but still not more than bomber. i think my problem initially was that the first time i checked out overkill in full i went into it expecting the music to have the pedal to the metal throughout the entire thing, so was left disappointed when most of it is mid-paced heavy rock. but there's some snazzy riffing here.
>>129651599>>129663045Bomber has this bluesy vibe that goes so far to the opposite of your expectations that I'm actually surprised to hear this. my all time favorite from them is Everything Louder than Everyone Else - maybe the best album ever recorded.

>>129678268i originally said wednesday but yeah i'm thinking it's time. i'll go finalize it.
>>129678520It was cool to see them live before Ragne died.
>>129679843man, I wish I caught them live. do you remember the setlist?
the 1994 chart is done! 1995 starts next thread.
>>129679943No. But fortunately I don't need to remember ithttps://www.setlist.fm/setlist/heavy-load/2024/norje-havsbad-norje-sweden-1ba919d8.html
>>129673266Live and Dangerous version of Massacre is better than the studio.>>129673242I was listening to it the other day. Boogie Woogie Dance is the hardest
>>129680166sounds like a killer set. what's this though?>Hedningar Från Norra Swedish version of Heathens from the North? I had no idea about this.>>129680206>Live and Dangerous version of Massacre is better than the studio.nta but I agree.>I was listening to it the other day. Boogie Woogie Dance is the hardestit's Don't Believe a Word for me. unreal riffing from Robbo
>>129680273Yes. It was a bonus track for the remastered version of Metal Conquest that was released in 2024.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rDDLBHwonQRagne was also writing a book series called "Wahlgaard saga" that was suppose to be 4 parts, but he only finished the 1st.

>>129680280supremacy was much better, the only songs i really liked here were tracks #1, #3, and the closer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3LJnOIpGxkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKjY66-C7XIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEuMnykeK88>>129680729where the fuck is def leppard
>>129680729Venom shouldn't be in T1.
>>129681062lol this is one of the albums i'm going to be checking out soon
>>129681062>>129681074One of my favourite Motörhead albums.
>>129681062>>129681074The live album Everything Louder than Everyone Else has some of the best versions of Motorhead songs IMO, including sacrifice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYsfDZsLRiU
alsohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS-35OYuhts
>>129681062I like the cocktongue and cuntthroat
>>129681074it's an interesting anomaly for its groove metal elements. that aside, the title track is one of the most bone crushing things they've recorded. insanely heavy.>>129681146that's my favorite Motorhead release overall. I shilled it to OP a while back but he put it off cause of its length.
>>129680750Joe Elliot have been adamant that they were never a NWOBHM band (which is of course complete bullshit).>>129680985100% agree.
>>129681374>Joe Elliot have been adamant that they were never a NWOBHM band (which is of course complete bullshit).true, but i don't think this tierlist was made by joe himself, so there's no reason for leppard to NOT be here
>>1296515992 albums in and so far i do not want to nominate any of them hopefully third time's the charm
HOLY SHIT.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ivHbxOqlwo
>>129681519>CHART CREATED BY LEWIS BASS
>>129681636BOOM. one of their most destructive songs ever.
>>129681639one of joe elliot's many pseudonyms
>>129680985Excuse you?Venom fucking rules.
>>129651599Dave was particularly pissed off during this one, really adds to his vocal delivery
>>129681801>let's be Motörhead but sing out of tune, play sloppy and have shit production
>>129682259this was some really fucking good doom, check it out https://files.catbox.moe/0gffs6.zip
>>129682862I always hated the Kerrang writers. That review would be 1991, by which time they were sucking off Grunge.
What the fuck were they thinking?>lets have the worst album covers in the history of metal, that will probably make the kids buy our records
>>129683551I get mistaken for Tior all the time
>>129682259>>129683004Just downloaded it. Sounds promising.>>129683741What does this mean?
>>129682862Listen man, you don't have to like them, taste is subjective, but you don't get Venom, you don't get heavy metal.
>>129683808Incorrect.
>>129683808>if you don't like a shittier version of Motörhead with satanic lyrics, you don't get heavy metalNah, bud.
>>129681159Bill not being there is so weird in hindsight
>>129683551That cuts off right before the worst of them all
>>129680985Like them or not, I'd wager they're the most influential band in that image
>>129683969Even if that were true that picture isn't about influence.
>>129683551
>>129681159Ozzy has to have the greatest hair genetics of all time.>>129683936Yes, but from what I heard he didn't work out in the studio while trying to record 13.>>129683969Not a chance. Iron Maiden is that by far. Venom probably is the most important band to the first wave of black metal but everything after that has barely any resemblance to Venom at all.
>>129684053Black and thrash (and thus death) can be traced directly to Venom. Maiden is way more popular but they didn't create genres
>>129684053>Yes, but from what I heard he didn't work out in the studio while trying to record 13.He wasn't invited to even try to record for 13
>>129684053>first wave of black metalNot a thing>>129684075>BlackNo
>>129684088I think it was during the pre-production, like the songwriting where he was kicked out.
>>129650307>music made with the use of artificial intelligenceDoes it hurt to be poor?
>>129684177Are you Indian?
>>129684159I've seen no evidence of this. Ward was present for the reunion announcement, but did not advance past the contractual dispute.
>>129684189Claro que no )
>>129684209Ozzy said that during early rehearsals, Ward struggled to remember the songs and appeared to have post-it notes all over his kit to keep track of the music.
>>129683822>>129683856Imagine not digging Venom. I feel sorry for your mothers.>>129684053>everything after that has barely any resemblance to Venom at allAre you serious right now? The imagery, the exaggeration of blasphemy, the speed, the immediacy...Venom is not only the quintessential NWOBHM band, but the blueprint for extreme metal.
>>129684291Imagine being so wrong
>>129684248Ozzy had to use autocue for Paranoid since the '90s.He's reading everything during the In The Studio footage that came with the boxset.
