I unironically learned the Never Gonna Give You Up guitar solo just for shits and giggles.
>>129709509I learned the La Bamba solo but I stopped practicing it because I hated having to hit the same note 42 times in a row and now I forget how it goes
Should my next purchase be a new amp our a new acoustic...?(I need neither)
How long would it take me to become a good singer if I took vocal lessons?I’m quite musically inclined and while I in theory have a good vocal range I can only sing a fraction of that well but I tend to improve fast at least with instruments, not sure about my voice. I also smoke so that’s probably one reason why my range isn’t too good right now but I intend to quit

I want to play piano so bad, guitar isn't boring me or anything but I can't make certain sounds I want with it.How well do synths emulate keyboards/pianos?
>>129709685they are different sounds. i'll admit the one thing the strat lacks is this sound. but the strat neck pickup is superior in every way and thats the most important sound on your guitar
>>129709878Nose drugs do more damage to your vocal chords than smoking. Just stay hydrated and you're fine if you smoke. The history of recorded music is overwhelmed by singers who smoked constantly, to no ill effect. Well, cancer and shit, but it didn't hurt their vocals because they stayed hydrated.

>>129709944>Piano is easier than guitar once you're already familiar with the basics of music like chords and voicings and progressions. Buy a keyboard.Yeah I am, that's partially why I want to play piano now.Learning theory on guitar is actually preferably IMO since it's objectively more difficult than learning on a piano. I've been playing for about a year now and once I learned the fretboard and some theory it really opens it up

I was bored of guitar until i started playing classical, didnt touch my electric in 3 years now.
>>129709898piano makes one sound. if you're looking for tonal variety switching from guitar to piano will not save you. electric guitar is the king of tonal variety
>>129709958i think the white keys and black keys set you up for failure learning music theory. guitar definitely has its own challenges with differently tunes strings, but at least all notes are treated the same and C Major isn't some magical "special" key
>>129710016I'm looking for the warm sound of a piano bro and they're played differently from a guitar too
>>129710063the benefit of piano is sheet music is written for piano and the white and black keys make it easier to sight read sheet music in a way no other instrument can
>>129710068that isnt true at all
>>129710074give me a counterpoint. sheet music is just like the piano, it assumes you are playing in C-Major unless otherwise specified with the key signature or accidentals. naturals are treated as different notes than sharps and flats on sheet music and the piano. no other instrument does this and its clear sheet music is for pianocels
>>129710066Try classical guitar if u want, its very warm and deep
>>129710066you can get the same level of warmth with a guitar. piano has a different attack that you can't reproduce on a guitar but that's about it.

>>129710897Playing alone a lot can be a good thing. Puts you in the habit of filling the silent spaces, incorporating more lead like lines in your rhythms and /or voicing out what could be vocal melodies in your rhythms. Or more percussive techniques especially if you're an acoustic player.
>>129710966even with a teacher you are practicing alone the rest of the week. regularly practicing with another human being is a requirement if your goal is to play with other human beings

>>129710986You can eventually jam with people. Just saying it creates different habits...which aren't necessarily bad. >>129711024https://vocaroo.com/1CpeuGSGgmRfSo yesterday when I was practicing, I started hearing buzzing when I was playing my open A and open D strings. They explained that the action was a bit high and there could be some room in the truss rod for adjustment. But the guy played it fine. Once I played them the voca they kinda understood that it was my picking strength and I was a beginner who didn't understand everything. After that one of the guys showed me both the guitars and explained why people aim for tele or strats as first guitars for their clean tone. The JM circuit is more complicated than I imagined and even though i like the shape, the tone of the tele's is much clearer even with my pedals. >>129711034The guy who would have done that in their shop wasn't in today. jazzmasters/jaguars are awful guitars no matter what level you are. they are failure designs with useless shit, retarded wiring, retarded bridges. they are fashion statements. there's a reason no high level guitar player prefers them
>>129712031the reality is that you just won't play the other guitars. you'll have one guitar you prefer, with settings on your rig you like. every time you switch to another guitar you'll have to re-adjust those settings, and they still won't sound as good to you, and your reaction will be "why did I spend all this time fiddling I should have just played the other guitar". sometimes you need to spend time with a few guitars to figure out which one is the one you like, though

The real guitar to get is a semi-hollow with 2 PAF style humbuckers (ES335 or clone of it) ACTUALLY versatile, can do country to metal, best upper fret access for lead, obviously can do Jazz, because of the hollow wings can be played unplugged for writing/practicing. >>129713769yes if you want to make an acoustic quiet though you should tape a heavy piece of rubber or some damper to the soundboard. the strings aren’t what’s making the most noise
>>129713027You don't need nails for any type of electric guitar playing.
>>129713769Yes, i use this hair thingy, you could roll up a sock, it should be soft enough to still make a Sound, you might need some tinkering with the amount of folds.
looking at this lead on songster. im guessing the tab is AI? its got the right lead notes but how would you play this chord or the one that comes after it?
I'm much happier with this tele. Was able to learn the lead for a song I was struggling with. I think I'll have my chiropractor look at my hands and wrist tomorrow. My fingers automatically pull themselves in when I try to stretch for a bar. Also very painful to do.
>>129713967>strat neck pickup with tele bridgeholy based
>>129713799>>129713860And how will it sound in my headphones?
>>129713990Like it sounds acoustic, just muted and without sustain. You're going to hear the notes, but it will not sound "normal." It's a trade-off for silent playing.
>>129713986Thank you. I'm really enjoying it. Pumped to get back into my lessons next week
>>129713932E thumb A ringD middle G openB index
>>129714017what do the pole pieces look like are they staggered
>>129714013But I thought there was a way to play silent and listen perfectlt on my headphones. If I had known I would have just bought a regular acoustic. Can I do that with an electric?
>>129714040G&L pickups
>>129713932I might be retarded, but i think you could play an A major 4th fret instead of this
>>129709620TU-3 is crap compared to TU-2
>>129713990foam dramatically changes tone and sustain, given that your pickup is likely an undersaddle piezo like 90% of them, going with the soundboard dampening won’t change the tone at all and likely just make it a bit quieter through the headphones
>>129714041
>>129711159not on bass, bro.and that's what he was going for
>>129714041Everything you play will have an acoustic sound to an extent. An electric with headphones will be quieter, but not totally silent. It will still be audible, especially at night, if the walls are thin.
>>129713967that's not a tele, it's a Gay Loser ASAT (anal sex all the time) Classic . I can spot those "pickups" from a mile away.
>>129714040>>129714048Yeah they're a little staggered. The guy at the store mentioned that he thought G&L makes good shit. I have to agree.
>>129714041No, you can't do that with any guitar. It makes physical noise when you pluck the string. You would need one of those weird shitty MIDI guitars. Even electric guitars can be fairly loud unplugged.
>>129712179that's why I have my amps on ONE setting for my favorite and plenty of EQ on my multifx adjusted to perfection for every other instrument.Just git gud I guess? My favorite only has like 5% more playtime than the rest of my collection
Out of five guitars, I played one exclusively for three years didnt touch the other ones. I just get them off the stand to dust them off.But im never gonna sell them, just having stuff is where its at
>>129714057also foam will really kill the sound of the pickup because you’re killing the string energy. energy goes: strings > saddle > soundboard, so just dampening the soundboard is the best way to go. it’s not as easy but it’s the best solution
>>129713932You never listen to Helvetia? Duster’s drummer from their foundation until a few years ago Jason Albertini‘s side project. Very Duster esque (obviously) and very good stuff https://youtu.be/BSE2G3eqkrk
>>129712194famous doesn't equal high level, by your logic lil'wayne should be one of the modern guitar heroesAnon's statement is fully factual: no high level player plays those ghastly pieces of shit, they're purely accesories like a pride flag or a sonichu medallion
>>129714064>>129714075>>129714087And what do I do with my amp? I already opened so I cant sent it back
>>129714120i didnt know about this, i like it a lot thanks. ill check them out
>>129714148Okay, first of all, why don't you tell us what gear exactly you have? Maybe there's a better way to help. Also, depending on where you are from, you are allowed to open it before returning it.
>>129713967Stop buying shit and play
>>129714166Enjoy man, it’s great stuff.
>>129714148you’re ignorant because you’re retarded. think on that for a few weeks
>>129714177I have a yamaha apx600 and I bought a vox amplug 3
>>129714203i need to buy shit in order to play
>>129714262Ah i was under the impression u have some kind of travel guitar.Yeah, you are out of luck. Honestly, I would try to tinker with muting it, even like this other anon said, try to dampen the soundboard. If you aren't happy with the results, try to send the amp back. I'm pretty sure it will be possible, at least here in Germany it is.But no matter what u buy, u wont be able to play completly silent.
Soundbard is a silly name, you cant just plug a speaker into it
>>129712807The tele is a partscaster made from whatever I had lying around, so its body very well may be, as it cost like 150 bucks. I put it together with my own hands, did the wiring etc., so in that sense, yes it's not a Fender. The mustang is absolutely not. It's a MIM vintera I 60s mustang. Literally nobody ever counterfitted those lmfao.
>>129714447piezo sounds like the name of a clown

>>129717189The only thing Fender sells at that price are custom shops or limited models that have the attention of CS.If you mean $2000 range Gibsons, those aren't their standards. Fenders at that price are better anyhow.
>>129717203the ultra II strat is $2400 thats only a couple hundred less than a les paul standard
>>129717217It's also better. Some of the cheaper LP Standards have purposely gimped finishes. Like the "Vintage Honey Burst" which just looks like raw wood grain really. And none of the other modern appointments those Ultras have (pickup switching, compound radius, etc). Also rosewood instead of ebony fbs. You still need to get to about $2800 to get a "Standard" Standard.I think the Fenders should be cheaper, but I don't think the Gibsons are better either way.

Thoughts on a 1980s made in Japan Squier Strat? Red body with no pickguard from the factory, two humbuckers, regular Strat tremolo, one switch one volume one tone, medium jumbo frets on a rosewood fret board, black headstock, $450 local. Aren’t Japan Squiers from the 80s supposed to be pretty good?
