Someone in the other thread brought up The Long Defeat by Deathspell Omega. I think it's okay. The composition is still there but the style is less interesting. I think the issue is where the fuck do you go from Synarchy. I think Synarchy was/is supposed to be the logical endpoint for their dissonant sound. You can't really push it much further without falling into the same pitfalls that DsO copycats fall into, eg dissonance and technicality for the sake of dissonance and technicality. At some point the sound losses it's emotional core, which DsO is so great at capturing, and becomes just noise. I'll be curious to see where they go next but I'm almost certain they'll never take a step back. If they keep their schedule we may know this year.
