My favourite pick is a 15 year old one that my mom bought for me when I was starting. Haven't lost it, haven't replaced it. It's more sentimental than functional at this point
And no I haven't played for 15 years. I quit and got back into it

Which one is more comfortable to play, particularly while standing? The specs are fairly similar so only the body shape is gonna be the deciding factor. Any input from people experienced with these two is appreciated since I don't think I'll be able to try them out in person.
>>
My DiMarzio HS2 noiseless single coil pickups that I bought 5 years ago but never installed until now are microphonic as hell. What would you do since it seems embarrassing to contact DiMarzio so many years after buying them. I think they're built in a specific way that getting them wax potted like a normal pickup might ruin them , anyone have experience with those?

They're the Yngwie set, bridge HS3 is fine just the middle and neck hs2s are messed up

I haven't played my guitar in many years, but recently wanted to get back into it. It was a very cheap one when I got it, and my storage hasn't been too kind to it, so I took it apart and cleaned everything.
Then I put on new strings and tuned it.
Now I noticed that the bridge is bent upwards substantially, see picrel. It's a tremolo bridge, so not attached at the bottom, only top.
I tightened the screws in the backside that attach to the springs that pull it down but that only helped very little.

So two questions to you anons who know more about this stuff than me:
- Is this an issue?
- If so, how do I fix it/Make it less bad?

Thanks anons, I'd want to get back into playing even if I suck ass.
>>
>>129821311
holy tremolo anon
>>
>>129820575
The coolest offset imo.
>>
>>129821311
You have to balance tremolo spring tension with string tension. The strings are pulling the floating trem too much towards the headstock making it tilt forward like that.
You need to unscrew your backplate and tense up the claw. Look up a strat trem setup tutorial on yt, its pretty easy.

Thanks for the answer anon.
I tightened the red screws in picrel, which did move the plate back a little.
I'll tune it again and see if that helps.
My guess is if it's not enough I'd have to desolder that yellow wire (probably a ground or something) and add 2 more springs in the dark green holes? (Then re-solder it)
Alternatively a more ghetto fix I came up with would be to 3d print a wedge that goes into the light green hole to prevent that metal block from pivoting.

Anyways first I'll look if tightening did enough, thanks again!

Is this state not a problem and I can just play and keep it like this, or is it not enough and I should order some springs?

>>
>>129821434
I already tried, but whatever the fuck that is (looks like wood pulp, but it's slightly sticky and hard to remove) rubbing alcohol doesn't help with it.
I suppose I'll get a cheap toothbrush at the store tomorrow (where I live sundays all stores have closed) and try it with that.
>>
I need to take MIDI live, I want to just load my VSTs in a pedal and go but that seems like a $1,000 problem. I might have $300 for that considering I will need a personal PA rather than a guitar amp. What I don't want is a PC on stage.

my only electric guitar is a 10yo ibanez RG which also has a tremolo bar in it, i'm still playing it obviously but the next time i buy a new electric guitar it won't be something with floyd rose on it. i'm too much of a pleb trying to figure out why stuff like that goes wrong and needs fixing.
which means i'll probably regret it if i buy a headless guitar like hex huh?
>>
>>129821545
Thanks anon, I watched it. It seems to optimize for tremolo usage, and I don't even have the bar anymore so I can't use it anyways, but it seems to suggest that the bending isn't that much of an issue and tightening it down totally was a bit too much. I'll try to fix the straight angle and maybe get some new springs eventually. Thanks!

A noise generator, some synths have a noise outpoint :

generation method: Analog synthesizers typically create noise through a reverse-biased transistor or zener diode, which creates a random, chaotic signal (avalanche effect) that is then amplified.

I loosened them, seems like it made it worse. Now the angle between the metal plate that the springs pull on isn't straight, thus increasing the total tilt.

Most filaments are fairly capable of sustained stress, so probably alright. But you wouldn't want to use standard filament (PLA) or the lifetime probably isn't that great. You could also probably improve the lifetime a little by printing such that the layers are perpendicular to the stress vector, but this doesn't seem to be the case in the pic posted. Probably not that much of a factor, but everything helps.

My guess is it should work, but if you use PLA, expect it to lose tune faster than a normal guitar and need replacement eventually. Also don't expose it to UV (PLA doesn't like that) or humid environment (PLA doesn't like that either).

He just seems like someone who doesn't really know much about 3D printing and didn't pay attention to the material properties. Not uncommon for beginners/people who don't design their own parts.
Also he didn't even design it himself, he just downloaded it. That's also why the fucking retarded slices as mentioned in >>129822767 happened, he didn't know any better and this was the easiest way to cram it into the print volume of his ender 3.

Didn’t feel like figuring out the games notation to learn the exact pattern but it’s basically the same idea
Make sure you can pick at that speed on one string and on adjacent strings before you try skipping over strings

Not sure where else to ask this. I'm a guitar newfag.
One good thing about tabs is that they're extremely clear on where to hold your fretting hand, while with sheet music I cannot know what position to play in. How does one learn that? Is it just experience? I want to lean more on using standard notation so I can learn how to cover songs from other instruments on the guitar.
>>
>>129825432
theres multiple "middle C" notes on the guitar just use whatever position is the most comfortable to play in
>>
>>129825432
>Is it just experience
Yes, guitar tablature assumes you have literally no knowledge or experience to draw upon whatseover, so it tells you exactly where to put your fingers for every note. With just a few weeks of learning scale positions and chord shapes (through CAGED or something like that), you can play stuff like this that has melody in standard notation with harmony written above it.
>>
where do i find somewhat likeminded ppl to play with? i haven't been playing for like 10 years, so now i know nobody. all the classified ads are seeking 50 year olds to join their tribute bands, but i kinda just want to jam around with people who are tangentially into similar music styles. tired of playing alone
>>
>>129825432
I don't bother with sheet music myself for the most part, but as I understand it you would start by noticing the key signature, then scanning over the sheet to see what the highest note and the lowest note are and then choose a scale position that accommodates that range to work out of.

How long are strings supposed to last? Mine are struggling to hold tune after about 5 or 6 weeks
>>
>>129825737
A lot longer than 5-6 weeks. I’ve got rusty ass strings on a few of my guitars that are well over a year old and they sound dull and lifeless but hold tune perfectly still.
>>
>>129825737
if you use a tremolo or bend a lot that’s probably about right. I’ve had strings go dead after a month on an acoustic because I was playing about 6 hours per day
>>
>>129825737
That's normal
>>
>>129825755
>>129825756
>>129825758
It's an electric, yeah I do bend quite a bit and my hands are sweaty but I don't play anywhere near that long. I was using Ernie Ball cobalt strings and I really liked the sound of these but if that's how it's gonna be fuck that, what's something that'll last longer
>>
https://youtu.be/g-LKJpcJ1FE?si=04pI85tZSB3wdoqb
>>
>>129825783
I think cobalt is a lot harder and brighter so you’ll probably notice a tone decrease sooner than normal strings. I was using Martin monels which are brighter than bronze. I didn’t notice much brightness decrease but the volume decrease after a month was substantial. maybe 20-30%. no matter how hard I strummed they just sounded muted so I’m assuming they were metal fatigued

I use normal Ernie Balls. I would say a month is a fair target. Though they lose that top end zing after one day.
Coated strings sound bright for a long time but I hate the way they feel. My acoustic came with Elixirs and it still sounds bright after a year. Yeah I don't change strings on it because acoustic is gay and I don't care

You can find a point in the pointlessness. Make up your own meaning and pursue it. Absurdism.
You can accept that it is pointless then enjoy it in spite of the pointlessness. More absurdism. Hedonism and others work here as well.
You can be a coward and give up your own working mind and surrender your free will to religious nonsense. Give yourself to jesus if you can live in a drooling idiot level of cognitive dissonance.
The bigger point is you are limited because you are not seeing any points. There are many points. But some of them are like unwritten songs. You have to make them up.
I guarantee you have not seen enough life, yet. You are limited by your experience.

I want to provide some discussion towards the tabs vs. no tabs debate. Took a look at the tabs to one of my favorite songs on one of the top tab apps on the internet.

https://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/pillows-hybrid-rainbow-tab-s15420

Let's just take a look at the intro. It has it like this:

--3-5-7-3---------------2-3-2----10------10--------------
-3----------3-3-5-3------------3------8-8-----8-----------
0---------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------

This doesn't really make sense, it feels like you're not in the right position and your fingers are stretching to hit notes too much. It's better like this:

--------5-7-----------------------------------10--------10----
-----8-------8-----------------7-8-7-------------8--8------8-
--7--------------7-7-9-7--------------9-7---------------------
5----------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

you only have to move your hand once halfway through, and you are using chord shapes. you only learn this if you learn chord shapes and reading music instead of relying on the tab
