does it feel like the sims yet?https://voca.ro/1dklGzAepREZ
>>130103672Not really, but you're creating your own style, which I think is cool. Are you familiar with space age pop? Like that 50s/60s upbeat music you would hear in cartoons, featuring lots of pizzicato strings and xylophones/marimbas/vibraphones?I highly recommend listening to a lot of this and drawing inspiration to add to your sound.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdZC7XbAdAs&list=PL_sYQhkVZssIWmvJU2OeteOGix9CL-Msk&index=12Keep it up, bro.
>>130103813im assuming you guessed i was the guy who made this as well? if so, thank you - glad im "recognisable" lolhttps://voca.ro/1oRm8vTRfVcG>Are you familiar with space age pop?nah, I haven't but this is a cool album - will dig into more of the genre. any other recommendations?my biggest influence is this album (theres an extended edition on spotify), but i wouldn't say i'm exactly trying to recreate it (or any other style/song)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRqjwAe5XYM
>>130103911Yeah, I remember I mentioned your track sounded like something you'd hear on the Weather Channel. That's a cool influence too. You can probably chase the chain of inspiration back through the Japanese composers who made stuff for the Wii back to City Pop that they would have grown up listening to in the 80s.I don't have any specific recommendations for Space Age Pop, but just searching for that genre should lead you to some gems. I'm going to start digging back through that style for some of my own inspiration. The fashion of that era is really cool too.
>>130103548She was so much better before she hit the ozempic
>>130103572Who cares, no one clicks those. At least it doesn't have the usual bloat with it like links to other boards. You fucked up with the picture though, so OP remains a faggot as per usual.
>>130103672no, but the mix seems good to me, quite clear and balanced. kind of refreshing compared to most of the shit you hear in these threads (and my own stuff).
>>130105345her music has stayed consistently great though wym..?
>>130103548I usually make some sort of electronic music and don't really pick up the guitar and I certainly never record but I am trying something new here. I even have vocals written but only recorded roughly for reference for now. They're not in this version. It starts right away on the "verse" and moves into a "chorus".Then there's an instrumental section I am planning to fill out more and back to verse. I'll also make an intro. Thoughts on the sound? It's probably not too exciting but it is pretty fun to record guitars. I have two guitars panned L/R in the verse and a third one comes in in the chorus. I think there still should be a brighter guitar that plays a sort of lead, maybe with quite a lot of reverb. I'll fix sloppy playing when its all laid out.https://voca.ro/1ft6tY6gWsLs
fuck, the more you add to a track the more you have to meticulously fine tune because it has to connect seamlessly with the shit before and after it
https://vocaroo.com/13nR8q3rqdUPWhat's your all's thoughts on this? Is it fairly cohesive? I've been trying to breakdown song structures I like and create my own song off of that structure. So for this one, I used a style like starjunk 95 as the base.>>130106353sick anon, it feels like psychedelic radiohead. I think some of the drum / hats are a bit stiff at times, but otherwise it feels otherworldly.>>130103672I like it anon, its very chill... but its a little too late-night city jazz for sims (albeit if youre going for the sims ubz, you mightve hit the mark). To me, the sims needs to be peppy with more plucks and less crooning horns>pic related
Do I want Splice?
>>130107537yes or else you’ll never sound good and exactly like everybody else
>>130107595Well I never use loops but I'm short on vocal samples.
>>130107605what i said stands
I'm too sleep deprived to tell if I fucked up on some of the steady 16th notes on bass guitar here or not. Thoughts?>https://vocaroo.com/1gLLCbiGjJ3W
>>130107937Bit of a compositional clusterfuck with too many parts and poor pacing between transitions.
>>130108008It's a cover of a song that's composed like that. Appreciate it, but it's not what I asked about and posted it for.
>>130107937Yeah what he said>>130108008also you can forgo the the metallic tick/pluck sound
>>130107937>>130108123The two fags>>130108008>>130108145are retarded and cant read. Some of the bass plucks later on feel maybe just a tiny bit off. Maybe redo those.
went through an old project file yada yada is there too much low end here especially when played on bigger speakers?https://vocaroo.com/1etov2oUilGi
>>130106981Gonna steal your shit
>>130106981i think the idea itself works and has real potential, but the sound selection leaves something to be desired cohesion wise. it also gives lazy/amateur when you don’t swap sounds on the switch ups, as do some of the effects- it’s not always the sounds themselves but the feeling that they were selected randomly or not processed to be part of an identifiable sonic palette at least.
>>130103548Anyone decent with mastering?I like witchhouse and distorted loud mixing/mastering but I find I can't achieve their loudness and dynamics and often just resort to using ozone presets. Here's my latest work, how bad is it lads?https://voca.ro/1fdU0phTuQIt
i am starting 2 wonder,,,.....,,, https://vocaroo.com/1cH5l1WIyuoq
>>130103548I think I need to make the /prod/ threads this OP and the previous (probably the same) is a retard
>>130110276well first off you need to look at the mix first. you need to scoop your low mids way harder, mostly with the bass. also your bass stays pretty high which isn't necessarily always a no-go but it's definitely not helping against the pad and doesn't stack up against others in the style sub wise. the pad also shares tones with the lead.all of that is contributing to poor use of room frequency wise, and will contribute to final loudness/clarity.no idea what you're doing with your kick and snare but you want those to be the primary triggers of any clipping/limiting down the line so that they have more perceived impact.
>>130103548God imagine fucking a baby into PinkPantheress
>>130109521yes. getting too much of the harmonics of the bass coming through in my opinion.>>130106353guitars sound good. drums are a bit boring sonically
>>130106981doesnt really remind me of starjunk at all, but its not too badalso not a fan of the vocals, particularly when it choruses at 1:22. just feels a bit too alvin and the chipmunkspractice building tension, because pretty much every transition feels weak
>>130105895Music?
>>130106981Sounds catchy and cohesive enough in my ears. Good track to build some "ear candy" on (I hate that term)Thanks for the feedback you and >>130111286I'll pay extra attention on humanizing the programmed drums.
>>130111403i dont think the issue with the drums is the quantisation or anything, they feel human. my issue is just they're not great tonally/sonically. potentially need some light distortion or something to help the feel
>>130111266I like some of her music; nice cute voice too.George posted a bootleg UKG/House track that used a vocal snip from one of her songs a couple days ago.
>>130112113not only did you delete your post, but you deleted the vocaroo too.jesus, bro.justburself
>>130112171the world isn’t ready and neither am iit was just a worse version of a guitar-breakcore song i did like 2 years ago because im bored as hell if what i’ve been doing lately and probably need to just go back and mix stuff from that era
>>130112182You got time to figure that shit out, bro. Grandma Moses started painting when she was 78.You'll be able to utilize those sound design skills and the knowledge you gained learning how to learn / how to progress /etc. as well.I'm almost a 40 yo unc and I'm not giving up yet. Still trying to figure out how to tie my experiences into something unique to my journey.

Guess I will finally fix my old shit, anyone got a monitoring setup that goes low who can give me some feedback?Mainly interested in below around 60hz. Tips on where to cut off would be appreciated too.Examples:This one sounds about right:https://vocaroo.com/19Q0Tuhxl3R5Borderline about this:https://vocaroo.com/13csFD59gIHqThis one too, bit much:https://vocaroo.com/1o5qQbF1d3sD
>>130117956This is a bit heavy too:https://vocaroo.com/1noQJpqx1aOdThis one seems weird, lacking perhaps. Love that fucker though:https://vocaroo.com/1hSnSOXD3aw8Too much:https://vocaroo.com/179eAfsjsth2I'll keep dynamic range large, not interested in the loudness war.But it should sound good on a large PA too, so that's a topic of interest. It's Psytrance, kick and bass are the pulse of each song, but everything above is just as important too.
is kontakt 8 a meme? i just downloaded the danilov or whatever that Russians name is portable version from you know where, seems like a clusterfuck. did i get tricked into installing ru crypto miners

>>130119871>>130119959I still compare myself to successful artists and can see im lacking but feels good to be closer to the point I wanted to be when I started all those years ago
>>130120643Just some shitty goth-metal alt tracks, nothing special. >>130120569Even if I keep the beat proper, it still sounds shit and out of place. Might switch up what part I use for downbeat. Thinking I'm NGMI bros

Looking to play/record solo (bass, from post-punk to something jazzy, reggae, Primus-ish or experimental) wondering if a looper-sampler would be a good tool for a soloist, as in: build the drums and other stuff using the sampler then play my bass along with it.>inb4 just get a DAWI'm a software engineer so I want to take a break from the computer as much as possible unless absolutely necessary (when recording).>inb4 touch grass and meet peopleEveryone in their thirties is busy and not looking to be the next diddy, also most people lock in one or two styles, my musical taste is just too broad for most people.

i didnt realize you were supposed to hard pan rhythm guitars but now i went through listening all my favorite metal and rock records and literally all of them do it. i would generally just double track and then do like 50%l/r

>>130125984FL Studio has the manual in a chatbot-style wrapper now called Gopher. You can ask any 'How do I do X in FL?' type questions and it will tell you. It's drawing from their official online manual and resources, so the answers it gives are not just random AI bullshit pulled from incorrect reddit posts. It just makes getting the info you need from their manual accessible inside the DAW.
