The whole concept of 'heaviness' is misunderstood imhoSlow, groovy 150bpm death metal is fun but it isn't that heavy if you really think about it. The production/vocals could be really extreme but if you could get basically anybody to bop their head to it, just how heavy is it really? Same goes for black metal. Sure it's got strong atmosphere but in order to create that it sounds so thin and brittle, it leaves such little impact.
