I thought about doing that as well as a way to make money while doing my flight training. Was also surprised by the age limit.
Apply to your local airports operations or maintenance division. Alternatively FAA Tech Ops or Air Marshals if you have prior mil experience. Being a ATC sucks those people seem stressed constantly and they work rotating shifts. I wouldn't recommend it.
