bike is life
>>1999880I think you could have gotten a size or two larger frame.
roast me
>>1999918>surly>special>envey tho, like surly's are renowned for being gaspipe, so why put a fancy fork on there?Beyond that, a slammed gravel bike? lmaorace kings>pathfinders>1x drivetrainNo roasting required.
>>1999919I put the ENVE fork on it because it got it for a reasonable price (200€) and participate in some road cycling events / group rides in which i get dropped like a brick in ascents. Did a 200k last weekend, without the rack however.I got the pathfinders because I can't be bothered to go tubeless and they have better puncture protection
>>1999920>surly>dropped like a bricknot surprised tbqhRace kings are just memed. Pathfinders i have heard to be good too.Oh, and the 1 1/8 headtube is kinda chunky for a bike with such smol tubes.
>>1999918I hate it less than I probably should, the main thing triggering me is those brakes
>>1999878What's with the AI slop?
>>1999910I prefer it this way. Im in between sizes but have proportionally longer legs/shorter torso.
Left
>>1999954hmm. That bike must have an agressive toptube length increase then. I can understand not wanting to go up a size and get a 80mm or smaller stem. One of the reasons I like vintage bikes, most cap the top tube around 57-59cm and I can run any of those with 100-120mm stems. At least you have good drop and those hoods are long compared to old stuff.
Sup /n/onces
>>2000839Is the derailleur working well?
>>1999972Small boi but noice baiku
She's getting her legs, needs new brakes ASAP
>>2000840It’s getting by. Thanks for the advice Think I might have to offload this thing soon though. I’ve put too much money into it and there’s always something new going wrong
>>2000851bad mech disk brakes or do you mean new rotors?I saw from tracevelo that pad upgrades can help a ton, and may be worth trying out before you look at better calipers.>>2000853Sometimes that's the way she goes.
>>2000860Bad Mech. First step is compressionless housing, then pads yea. Hypothetically these are some of the better mech discs, but it's not even the stopping power but the fucking RUBBING that is driving me crazy.the other thing I need to decide is which sticker to put on it...
>>1999918lol it still looks stock>>1999919>surly>gaspipeWhat? They're nice steel. But, even if they weren't they accept up to 45c tires so it doesn't really matter how supple your frame is. Unless you're one of those nerds that thinks small tires (≤28c) are fast on the street (they're not)
>>1999920>i get dropped like a brick in ascents>it's definitely the bike's faultpottery
>>1999919>surly's are renowned for being gaspipeyeah, that's what I thought, too, but apparently we're wrong. they use butted cro-moly, it just doesn't say Reynolds or whatever on it https://surlybikes.com/info_hole/spew/some_things_about_our_steel
mountain baiku>>1999918Looks really nice actually.
>>1999878
>>2001020Beautiful, looks fun to crooose. My MTB
>>2001065My other mtb (for roads, gravel/dirt paths)
>>2000941Based except take the bottles off of the frame, makes it look like a hybrid or something that isn’t as capable which modern hardtails definitely are. Otherwise cool lightweight trail missile, bet it’s fast. I like that you’re running Shimano brakes with SRAM mechanical 12spd, when you go to replace your rotors something with Shimano ice tech cooling fins would be clean.
Those two bottles with proper drinking caps are super based and refreshing to see among all these nerds with their alu bottles with screw caps. It looks good, like he is out there sweating and drinking
>>2001106cringe
fixed
>>2001127that's a really cool looking bike but I feel like the bottles should go with the paint. the black ones look off, even though the black on the rest of the bike looks good.
>>2001065those are cool guys
Not my bike, but saw this in queens todayOld Chinese guys are geniuses
>>2001127absolutely gorgeous
>>2001127Great picture, cool paint on that bike. What bottles are those and do you like them?
Taking this as another opportunity to post the melon MarinI really like this bike I didn’t even buy it intending to enjoy it, I bought a 1989 muddy fox pathfinder I imported from the UK which UPS lost for a month, I presumed it was gone, so I bought this in a dilapidated state just to have a reason to use all the parts and tools I bought And then the pathfinder showed up anyway, and doesn’t fit me because I’m 6’3” and a 19” frame from 1989 is the least comfortable thing known to man
>>2001209Like this thing is super cool because it has all its original accessories and I’m a sucker for branding like that, but I don’t even have current show-y pictures of this because I barely ride itI swapped the entire drivetrain to deore lx m560 in black as 1x7, it absolutely rips, it’s just I can’t get distance out of it because it’s too small for meI sunk a lot of time, effort and money into this for it to just sit around and look pretty and I kinda feel bad about it
Into the sweaty season. Half and three-quarter fill bidons, freeze and top up before starting ride.
>>1999880Man, that's a long one -- I hope that it's stiff enough.>>2000839Nice, like the bar end shifters.>>2000887But George Best gets 'em on the rebound. >>1999918Not much to roast, neat.>>1999972Neat.>>2001066A kickstand. That's way too practical man, get some wanky bit of clear plastic that doesn't show in pics and is a PITA to tote about. Apart from the lack of a wanky bit of plastic everything else is ace.>>2001127Nice! Here's to a future with actively coloured surface coatings, those colours on the wheels without the inconvenience of dumbass spinners, rock and roll!>>2001209Cool colour scheme. Long stems and big melons on the same thread? Wait, this is /n/!>>2001210>>2001209You swabs, I see n+1 here.

Need dropper asap also better fork would be nice. I wish i can put some lefty
>>2001270A dropper post, for what? Seems like the highest elevations there are gopher mounds.
>>2001238>>2001239>>2001240>>2001239>>2001240>>2001241>>2001242>>2001243>>2001244Anon, you need help.Neat BMX though, I like the late '90s style frame.
>>2001210Is that wheel disk original?
>>2001274>my way or the highway
>>2001272I like how you judge this based on just one photo
>>2001274>Neat BMX though, I like the late '90s style frame.yeah it's heavy as shit but its funoriginally had a gyro that i deleted
I upgraded the chainring from 42 to 44, now it's 44/22. The original plan was to relace the front for drum brakes and fixed gear rear. Now I'm conflicted on those plans, 44/22 coaster brake is perfect. Anyways, I already managed to go over the bars without brakes by sending it through a gnarly rock garden a klunker has no business being in. The front wheel got stuck between a rock and my momentum kept going forward lmao
>>2001373I also already broke my clown horn :(
>>2001373Sounds like a good time
>>2001373sick clunker a lot of trust you're putting in the ol bike stick lol
Here's mine
>>2001404Nice and practical.
>>2001277Yes, it would’ve been one of the items to originally come with the bike when it was newMost of the muddy foxes you see now don’t have any old that stuff because they would just crack and then the owners would remove them, much like the spoke protector
>>2001242What's the doodad on the underside of the top tube?
>>2001404approved
>>2001415braze on for a race number
Just finished my build and am test riding it, was supposed to be a budget build but ran way over as usual!
>>2001436Let's try again...
>>2001437very nicegosh that DA stuff is pretty would look sick with a tsubasa bar I'd desticker the wheels how does it ride? stable enough for the aerobars?
>>200143That's well nice. The aerobar setup looks a bit heavy but that ain't a problem because you'll be looking forwards and wont see 'em. Enjoy!
>>2001437Cumberland farms? Milk bike?
>>2001440thanks boss, it was a fun build and prepping the frame properly made a world of difference in the assembly. I also discovered the magic of Jagwire shift cables/ferrules and will probably never go back to shimano again.I actually did think of the tsubasa bar at one point, but they're mad expensive on ebay sadly. I got these bars with brakes and shifter for 50 bucks which was insane, so I went for these instead of steel DIY bullhorns with STI shifters. The wheels were a good deal and are semi-temporary, if I see some nice fulcrums or ksyriums I'd consider upgrading but for now they're good enough. The ride is buttery smooth, and I'm still getting used to the bars, I'm getting a bit more confident on them on straights, but descending and cornering will take some time. Overall she corners pretty well, and I'm used to feeling everything on the road with a carbon fork so it's a bit of a learning curve and a different experience, but I really dig it so far.>>2001446Locally made frame from a company that no longer exists. I couldn't even get decals so had to restore it and get customs made up.
>>2001445They're full carbon easton bars with DA shifters so they're pretty light thankfully. The stem is 140mm long though lel
>>2001413I'd love one of these for my '90s MTB. But nobody seems to be making them anymore.
>>2001373I love that clunker restomod look. Sick bike.
>>2000839class
>>2001127love that paint
>>2001494the regular pink not-hot pink tape looks great with the Chrysler desert turquoise
>>2001494I like those quill stems with the welded design, they slam further then older quill stem designs and are very light.
>>2001549True, but for strength you can't go past the based nitto jaguar forged steel stem. Profile aren't bad and all, but the clamp tubing is generally thin and the welds are prone to fatigue for bigger/stronger riders.
>>2001578More of a cinelli 1a guy in a 100-120mm if I am going forged. However I do not endorse 26.4mm stems or bars. Still don't understand why cinelli fucking made a new standard at the time.My welded stems are old ITM/italmanuburi ones or 3T
>>2001581ITM AND 3T are probably the best made stems of the era for sure. The 1A is a great stem too, with a nice chunky pinch bolt, the milano is also pretty cool too. The pearl and jaguar are comparable if you don't want to be stuck with 25.4.I did have a 1A and some rare cinelli 14 bars on a build and they were pretty rad for sure.
>>2001168That's right
>>2001244Thanks anon.
>>2001238Looks fillet brazed.fancy>>2001242This bike mogs other commuters.
>>1999878Comfy ride around town. Thinking about adding multi-gear to this bad boy.
My shit-heap I use to get around town.>inb4 frame 2 smallDon't care, it works well.>>2001218Extremely dope bike. The unpainted carbon rims really add to the cool factor. Is the fork also bare carbon or painted black? I can't tell.>>2001238Nice frame, shame about the grandpa stem.
>>2002526>Nice frame, shame about the grandpa stem.Shaming another Anon for working around too small of a frame while oneself riding like one doesCurious.
>>2002533Judging by the saddle height it clearly isn't too small a frame. The stem only raises the bar, meaning you have to bend forward less than on a 'regular' road bike. These kinds of stems look unsporty imo and don't fit a roadbike's aesthetic.
Suggestions?
>>2001127Very cool bike, but... what is going on with the picture? The lighting looks artificial as if there's a spotlight on the bike, but it seems to be daytime, but it's all so dark anyway
>>2002824do a barrel roll
>>2002824If you don't have it, frame protection under the rear fender.
i haven't been to n in a few yearsposted in old thread by mistake.>>2001437>>2001218>>2001127>>2001020clean
>>2002840Its called "flash" anon, your phone will have this feature too
>>2002824A bottle cageI'm curious about that rack anon, i would guess it sways like crazy if you load say, a 6 pack? I would consider adding another set of struts if you can find nice ones the right length. You can get spare tubus rack arms.

My off-roader
>>2003658Was this photo taken by the Google streetview car or something?
>>2001218I got the same bottles, but I feel like my zefal arctica keeps cooler for longer
>>2003688Smart phone cams have a fisheye mode for taking photos with friends. I saw some people using it once. I don't have any friends so I'm not sure how to use it
>>2001437>cumberlandnice, i had an ancient steel grandpa bike from that brand, the frame held up really well
>>1999938>>1999878>What's with the AI slop? That's my question.I can't imagine anywhere investing that much money in developing a bicycle 'superhighway' like that. Taxpayers would shit themselves, have a fucking stroke over it.
>>2001274>you need help.idk looks to me like he's doing great
>>2004696You should cut your steerer tube before your stem cuts it for you
>>2004697it's biting on the plug, not empty tube, but yeah, I've got the fit about where I want it by now
1981 original hardware previous owner had it refurbished. it's a joy to ride
>>2004813Based tange champion(?) enjoyer
>>2004813That's quite lovely. Nice proportions with the chunky tires. Sick colorway and graphics. That split.. those hoods are fucked right? The cane creek ones will fit those levers if you trim them a little with a knife. Get some off ebay. Your bartape job is shit so good chance to redo that also. Your front brake cable is a little short. The cables should peak at the same height. The rear is a little long. Your brake pads are askew. Fix that. Actually, get new brake pads. I would delete the reflector. The quick release on the seatpost with the cam is awesome. Is that a rethreaded campy skewer lol? Your front quick release skewer is on the wrong side. Is your quill stem overextended?
>>2003073It's the seido stage front rack, and since the weight is above the wheel axel, it does not sways much. This rack is not for heavy loads for sure
>>2004815champion #2>>2004818>That split.. those hoods are fucked right?yea. i want to replace them with some softer hoods these are hard plastic.>Is that a rethreaded campy skewer lol?no they're suntour skewers>Your front quick release skewer is on the wrong side. Is your quill stem overextended?i flipped the front wheel to try centering it but i will have to dish it. it's off by about 6mm. i have the stem about a cm below the max hight mark. need to work on flexibility
My baiku <3 recently got it tuned up and changed some parts on it and love it even more now
is it ok to post a pic of my bike here anons?
>>2005069No. This thread is one big inside joke amoung us /n/iggers. Under no circumstances actually post your own bike
>>2005069whoa, nice 0 reach stem. Neat.
>>2005065tits or gtfo
my daily driver, a CAAD optimo 4, converted to 1x and modified for commuting.
>>2005084heh, that crank looks a little funky with a larger 45+ tooth ring and the smol bcd.Looks nice and functional, big guy.
>>2005085thanks! it's a narrow-wide 52t, old chainrings were 34-50 but i never used the small one so it made sense to convert it for less weight and a better chainline
>>2005084so do you just walk up the hills now? or are there no hills where you live?i like the raw aluminum frame
>>2005106it's very flat where i live except for the occasional bridge, but i usually stand on the pedals and power though them in high gears anyway. only use low gears after coming to a complete stop at traffic lights and suchthe frame is just painted sadly, i would prefer if it was brushed aluminium
>>2005084>convert to 1x>better chainlinesweet bike though sadboys 2001 bizarre to have such shit pedals, would be a huge upgrade.
>>2001404>no bottle cages
>>2005073No u
>>2005118>better chainlinei mean the difference is miniscule, but it sits in between where the old 2x rings would be, so the chainline is more centered than only using the big ring.>shit pedalstrue, these are the ones that come stock, replacing them soon with cheapo plastic ones that look less ugly. it's hard finding pedals for road bikes, it seems to all be either clipless or big heavy mtb ones with pins. any suggestions?
>>2005238nylon mtb or bmx ones with pins and then back the pins most of the way out on one or both sides (or, if plastic pins, file/grind). I just get aliexpress clones. They're so much nicer to ride than cheap/casual models. If you insist on meme pedals then MKS make several nice ones, like Always , lambda, etc, that's what i'd ride if i wanted to spend more money on them. Just stay away from classic style pedals unless you're gonna run them with clips & straps.
Hello my fellow cyclist. I, for one, have also partaken in so-called "touring".Image related. I hope that you're proud of me.
We ridin
>>2005819sick bike. I'd love something like that. Think it'd be cool with a small custom framebag wedged into the front of that triangle. They're not that expensive.
>>2005823Thanks bro it was a long time in the building.
>>2005819I don't know that brand but you bought the frame and built it up yourself? neat!must be a boutique brand if they still use Columbus steel.how did you decide on what stuff to put on?
>>2005941I had a mountain bike so I took the dimensions off a frame I liked the look of and had Marino build it for me, then swapped the parts over.
>>2006023ah, so Mr. Marino is your local framebuilder or is this like an internet company ? >the look of so this is just aesthetics or you could see this geo was providing performance your original bike was lacking? good stuff . cool colors, too.
>>2006023hahaha oh wow very nice
>>2006034Mr Marino is a frame builder in Peru. He speaks no English and conducts all of his business through an intermediary but I couldn’t be happier with the service. It’s a little daunting having so much control over a bicycle frame so as to be able to pick all of the standards used, tubeset, working out how much suspension you can run etc but the result was great and all my questions were answered very quickly. If you google Marino Bike his website will come up. I think I used the last of his Cromor tubing. Here’s a progress pic for you.
>>2006034And yeah it’s a competent bike, rides great and better than the GT frame but the main driver for me was wanting a quality steel frame in a nice colour. I do still ride MTB parks on it as well as road like today.
>>2006054>>2006055fucking cool.that's crazy you had to pay to get it shipped from Peru but looks like it was worth it .you should put some kind of bright colored housing on it at some point
>>2006054Rock and roll!
Swapped out my 7 speed 105 for a mix of 8 speed 600/XT and 10 speed Campag levers. Seems to work fine and I definitely prefer the paddles to the Shimano systems I’ve tried. In fairness I’ve never tried Ultegra which would be a fairer comparison to Centaur but I like the “clunk” of Campag. Only issue is with the modern compact as the frame is more built around a 52/42 or 53/39.
>>2006520gorgeoussensible speclose points for wonky front valve, valve caps, cables too long, overtightened cinelli stem (jfc)the high braze on is annoying, i've had that issue a few times. You could maybe make an adapter like pic rel ? Or grind it off and just use a clamp. Or maybe just extend the slot a tiny bit with a file. Or get a 110 bcd 52t ring. Those exist and you could keep the 34.
>>2001373I fingered a chick there, lol
>>2006520that is a clean machine, my man.I really dislike the red housing but I'm probably just weird.the campy silver levers and paddles look so good with your other components. too bad the hoods are black but sometimes there are aftermarket ones in colors.never seen a 32 spoke wheel radially laced before.
