What are the best cycling trousers?

For years I've worn jeans but I keep getting holes in the crotch area, which is probably where they're rubbing on the saddle.

I have one pair of cotton jogging trousers so I might start wearing those for cycling.

What trousers do you guys wear? I can't be bothered with lycra trousers just for commuting short distances.

bike fags wear lycra so buy something with lycra mixed in

MUSA pants by Rivendell are nice, but spendy, and they don't seem to run sales on them like they used to, but they do last a hell of a long time. Urban Cycling commuter pants are similar, have the same type of gusseted crotch and reflective accents, and they're on sale right now for about half the cost of the Riv ones.

I replied to you in the other thread

Thanks. Yeah maybe some kind of specialist cycling trousers will be the most durable. But I'm a cheapskate so maybe I'll just get cheap sports trousers, and if they wear out, I can just buy something else in the future.

Unironically get some work pants of your choice and double-stitch a thick patch inside the crotch. A kitchen towel works pretty nice.

I've got a set of Kuhl Renegade pants that have been great, I've had them for about 3 or 4 years wearing them for cycling and hiking and they're still going strong. One seam has a loose thread and I got a small tear on the material on my thigh but that probably happened when I got hit by a car last year.

Why not build the overtrousers into the bike frame?

I started wearing MTB trousers as default everyday wear years ago, for precisely this reason. Works well.

anons will literally do this instead of just wearing bike shorts to ride because "muh lycra"

Imagine working with a guy who wears silly pants everyday

This is your problem right here: wrong saddle or adjustment. Nothing should be rubbing. you probably need a modern, narrow nose, small contact patch it will change your ride and your life

Bro.... those are shimano STI(shimano total integration). My geuss is early 8 speed looking at the nice ibis bike, smol cluster, and smol derailleur cage.
Could be 600(ultegra) or dura ace since those brakes look like 7400 or 7700 dura ace. Bet it's 7700

I used to wear 5.11 ripstop pants 10 years ago and those lasted a while Probably some china outfit makes them cheap now
