QOTT:
1) If you could travel on any ocean liner in history, which would you choose?
2) Aesthetically, what do you think is the best looking liner?

S.S France. This ship looked gorgeous to me as a boy. People who did voyage aboard
said it was top notch inside as well. It's heyday was during the 70s -80s.
>>

You mean the 60s-70s? By 1980 it was already Norway

I've often thought of this. For me the answer to both would be the Normandie.
>>
Depends on if I get the power to speak the language of the ships operator or not.

If so, I'd choose S.S. Rex with Imperator as second choice.

If not, I'd choose S.S. Great Eastern, with HMHS (RMS) Britannic as second choice

Based Britannic enjoyer, easily my favorite of the Olympic Class liners

1) NS Savannah
2) See 1. No smoke stacks.

That's an ocean liner? All the cranes make it look like a freighter
>>
>>2025393
>All the cranes make it look like a freighter
It was a combination freighter/passenger liner. Built as a demonstration project.
>>
>>2025491
Cool idea, looks like shit.
A nuclear passenger liner would have been cool, but the dual purpose looks like a cope ship. Also, stacks are a big part of what makes liners look cool.
>>
>>2025366
I really wish we could retvrn to nuclear futurism, nuke tech now is so much better than what we had back in those days, you could probably shill nuclear transatlantic passenger ships doing ~80 hour crossings to the green freaks who are concerned about airline emissions.
Plus ocean liners are already just so damn cool, and what makes something cooler than NUCLEAR POWER?
>>
>>2023659
I've always thought Normandie looked kinda fat
>>
>>2027659
>what makes something cooler than NUCLEAR POWER
it'd be cool if all the nuclear waste were stored at your residence.
>>
>>2028317
NIMBY detected. Nuclear waste isn't generated in quantities big enough that it can't be handled.
>>
I would have wanted to be on the Carpathia with Titanic survivors as long as I wasn't on a strict schedule.
>>
>>2022885
Will we ever return to passenger transportation on ocean vessels? Cruise ships don't count.
>>
>>2028324
"NIMBY" would be a more effective insult if it wasn't constantly being used by special interest groups pushing bad faith "this is for your own good" arguments for the benefit of a few wealthy oligarchs
>>
>>2028644
IIRC NIMBY was popularized by people not wanting nuclear power plants built near their towns.
>>
>>2023659
Neat fact; The first liner to have an early type of radar before there was one. She had a directional microwave "obstacle detector".

Lusitania has really grown on me over time
>>
They took them from us
>>
>>2022885
Literally the titanic.
>Inb4 such a bland and boring take
Most aesthetically beautiful ship and interiors. I also Like the 3rd Rotterdam (picrel). I think a lot of the old ocean liners with clipper sterns look very nice.
>>
I also love the design of the rmmv oceanic(unbuilt, dismantled on slipway) I wish it had been built, it looks way better than the Queen Mary.
>>
I do Like the Normandie but I think it’s a bit overrated imho.
