...why in the love of Hitler did this happen?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-t5lbPJGsYDid nobody consider that oversized loads (giggity) need to be protected? Did nobody call UP dispatcher to inform them of the blockade once it happened? This wasn't some soccer single mom doing OF in her car to support her mutt kids, those were professionals moving a high-value freight. Yet - two men are dead and millions of material damages were sustained. How fucking come?
There are youtube comments saying what should have been done. It's the middle of bumfuck texas with some dumb trucker making a mistake and costing lives.
I don't understand where all these "truck parked on a railroad track" videos come from. Granted I live in NYC and my primary knowledge of truck parking is based on yimby tantrum "truck stops" created punitively by rapacious developers, and of course the ubiquitous trucks parking on top of the magic green pain (john forester did nothing wrong btw). But I mean.. it's flat land, there are no obstructions, are they just rolling them onto the tracks and taking the keys out of the ignition? What am I not getting here?
>>2028366It's a low boy. The tracks are on a hump. The truck bottomed out and got stuck. Truck drivers are morons and never think to call the emergency number on the crossing.
>>2028375And crossings don't have cameras or sensors either? How hard it can be?LMAO how can be americans (citizens and authorities) so fucking stupid and lazy?
>>2028383Where are you from
>>2028383Is putin paying you enough?
>>2028375>Truck drivers are moronsOh well, time for the trucking company to go bankrupt.
>>2028375This is what I don’t understand. Yes,>freedom!!!and all that jazz, but it would really make sense to have some rules on how a crossing has to be designed and how a truck must be designed to be allowed on the road. If everyone just goes >lol, gonna built how I want to!you get these issues.
>>2028519Where do they do this now?
DOT is ultimately at fault for not building the road that crosses the track properly. Also, the truck driver had an escort crew that was supposed to check for shit like, tight turns, low bridges, high crossings etc. they failed as well.Furthermore, nobody called the number on the crossing placard to let the railroad know to stop the train.Additionally, the cops stood by doing nothing and just watched, which is par for the course when Ameriggan cops are involved.Just, one more thing, the Conductor and Engineer are the real victioms here. RIP in peace to the train drivers
>>2028605>car hits pedestrian/cyclistCHARGE HIM WITH MURDER>train hits vehicleliterally everyone else's fault but the engineer
>>2028609> Imagine being this American.>>2028605My point exactly - this wasn't some lone trucker being inattentive or overly ambitious with his driving. This was an organized oversized load - this requires permits, a route plan, and people knowing how to move those things. At least in a real country.
>>2028605I don't know how you can blame the DOT when this is obviously a crossing for a small town in west Texas. It lies completely on the crew hauling the OVERSIZE load(i.e. normal streets aren't always suitable for it) and picking a poor route, not calling the emergency number, and just being overall fuckups.
>>2028609No driver has ever been charged with anything pedestrian related unless they were literally carrying an ISIS membership card and yelled jihad jihad islam jihad in a sing-song high pitched soprano voice
>>2028519they're safe for most vehicles but not all vehicles. truck drivers are always drunkard methheads and their vehicles present unique handling issues so they get into these kinds of problems
>>2028609More or less how /n/ tends to view this shit
>>2028383Crossings don't have shit, planes/trains/whatever have archaic proprietary systems that they pay out the ass for
>>2028605Reddit spacing.
>>2028366You've got retards all over the world. Last week here some moron didn't want to wait at the barrier - the results are what you would expect. Lucky for him the train was slowing down into the station.
>>2028715Proof?
Yeah this one's on the trucking company, but also on the DOT. You have to get permits and shit to haul oversize/overweight freight, I'm fairly certain that part of that permitting process is to map our your route. Why they didn't have any sort of contingency for the truck getting stuck, or to at least call the railroad and schedule the move between trains is anyone's guess. But like every other law, this will cause some new legislation that's written in blood.
>>2028366Trailer bottomed out in this particular situation but more often than not trucks get stuck on railroad tracks because the driver was shifting gears while crossing the tracks and the tranny has chosen that inopportune moment to shit the bed. I've got an Australian HR licence and I remember my instructor (old fella with an MC licence) always telling me to avoid, if possible, any shifting while crossing tracks precisely because sod's law would choose to kick in then and there.
>>2028366I don't get this trucks vs trains either, why not work together like here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ODxu9PRSBs
>>2028385The first world, you silly mutt
>>2028630>truck drivers are always drunkard methheadswtf? Are you in Africa or somewhere?
