Anonymous Democrats wonder why they suck 11/09/24(Sat)18:28:25 No. 1361349 Democrats are wondering why nobody likes them. Evidence is suggesting the shortlived failed experiment of progressivism has come and gone. https://www.semafor.com/article/11/06/2024/democrats-ask-why-didnt-anything-work Democrats ask: Why didn’t anything work? On Wednesday afternoon, as Kamala Harris conceded the presidential election, Democrats confronted the idea that a short progressive era had come and gone. In Ohio and Montana, two populist Democratic senators who’d always defied gravity succumbed to it. In California, voters ousted two reform prosecutors in deep blue counties – Los Angeles and Alameda – while recalling Oakland’s progressive and scandal-plagued mayor. Arizonans voted to allow local police to enforce immigration law; New Yorkers were on track to reject a new city diversity officer. All of that unfolded on a map that got redder outside of a few cities and suburbs, and far redder in majority-Latino areas that had rarely voted Republican. Before Tuesday, no Democrat born after 1986 had ever voted in an election where Republicans won the popular vote. Now, all of them had. They were not entirely sure why. “I would love to see some kind of autopsy,” said Faiz Shakir, the founder of the progressive journalism channel More Perfect Union, and the manager of Bernie Sanders’s 2020 presidential campaign. “I would worry about a party that said: Let’s move on, let’s fight, let’s get into resistance mode.” Sanders had urged Democrats all year to reach unlikely voters and emphasize their economic policies, many shaped by him after the 2020 primary defeat. On Wednesday, before Harris addressed supporters at Howard University, he said in a statement that Democrats shouldn’t have been shocked that a “party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them,” white and non-white. >>

Anonymous 11/09/24(Sat)20:03:21 No. 1361361 I'm asking myself the same thing. Democrats had a massive political machine and Harris had over a billion dollars she squandered. How in the world did democrats lose so badly? They had their figurative nuts kicked in all across the country. The Democrats who haven't already had their nuts cut off are nowing singing soprano. I really thought Americans were so dumb that they'd vote for whoever Taylor Swift/ jimmy Kimmel told them to vote for, but they pleasantly surprised me >>

Knocking on doors, phone banking, and pouring money into traditional media is so much more expensive and ineffective than a good 4chan meme spread through twitter or Andrew Tate hyping you up (especially when they do it for free). Elon thus eliminated the (physical) ground game and focused on meme production and bots. Like people laughed at him, but who is laughing now? There's also a lot of anti-incumbency bias, not just in America but globally. People are tired and angry at the global economic/political order and want something new. Populist parties are way up, whether ethnonat or otherwise.>>

Anonymous 11/10/24(Sun)16:04:13 No. 1361583 >>1361574 He probably has plans to account for unpopularity. If Elon and Vance are right, they're going to break the economy to fix it, meaning that the next 2+ years will be shit. As American voters are goldfish, the midterm will be a slaughter. Trump and his advisors probably know this, which means that they'll have a plan to circumvent the BTFO (maybe use the military to coerce congress, assassinate rivals, and/or postpone the midterms). That means purging the military and replacing officials with /theirguys/ (literally part of their plan). This takes time, and they'll be working against a lot of institutional inertia, not to mention rebuilding all the other bureaucracies they plan to gut and replace. So maybe it'll take about a year for them to consolidate as federal workers/military members are kinda hard to sus out and get rid of. On top of this, next year's budget has already been decided, meaning it's going to be difficult to get any new major initiative funded. Then they have a year to act. This is all assuming people and states aren't throwing wrenches into the machinery all along the way, not to mention that people are already going to be pissed if Elon/Vance are right. It doesn't take much to drag things out. Just look at how much trouble Florida and Texas caused for Biden after all. Putin, Xi, Stalin, and Hitler had institutions who were much more friendly to them and it still took several years for them to consolidate power. What I'm getting at is that their plan pretty much requires the seizure of democratic control for it to logically work out. This will be fast and clumsy, and we might end up seeing the rise of a president for life (which isn't that long considering Trump is ancient). Or maybe they realize all the above and decide not to do a universal import tariff, settling for targeted/symbolic tariffs instead (but that would run against Elon saying that 2025 will be a very rough year we should buckle down for the wild ride).>>
