Anonymous Democrats Propose Shadow Cabin(...) 11/16/24(Sat)20:48:23 No. 1362720 https://www.yahoo.com/news/shadow-cabinet-us-150606117.html>Thread theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnaUjQ7zCzs With Donald Trump taking back the White House, a Democratic congressman is calling for America to borrow from the British and appoint a shadow cabinet to "fight back" against Trump’s agenda. Rep. Wiley Nickel, D-North Carolina, first shared his thoughts on a shadow cabinet in an op-ed published in The Washington Post. In an interview with LiveNow from FOX, Nickel pitched a shadow cabinet as an effective tool for Democrats to publicly challenge the incoming administration. "We need new ideas," Nickel told LiveNow from FOX. "Democrats have to stop playing defense and start going on offense. It’s not enough to say we’re against Trump and his Project 2025 agenda. We have to say what we’re for, and that’s what’s really behind this idea, to get folks there to counter every cabinet agency, every position that Trump appoints." A shadow cabinet is a team from the opposition party that mirrors the ruling party’s cabinet members. The shadow cabinet has a point person for every cabinet position to challenge their counterpart in the ruling Cabinet. >>
Anonymous 11/16/24(Sat)20:48:41 No. 1362721 >>1362720 Nickel said it’s been done for a century in the UK. Canada also has a shadow cabinet in place. "They watch the Cabinet closely, publicly challenging, scrutinizing and offering new ideas," Nickel said in his op-ed. "It’s democracy’s insurance policy. And it strengthens the government, too: There is no room for lazy ideas when rivals stand ready." Nickel said U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate leader Chuck Schumer could appoint 26 Democratic members of Congress to go "one-on-one" with each member of Trump’s Cabinet. "It’s really easy," Nickel said. "It’s a communications push. It’s about putting out our positive message to counter what we’re seeing from Trump. And if Trump or his Cabinet secretaries step out of line we’ve got somebody ready to go and answer, and be accountable to the American people on things we care about." Nickel gave a list of potential picks for a shadow cabinet that could be appointed after Trump takes office in January:>Senator-elect Adam Schiff, D-Calif. – Shadow Attorney General >Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash. – Shadow Defense Secretary >Rep. Suzan Delbene, D-Wash. – Shadow Commerce Secretary >Rep. Rosa Delauro, D-Conn. – Shadow Health and Human Services Secretary >Rep. Jahana Hayes, D-Conn. – Education Secretary >Rep. Gregory W. Meeks, D-N.Y. – Shadow Secretary of State >Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo. – Shadow Treasury Secretary >Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill. – Shadow Veterans Affairs Secretary >Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Fla. – Shadow Environmental Protection Agency administrator "This is about putting a point person for advocacy groups, for the public, a lead messenger … we need to organize our opposition," Nickel said. "We can do our own American version of a [shadow cabinet] that will help Democrats do the thing we didn’t do, which is get out our positive message and talk about the things that folks are rightly concerned about.">>

Anonymous 11/17/24(Sun)11:35:05 No. 1362802 There was a Shadow cabinet which was steamrollered by a Conservative Party: several years ago, with an 80 seat majority. Then several months ago those Conservatives were steamrollered by what was a 'Shadow' cabinet, but is now a government with a massuve mandate: five times as much as that 80 seat majority. Thus Democrats can do the same: work in the shadows for several years than emerge with a majority. They're infinitely more intelligent than that led by what is basically Ronnie Raygun 2.0 in terms of senility >>
Anonymous 11/17/24(Sun)12:01:08 No. 1362805 >>1362802 Turkiye refused to let the Israeli president's plane enter its airspace. President Isaac Herzog reportedly canceled his planned visit to the United Nations COP29 climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, because Turkey refused to allow Israel’s state airplane, Wing of Zion, to fly though the country’s airspace. Herzog’s office announced on Saturday that he was canceling his planned visit to Baku, saying the decision was due to “security considerations.” However, according to a Sunday report on the Ynet news site, officials in Azerbaijan took exception to the suggestion that their country was not safe for Herzog to visit, and said the real reason for the cancelation was Turkey’s refusal. Israeli officials were cited as saying that the cancelation was indeed due to security assessments, but that they at no point had said there was a security problem in Azerbaijan itself. Azerbaijan, an Israeli ally, is bordered by Iran to the south, and a direct flight to Baku from Israel would either have to fly over Syria, Iraq and Iran, which is not possible, or over the Mediterranean Sea and through Turkey and Georgia. According to the report, an Azerbaijani official said Israel and Turkey had engaged in “intensive negotiations through diplomatic channels that lasted for several days but did not yield results,” and ultimately Ankara refused to allow use of its airspace.>>

Anonymous 11/17/24(Sun)14:36:46 No. 1362818 The U.S.A would work better if the government was just a bunch of smart people making unanimous decisions together. If a single person disagrees, then that change won't be able to get pushed. They will have to fight for years, decades even to try and get a 100% unanimous decision. Fuck voting. Just have both democrats and republicans all have seats, and remove the president. >>

Anonymous 11/20/24(Wed)10:09:33 No. 1363334 >>1362896 Yes it fucking is. We live in a Democratic Republic. Meanwhile, your side is in favor of eliminating the filibuster, admitting states to stack the senate for decade against repubs, and stacking the supreme court after blatantly ignoring their rulings. You also give representation to illegal aliens over actual citizens. That's very anti-democracy. Also Biden literally issued the most executive orders in history. Notice how Repubs can do half of those things now that they're in power, yet don't.>>
