https://nypost.com/2024/12/19/business/nearly-10-of-nycs-drugstores-closed-in-2024-amid-rampant-crime-study/

Nearly 10% of New York City’s drugstores have closed this year — a dramatic drop following a decade of retreats that has slashed their number by 40% as shoplifting continues to run rampant, according an explosive study.

The number of Walgreens, Duane Reade, CVS and Rite Aid stores across the city shrunk to 395 locations in 2024. That’s versus 435 last year, and down sharply from a peak of 656 in 2014, according to The Center for an Urban Future’s annual report titled “State of the Chains.”

Locals blame recent changes to the law where offenders are detained then released back onto the streets often within the same day.

>Legalize crime
>Crime increases exponentially
>Crime statistics lowest in history
Sensational

>reclassify crimes so exclude them from the count
crime is down everyone don't worry about the super crimes that we don't include in the count.
>>
>>1374111
To be fair, tripsanon, legalizing crime would cause crime to decrease... Which actually would explain the trend you just brought up

Corporate hyenas use over inflated shoplifting stats as an excuse to create food & medicine deserts. And OP, who beside being an animal pervert freak, is stupid enough to repeat the Corpocracy's propaganda.
>>
>>1374149
Not animal, but animal, I keep turning on autocomplete spelling for phone posting( the dynamic ip address has it's advantages)

>as an excuse to create food & medicine deserts.
Why would they deliberately create a market for outside competitors?
>>
>>1374171
There is no outside competitors anon.

> Le evil corporations not wanting to sell product and make money.
Mmmm, I wonder why that is? Seems almost paradoxical to me.

There is no such thing as a "food desert" It's a made up leftist spook to strawman away that the problem is the people in those areas, not the grocery stores. Go to Walmart on the 1st of the month and look at everyone using their EBT and you won't see a single person buying vegetables.

Basically. Big Pharma charges an arm and a leg to private pharmacies, while selling drugs to CVS/Walgreens for peanuts. Then CVS/Walgreens sweeps in and buys up the struggling pharmacy. Non-corpo pharmacies now only make up around 20 percent of prescriptions in the US (see http://web.archive.org/web/20241230120820/https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/19/business/drugstores-closing-pbm-pharmacy.html).

With competition killed, CVS/Walgreens downsize/lower the quality of their services to make more profit. This enshittification is why you might have a store with only one cashier or pharmacist handling absolutely everything even as profit doubles, or why pharmacy deserts are now a thing (local pharmacy closes down because of above, CVS/Walgreens do not move in because it wouldn't be profitable enough). This is why it's been taking longer to get prescriptions fulfilled and been a rise in wrongful prescriptions (see https://web.archive.org/web/20240423185532/https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/31/health/pharmacists-medication-errors.html).

It's been going on for years and getting worse and worse.

>oh no, national chain drugstore locations are down 10% during high inflation
>gotta spin this as class warfare to keep dumbass maga shills angry at poor people instead of the CEO's of these companies making record profits
>good thing maga shills are desperately retarded
Its funny watching you retards celebrate being pawns
>>
>>1374322
Your post doesn't even make sense tho.
>>
>>1374322
>muh inflation.
395 shops down from 656 in the past decade

You're the real slave. I work my but off so one day I'll be the guy making the calls. That's how America works. And those CEOs are the reason why we are the wealthiest country in history. The rest of us basically ride their coattails. If they all left to form their own society, we'd all die within half a year.
>>
>>1374321
This anon is smarter than me, so listen tp them about retail deserts
>>
>>1374327
That's right, anon, keep that American Dream alive
>>
>>1374313
Imagine being this retarded. Can you even read a map?

all stores in NYC are either upscale designer flagship shops with a guard blocking black people from entering or bodegas where you wait in the vestibule and the cashier brings everything to a bulletproof window and you won't be able to touch product until payment is completed.

this is 100% true for basically every small business including doctors getting pushed out by discount urgent care chains who only hire PAs and less credentialed underpaid employees as well as H1-B scabs.

would spiderman be considered a villain for beating up robbers in today's climate?
>>
>>1374457
depends on if the villain is black
>>
>>1374457
Would spiderman stop mobs or black people looting pharmacies daily?
>>
>>1374463
probably
>>
>>1374149
why would corporations not want to operate for-profit businesses in safe neighborhoods without mass theft? You aren't making any sense.
>>

The modern world is closer to Spider-Man 2099 than vanilla Spider-Man.
