https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/20/sculptor-charlie-kirk-statue-new-york

A New York sculptor has been left furious after spending $100,000 of his own money to build a lifesize statue of Charlie Kirk, only to find that no one wants to buy it.

Sergio Furnari, originally from Italy, had hoped the statue of the deceased far-right activist, which he intends to display in Times Square, would raise “millions” of dollars. Instead, he said he has been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture.

To add injury to insult, Furnari recently broke his foot working on the statue, after tripping over a roll of tape in his studio.

“Is it cursed? Maybe. I don’t know,” he told the Guardian.

Kirk, a far-right political figure who served as a sort of Pied Piper for young Republicans through his Turning Point USA foundation, was shot dead in September last year. He was known for his racist and bigoted views, using his podcast to claim that “prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people” and speculating: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like: ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”

Despite, or perhaps because of, such beliefs, Kirk became a hugely celebrated and influential figure in Maga circles. In New York City, one of the most diverse, and Democratic, cities in the US, Kirk is far less popular.

Furnari said he did not agree with Kirk on “certain issues”.
>>
“I wasn’t a fan of Charlie,” he said. “Like one thing that I couldn’t stand about him while he was alive [was] when he was talking about Palestine. [Kirk would say]: ‘Oh no, Palestine doesn’t exist.’ I thought: ‘Well, this guy must be out of his mind.’”

Instead, Furnari said he made the statue in an effort to “glorify and to exercise the first amendment, this freedom of speech” – although at points during the conversation, Furnari also said he made it to support Charlie Kirk’s wife; to “glorify democracy”; and to “commemorate a person”.

He later added: “Why am I making the statue? The same reason why Michelangelo did the Pietà, or Michelangelo did the David, or Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa. Why? Just to commemorate a moment, you know, a person.”

It’s also clear, however, that Furnari, despite no one having commissioned him to make the statue, was hoping to make money. He said he had expected unnamed wealthy figures to donate to him – he spent $100,000 on steel, resin and labor – but that has not come to pass.

In desperation, Furnari set up an online fundraising campaign, hoping to raise an initial $150,000, but potentially millions of dollars, which he said would allow him to take the statue on tour. As of Thursday, he had raised $1,400.

“I was thinking that it was going to resonate with the world, with whoever, but man, people are strange out there,” he said. “Meaning like, nobody is really coming up with support, especially financial support. So far I’ve spent all my money on this.”

Regardless of his broken foot and light wallet, Furnari said he did not really believe the Kirk statue was cursed. “The statue is not cursed. The statue is blessed,” he said, in spite of all available evidence – but he has certainly been left angry.
>>
“Things financially are a total, absolute nightmare. It’s like wow. People are cheap, man. You know, people talk, talk – I know lots of people out there, and everybody’s so cheap. You know, like, it’s disgusting how cheap they are.”

Furnari’s latest plan is to place the statue in Times Square on 10 September – the anniversary of Kirk’s death. He hopes that will drum up interest, and maybe allow him to recoup some of his costs.

Until then, Furnari is left with a 6ft 4in statue of a renowned racist, which he has spent $100,000 making, and which no one wants to buy. Maybe it is cursed after all.

It could make for good target practice.
>>
He looks like Butthead.
>>
>>1524762
now that's something i can get behind
>>
>>1524762
>It could make for good target practice.
I think you could split the difference and turn it into a fountain
>>
>>1524756
/pol/ will chip in…
>>
>>1524756
How the fuck does anyone break their foot by tripping on things? I've heard of that happening but I've done much worse than trip on things and never come close to breaking anything. It's just faggotry spreading to the common man and making him weak I guess.
>>
>>1524772
Most MIGA morons are weak cucks who fail at almost anything
It doesn't surprise me that anyone mentally compromised enough to think this statue was needed is also weak enough to break their foot.
>>
Reminder bronze is mostly copper.
>>
Of course it was all performative. The fact that all of the people rending their clothes and gnashing their teeth rolled out the exact same lines about "going too far" when people quoted Kirk verbatim should have clued him in that it was all fake and gay.
>>
>been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture.
>To add injury to insult, Furnari recently broke his foot working on the statue, after tripping over a roll of tape in his studio.
Why is this so funny? I'm crying with laughter.
>>
>>1524756
why in nyc of all places that place is a cesspit of domestic terrorists.
>>
>>1524756
>muh far right
lol
>known for his racist and bigoted views
like... what?
>“prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people”
Well it happens more than the reverse that the left keeps fearmongering about.
>“If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like: ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”
literally wtf is wrong with that? The left pushed to have pilots hired based on race/gender instead of qualifications (IE actual racism and bigotry), any sane person would want their pilot to be qualified.
> renowned racist
lmao
This is coming from a leftwing rag that supports ACTUAL racism btw (like anti-White and anti-Asian discrimination in universities)

How did that shit cost 100k?

what a load of crap. he's trying to get TrumpBux like every other grifter.

God, you're esl

esl shill trying to cargo cult the insults back is glorious, pure subservient cope
>>
>>1524771

why in /news/ of all places is 1524784 a domestic terrorist?
because the esl shill proves that all conservatives are violent, thus domestic terrorists
>>
>>1524802
He's not only violent, but a racist too >>1524787
>>
>>1524756
Even their statuary looks AI generated.

>He was known for his racist and bigoted views
I see we're still pushing this bullshit.

>and speculating: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like: ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”
Yes! In the context of DEI lowering standards to push diversified pilots. If the standard was kept the same for everyone then there wouldn't be this doubt people have of competency. It's the same thing in the military - there are two different physical standards for men and women. Therefore, a woman soldier does not get as much respect as a man even if she can do the job. This is a logical stance to have, but of course pointing this out makes you racist.

>diversified pilots
In just one day in March 1945, the 'Master Race's' ''Aryan ubermensch' were proven to be nothing more than inferior subhumans when pilots of North American P-51 Mustangs with red tails - denoting they were the squadron known as the Tuskegee Airmen who were black - shot down three Luftwaffe planes over Berlin. Which planes? The Turd... I mean Third Reich's supposedly 'superior technology' that was Messerschmitt Me-262 jets.
>lowering standards
>DEI
Well, considering what happened in that one day over Berlin in the latter months of WWII by certain pilots of P-51s, you tell me, certainly why inferior subhuman racists will never be respected. You can also ask why a certain American aerial re-enactment group have a P-51 with a red tail in their collection, and why they changed their name from the Confederate Air Force to Commemorative Air Force years before all this BS about statues removed etc.
>a woman soldier does not get as much respect as a man even if she can do the job. This is a logical stance to have
Someone in today's Bundeswehr Luftwaffe proves your opinions have no logic, thus subhuman misogynists will never be respected. Why is Ulrike Fitze one of their top pilots?
>>
>>1524815
Schizo rant aside, did the black pilots in WW2 have LOWER standards??? Yes or no.
>>
Considering their schizo ass, 1524817 is an inferior subhuman.

is being a moronic esl shill getting to you?
yes or of course
>>
>>1524817
>Did the black pilots who outperformed white nazi pilots in better tech have lower standards?

Brainlet question aside, are you a dumb racist faggot, yes or yes?

>discriminating against women makes you racist.

No, being racist makes you racist, discriminating against women makes you sexist. My mom wore combat boots, was five six, and I bet she killed more people in the middle than your parents combined, even if you inherited your psychopathy from a serial killer. She didn't have trouble commanding the respect of the men who served under her. You're just an insecure little faggot, that's why other people's genitals and skin color matter so much to you.

1524817
>I-I-I can't beat historical facts which prove my retarded opinions wrong, thus I must call someone who calls out my wrong opinions a "schizo"
Accusations are Admissions, projecting esl shill.
1524819 is a moronic projecting esl shill because yes, of course they being proved wrong is getting to them.

The projecting esl shill is proven to be a violent conservative, thus a terrorist.
The esl shill is a fag.
The maker of that statue and all Kirk glazers can make all the demands they want, they'll get nothing and like it.
>inb4 "schizo" etc
Accusations are Admissions, esl shill.

You can't answer because it blows your bullshit argument away, so I'll just accept your concession and save time.

Those professionals from the Tuskegee Airmen in WWII to F-18 test pilot Victor Jerome Glover: part of Artemis II's crew in 2026.
A subhuman retard in /news/
Those who have superior standards, such as the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, and >>1524820. And those with no standards, such as an inferior subhuman esl shill in /news/.

its important to esl shill that as many other races are categorically inferior because its the only way they aren't in the bottom quartile of humanity

>New York sculptor spent $100,000 to make a Charlie Kirk statue no one wants to buy
Meanwhile, a Kickstarter campaign raised over three-quarters of that amount for a statue that was installed in Detroit in December 2025.
Of RoboCop.
A fictional character is respected more than Charlie Kirk.
>>
>>1524857
Leftists love robocop because they also feel trapped inside their body with no way out.

Others love humiliating the esl shill, because 1524858 is trapped by their humiliation fetish with no way out after the midterms and the death of MAGA two years later.
Your move, creep.
That which is dead. And Murphy, after OCP's CEO asks him his name

I can't imagine being a leftist and thinking that Trump leaving office means that everybody who hates you is going to spontaneously disappear.
Half of the GOP thinks Trump is too extreme, the other half thinks he hasn't gone far enough. And that latter part is growing.
>>
>>1524860
which part hasn't he gone far enough with, esl shill? grifting, rape, pedophilia? losing wars? expound on this thought
>>
>>1524860
>Half of the GOP thinks Trump is too extreme
Too extreme to what? It can't be to support if they're still calling themselves Republicans.

Also the left knows the right is radicalizing. Nobody fucking cares. Nobody with a functional brain on the left is thinking outreach towards the right is prudent or even viable in this environment. Politics is all about turnout and suppression of the opposition now.
>>
Republicans: We want to shred the constitution
Americans: No, you can't do this.
Republicans: You are genociding us, we have the right to shred the constiution and submit to israel
Americans: Just help America.
Republicans: Full on war, we hafta, waaaaaahh

MIGA are all conditioned to submit to billionaires, sad!
>>
I can see the likes of the halfwit esl shill 1524860 thinking the Gang Of Pedophiles is growing, when it isn't. And it won't after the midterms. The esl shill is becoming more extreme the closer November comes when Trump's power spontaneously disappears.
And everyone laughs at 1524860 the more impotent they become.
>>
>>1524863
