https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/20/sculptor-charlie-kirk-statue-new-york

A New York sculptor has been left furious after spending $100,000 of his own money to build a lifesize statue of Charlie Kirk, only to find that no one wants to buy it.

Sergio Furnari, originally from Italy, had hoped the statue of the deceased far-right activist, which he intends to display in Times Square, would raise “millions” of dollars. Instead, he said he has been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture.

To add injury to insult, Furnari recently broke his foot working on the statue, after tripping over a roll of tape in his studio.

“Is it cursed? Maybe. I don’t know,” he told the Guardian.

Kirk, a far-right political figure who served as a sort of Pied Piper for young Republicans through his Turning Point USA foundation, was shot dead in September last year. He was known for his racist and bigoted views, using his podcast to claim that “prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people” and speculating: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like: ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”

Despite, or perhaps because of, such beliefs, Kirk became a hugely celebrated and influential figure in Maga circles. In New York City, one of the most diverse, and Democratic, cities in the US, Kirk is far less popular.

Furnari said he did not agree with Kirk on “certain issues”.
>>
“I wasn’t a fan of Charlie,” he said. “Like one thing that I couldn’t stand about him while he was alive [was] when he was talking about Palestine. [Kirk would say]: ‘Oh no, Palestine doesn’t exist.’ I thought: ‘Well, this guy must be out of his mind.’”

Instead, Furnari said he made the statue in an effort to “glorify and to exercise the first amendment, this freedom of speech” – although at points during the conversation, Furnari also said he made it to support Charlie Kirk’s wife; to “glorify democracy”; and to “commemorate a person”.

He later added: “Why am I making the statue? The same reason why Michelangelo did the Pietà, or Michelangelo did the David, or Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa. Why? Just to commemorate a moment, you know, a person.”

It’s also clear, however, that Furnari, despite no one having commissioned him to make the statue, was hoping to make money. He said he had expected unnamed wealthy figures to donate to him – he spent $100,000 on steel, resin and labor – but that has not come to pass.

In desperation, Furnari set up an online fundraising campaign, hoping to raise an initial $150,000, but potentially millions of dollars, which he said would allow him to take the statue on tour. As of Thursday, he had raised $1,400.

“I was thinking that it was going to resonate with the world, with whoever, but man, people are strange out there,” he said. “Meaning like, nobody is really coming up with support, especially financial support. So far I’ve spent all my money on this.”

Regardless of his broken foot and light wallet, Furnari said he did not really believe the Kirk statue was cursed. “The statue is not cursed. The statue is blessed,” he said, in spite of all available evidence – but he has certainly been left angry.
>>
“Things financially are a total, absolute nightmare. It’s like wow. People are cheap, man. You know, people talk, talk – I know lots of people out there, and everybody’s so cheap. You know, like, it’s disgusting how cheap they are.”

Furnari’s latest plan is to place the statue in Times Square on 10 September – the anniversary of Kirk’s death. He hopes that will drum up interest, and maybe allow him to recoup some of his costs.

Until then, Furnari is left with a 6ft 4in statue of a renowned racist, which he has spent $100,000 making, and which no one wants to buy. Maybe it is cursed after all.

Of course it was all performative. The fact that all of the people rending their clothes and gnashing their teeth rolled out the exact same lines about "going too far" when people quoted Kirk verbatim should have clued him in that it was all fake and gay.

literally wtf is wrong with that? The left pushed to have pilots hired based on race/gender instead of qualifications (IE actual racism and bigotry), any sane person would want their pilot to be qualified.

Yes! In the context of DEI lowering standards to push diversified pilots. If the standard was kept the same for everyone then there wouldn't be this doubt people have of competency. It's the same thing in the military - there are two different physical standards for men and women. Therefore, a woman soldier does not get as much respect as a man even if she can do the job. This is a logical stance to have, but of course pointing this out makes you racist.

>diversified pilots
In just one day in March 1945, the 'Master Race's' ''Aryan ubermensch' were proven to be nothing more than inferior subhumans when pilots of North American P-51 Mustangs with red tails - denoting they were the squadron known as the Tuskegee Airmen who were black - shot down three Luftwaffe planes over Berlin. Which planes? The Turd... I mean Third Reich's supposedly 'superior technology' that was Messerschmitt Me-262 jets.
>lowering standards
>DEI
Well, considering what happened in that one day over Berlin in the latter months of WWII by certain pilots of P-51s, you tell me, certainly why inferior subhuman racists will never be respected. You can also ask why a certain American aerial re-enactment group have a P-51 with a red tail in their collection, and why they changed their name from the Confederate Air Force to Commemorative Air Force years before all this BS about statues removed etc.
>a woman soldier does not get as much respect as a man even if she can do the job. This is a logical stance to have

One police station, out of thousands, while the rest usually try to grab candidates with a college degree...

Or at least they used to.
https://www.lawofficer.com/police-departments-lowering-hiring-standards-amid-recruiting-crisis/
>One of the most visible changes is in education standards. A Stateline investigation this year found that the New York Police Department cut its college requirement from 60 credits to 24. At the same time, the Dallas Police Department now accepts applicants with only a high school diploma or GED if they have three consecutive years of full-time work experience. The story noted similar moves in cities including Chicago, Louisville, New Orleans, and Philadelphia, as well as at state agencies and the FBI. In Maryland, Montgomery County police recently scrapped a long-standing 60-credit college requirement altogether to widen the applicant pool.

>On January 5, 2021, the day before the Washington, D.C., protest that led to the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack, Kirk wrote on Twitter that Turning Point Action and Students for Trump were sending more than 80 "buses of patriots to D.C. to fight for this president".[36][37] A spokesman for Turning Point said that the groups ended up sending seven buses with 350 students.[36][38] In the lead-up to the storming, Kirk said he was "getting 500 emails a minute calling for a civil war".[39] Publix heiress Julie Fancelli gave Kirk's organizations $1.25 million to fund the buses to the January 6 event. Kirk also paid $60,000 for Kimberly Guilfoyle to speak at the rally.[40]

but if you can't lie about Democrats, people are going to choose their policies over Republican corruption
How is that fair? How is MIGA supposed to steal from Americans if they have to tell the truth?

Charlie Kirk is now in the state of Hell, but not that place in Michigan. Being in an absolute state that is ranked the worst where he's being throatfucked by demons because God sentenced him to that eternal punishment for the crime of existing, also for the crime of having wrong opinions yet Charlie can still fully vocalize his disapproval of what's been done to him
lmao. lol.
>>
>>1524999
are the demons raping charlie in his mouth hole, or the new hole in his throat?
Also, would you name the move where demons dock dicks inside Charlies throat from having penises shoved through both holes Kurking?
>>
>>1525001
>are the demons raping charlie in his mouth hole, or the new hole in his throat?
The latter, as this ensures Charlie can complain - to no avail - while he's being eternally throatraped by demons in Hell.

Not even a new thread. Proves how the esl shill behaves like a toddler, trying to get the last word due to their terminally bruised ego by always being humiliated. Try not to pop a blood vessel by being called out, 1525009.

But they met the standard? The article in question talks about them going through the standard?

Unless you're talking about the cop thing, which, again, they lowered the standard cause they couldn't find enough applicants.

>Zoomer's aversion to monogamous commitment is one of the worst things about your generation.
He didn't say that. Kirk didn't say anything about MLK and monogamy, so thats just an excuse you made up.
and Address the parts about the civil rights act
>>
So glad that fag is dead
>>
>>1525082
>>1524914
he said MLK was awful because he believed MLK was a hypocrite who didn't actually believe the things he said. Idk about MLK, but obviously this applies to modern leftists who get offended by what Kirk said. None of them actually support racial equality, and in fact the people getting offended at what Kirk said are the same ones who will tell you that only far-right White supremacists want people to be judged by the content of their character not the color of their skin.
>Civil Rights Act
Many on the right, particularly Libertarians, are against it on principle because they don't believe it's the government's place to tell businesses who they have to hire or serve. That doesn't mean they support racial discrimination, just that they don't think the government should force private businesses not to discriminate.

Contrast that with Democrats, who not only oppose both the Civil Rights Act and the Equal Protection Clause, but actually want both private businesses and the government to racially discriminate. I'm not aware of the "far right racist bigot" Kirk ever saying that businesses should refuse to hire somebody because of their skin color or that colleges should reject somebody because of their skin color, but that's what Democrats believe.

Also the Civil Rights Act can be abused. It's ironic that this anon >>1524891 wants to talk about one isolated case of a police department barring people for having a high IQ, when it's illegal for many businesses to give IQ tests because Democrats argued that it's racist and therefore the Civil Rights Act prevents it. Biden even tried to make criminal background checks illegal.

Although Charlie Kirk was a rightist, he ultimately leaned to the left.
