Definitely some kind of goverment fleet, or a state owned company of some sort. All 3 are identical, really basic spec and in the same condition. The blue one is lower mileage and less banged up, but they're all 5-6k each.
Really tempting bc the paperwork of getting these to germany and registered is a non-issue for me, but I've never owned or worked on something that exotic. Might get stuck with lack of one spare part half way in, czech only repair/service documentation etc

Tatra is carnivorous species. When you lower your guard down around one, you only have yourself to blame.
>>
>>27570191
The most bizarre fact about Taki Inoue is, that the Tatra accident was the SECOND time that season he was hit by a safety car. After suffering a mechanical failure during qualifying for the Monaco GP, his Footwork Arrows car was being towed back to the pits, in which Inoue was sitting with his seatbelts unbuckled, but still with his helmet on. Somehow, the organization failed to notify everyone in the paddock of it. So what happened is, after qualifying concluded, the famous Jean Ragnotti went out to set some hotlaps in the Safety Car for that event, a Renault Cilo Williams Maxi, and thus, near the end of the lap, came across Inoue's towed Footwork and rear ended it. This rolled the Footwork over, and actually ejected Inoue from the towed car. Good thing he was wearing his helmet, since he was still fit enough to start the Grand Prix the next day.

Might be difficult to find zaporozhets (jalta) without importing.

n Finland in 1965, Jalta cost 4,290 marks, or 7,660 euros (in 2013, factor 1.7855).

The functionality of Yalta was presented by organizing a trip of a few cars from Finland to Yalta on the Crimean peninsula, where the distance accumulated was more than 2,500 kilometers.

In the first few market years in Finland, Jalta sold quite well, but after that sales dropped. In 1965 and 1966, more than 500 Yaltas were registered in Finland per year, but after that sales declined due to technical problems and a bad reputation [3]. In 1967, less than 100 cars were sold, and the following year only 10. In its best years, a total of slightly more than 1000 Yaltas were on the roads of Finland.

At the end of 1969, 973 Jalta cars were registered in Finland. As a brand, it was also rare from the point of view that none of them were registered as vans.

Back then I wasn't as autistic as I was nowadays and my skills in commie shit weren't as honed. Nowadays I probably could turn it into a running, driving car, but parts availability is a massive issue.

Czechoslovakian technology was really interesting. One can only wonder what kind of stuff they could be capable of making if they were not always cucked by the West or the East.

The VW Beetle design was stolen from Tatra.
The automatic motorcycle clutch that made Honda extremely popular was stolen from Jawa.
CZ was first to put expansion chambers on two-stroke motorcycles. They also make cool guns.
Besides being a pioneer in innovative car technology, Tatra made some really cool trucks.
Praga made one of the best off-road trucks of all time and also some cool old cars.
Skoda made quirky rear-engined cars that had impressive potential and Skoda was arguably the best automaker in the Soviet Union.

Sadly, all of those companies were bought out by international corporations and now they just sell rebaged globohomo junk.
>>
>>27576910
Czechoslovakia also had their own computer and electronics companies, appliances, etc., that tended to be significantly better than what was found in the rest of the Soviet Union.
>>
>>27576910
Czech tech innovations got kneecapped when they were forcibly assimilated in the USSR after WW2.

>>27576915
They fought hard to have some degree of autonomy in the USSR, they were the most independent and western-sympathetic member. Soviets on multiple occasions had to send their army in and threaten total martial law to prevent anti-soviet rebellions. This also reflected in their economy where they didn't have to fully comply with the Russian command economy.

This is a pretty interesting article about RR sedans and prototypes:

Interesting to know that the tatra forebear, the rumpler trofenwagen, had a mid engine and a real 0.28 Cd, while the most aerodynamic tatra as verified by a full scale wind tunnel is the 0.3 Cd t600 tatraplan (the t87 in reality has a 0.36 Cd).

Yeah I'm aware that communist and everything else meddling muddied the waters for Škoda.

Might be even worse. I heard a version of the tale, where Skoda 720 actually got approved by the Kremlin, but when in early '70s all competent managers got replaced by talking heads, they got afraid that releasing such an advanced and competitive car so early after the invasion would upset the soviets. So not the Soviet Union, but spineless cowards that got in charge during the Normalization, killed the car.

Ironically having more power doesn´t cause the problem, it helps against it. The issue here is that the suspension arrangement can either handle braking or turning, but not both at the same time. The test that rolled the car was precisely the worse case scenario, which is a decreasing radius turn with a trailing brake.

If the rear starts to lift, the best course of action is precisely to go full throttle to put it back down, even if you have to drift through the corner.

>The VW Beetle design was stolen from Tatra
Truly a tragedy

the inspiration wasn't from that tatra. But to be fair to ferdinand porsche, he did a LOT more cars than just the beetle.

Doesn't matter what inspired him, when the result was Hitler killing off the poor Tatra 97, to not compete with his "volkswagen", and after the war Czechs simply continued with the production of Tatra 87, along with smaller and cheaper Tatra 57, sealing the fate of baby Tatra for good.

No. The only patent infringements were about some cooling system details, other than that Porsche, Ledwinka and Gans were mostly working side by side on similar cars. (the same way a few companies were developing similar skateboard chasssis-style EV just a few years ago)
The Beetle's general design and engineering was already done a few years before.
What killed the Beetle's forebearers form Standart, Tatra, NSU and Zündapp was simple economics. Nobody was willing take the risk of investing money into a mass produced, all-new, all-steel economy car with small margins. Most companies simply abandonend their plans, Tatra focused on larger cars which allow for bigger profits per car.

Tatra was working on a communist economy, they weren´t allowed to develop a mass produced economy car even if they wanted to (the t600 was very much a modernized t97) because the government had already given the task to another company and told them to just make trucks. They only managed to make the 603 because there was a shortage of high end cars for government officials and they weren´t willing to wait in line like the rest of the rabble.

And even the cars they were allowed to design were made in the AZNP/Škoda factory.
Not that that was a bad thing. Škodas were basically the best people's cars the east had. Most of the rest were Fiats, after all.

>Tatra was working on a communist economy
Only after 1948 ya dingus

It's not that skoda was a bad company, it's just a matter of pride in that tatra didn't want other companies building their cars much like skoda didn't want to build cars that weren't skodas.

Hitler did stop t97 production after invading the czech, but that was to avoid awkward comparisons; production of the cheaper, front engined t75 wasn't stopped. The t97 may have been a low cost t87, but it was still far upmarket of the cost conscious kdf wagen, it's not fair to see them as direct rivals.

Tatra 107/600 was smaller than 87, but still larger than 97, and also got a slightly longer wheelbase.

Except that moving to Skoda factory actually doomed Tatra 600, because while they could build them in larger numbers the quality dropped significantly. So foreign market lost interest, and domestically they were only assigned to government, party officials, and state owned companies. Not to mention that Bohemian Skoda workers didn't really liked the Moravian cuckoo on their assembly line.

>Skoda was arguably the best automaker in the Soviet Union

Pretty sure that Czechoslovakia was not part of the USSR and Lada Samara was much better and more progressive car than Skoda Favorit. Even the Germans admitted this in the late 80s when testing both cars

Ladas were always one step higher in the hierarchy, so Favorit is like VW Polo, where Samara is the Golf

Depends on the reviewer.

The front engined tatras deserve some love too.

It's a evolution of their v12 valvetrain arrangement.
