Speaking of ractracks, this is the road that leads to the Nürburgring (the L92). As soon as temperatures go into the double digits (in Celsius) all retards come out of their holes and it's almost like a shitty version of a "the Crew" or Forza Horizon game with all the bikes and boyracers out.

Here, I also made this extremely shitty video to show the road to a friend half a year ago

no, it's a Yamaha TT600 (the cooler version of the XT 600), but here for you I also had a (two) DRZ at the Ring.
Traffic heavily depends on when you're there, in the video it was the "Anlassen" event, a church service at the beginning of the biking season where you show up at the Ring with your bike and get blessed for the season. You also get to take a free ride over both parts of the Ring.

The cost of the new Ninja 500 / Z500 SE here is around $6.1k. I have checked for used bikes in the FB Market and retards are selling a used Ninja 400 at around $4.8k ~ $5.3 some are with additional accessories, but still it's almost the price of a brand new.

At what price range is a reasonable used Ninja 400 / Z400 ?

Is this a genuine part? Sometimes manufacturers use gasket hole size to regulate coolant or oil flow in order to solve some problem they found after the engine was in production. Or their supplier fucked it up (Honda most likely didn't make that gasket themselves.)

I fucking love this bike. I've only done 80km but I already feel twice as confident on this than my transalp. It blows my mind that this bike is only 20kg heavier, but it feels soooo much better and carries it's weight like nothing I've ever ridden before. No wonder there are so popular.
Even took it on a little dirt track with 100% road tires, the floating front tire was sketchy, but we pulled through. I my new bike.

No. I Most definitely not that CP2 engine. IIRC his retard had an ECU flash and a whole bunch of things done so he'd be pushing over 80hp at the rear wheel.

usual case for ktms too though, 390's notwithstanding.
>>
>>27585810
Not really. KTMs come high strung, this dude made his engine like that himself. Any garage mechanic can get HP numbers that KTM gives in their engines with similar engines, there's a reason most manufacturers don't.

>>27585220
My friend has one, and I have a 300L. I think the power of the 450 is overkill for what we like to do, which is mostly rocky and steep forest terrain in Northwest NJ, as well as playing around on the electric company's land. The 300 has a really low first gear so it has as much torque in first but just goes a little slower which I actually prefer. The 300 is also a lot more fuel efficient and gets to use the cheap gas, but it still goes fast enough for the highway. I have a full exhaust and a tune and it goes 80mph easily. I would only get the 450 if you are going to be riding on a track and doing jumps because that's the only place you'll need the extra power and will appreciate the significantly upgraded suspension.
>>

>>27585916
No but I can give you a useful piece of information. Everyone says the only downside of the 300L compared to the KLX300 is that the suspension is too soft and squishy. The Honda has the good engine and the Kawi has the good suspension, that's what they say. Well, I agree that the suspension is very soft and squishy but I actually think it's preferable that way for casual or low-speed technical riding because it's really comfortable and compliant. It's also preferable for just riding around town for the same reason. This bike can drive over curbs and logs like they're not even there and it feels like you're on a couch. I weigh 160lbs and I've never bottomed it out.
>>
How much should I pay for a 999 with no service records?

The whole order/sales is a seller trick, I remember my seller telling me that there is a 6 month wait list to get my Honda but, oh! When getting my bike at the shop because the others sellers may get mad.

Unfortunately I have nothing solid to lock it to. And landlord wouldn't want me drilling anchors into the parking lot. I do have a wheel lock and a cover, and fortunately I don't live in a shithole. There are a fair amount of people who park bikes in the open here.

If 4 stroke then next to none unless you score the cylinders or some dumb shit. The piston rings should be marked "this side up" and all that bullshit.
If 2 stroke, just throw the rings in there, align with the locking studs and hope they stay in place, otherwise they will get snagged on the intake or exhaust orifices and fuck up the whole cylinder.

So, the Biltwell gringo is perhaps the worst helmet I've ever put on my head and gone for a ride in.
Not only was it a nice 65F during this afternoon's tornado commute>>27586083, it was raining heavily. This thing is a sauna, zero ventilation, zero rain protection, just heat and humidity. Can't comprehend how it manages to funnel water in but can't manage airflow. I managed to break the plastic off on one of the pads as I was pulling them out to dry.
The helmet tapers down toward the neck and the neckroll is eps foam for some reason, making it basically a birth canal, blood inclusive. I managed to cut my ear on something. It's also made for people without a chin or cheekbones. I might have to adjust the pads in those areas.
and it's louder than the klim, which is already deafening.
The nice red paint , chrome accents, and price really don't excuse how shitty it is.

>>
>>27586745
Yeah, I was second-guessing myself after posting that
Minis probably teach you body positioning at a low risk which is more important for stunting

The grom is better than most minis in that it has gears+clutch, is surprisingly uncramped for it size (still a 30"ish seat height) and has a really nice first and second gear.
>>
>>27586745
Yeah that’s what I heard. I couldn’t bring myself to ride a grom so I got a dual sport, learned how to wheelie on it but looped twice (so far, hopefully that’s it). Probably would have been less risky on a grom. The balance point on them is pretty low from what I’ve seen, so you can learn rear brake a little more safely maybe. Never ridden one though. Never will either.
>>
This general exclusively gives bad advice
>>
>>27586781
ok. See you in the next thread.
>>
>>27586765
In middle school a buddy of mine found a 2-stroke pit bike and we got it running on a weekend and there's nothing to learn on those, you can go WOT, stab the clutch, pin the brakes, they're tons of fun but you can't really fuck anything up
Nothing to lose, nothing to learn
But like I said I do see the argument for stunting since that's more of a physical skill than a riding skill
I can't believe none of us ever got in trouble with that thing come to think of it

My brain still can't accept that valve checks on modern street bikes are real. Like all of the modern engineering and reduced maintenance on modern bikes and even a Goldwing that has an engine with the performance parameters of a '92 Civic is supposed to have half the bike torn apart for this shit, you can put a thousand service manuals and internet videos and shit in front of me to show it objectively exists but I can't truly believe.
>>
>>27586883
I'm just not going to check them until something becomes evident. People go 200 000 miles without having to adjust them.
>>
>>27586874
They could be anywhere.

>>27586690

>>
>>27586883
Bikes in the door=money.
Some bikes had hydraulic valve lash adjusters like the nighthawk 750, most harley's, many metric cruisers.
No one cares.

Oh, and the reason it's required is bikes get more performance every year and the metalurgy doesn't just magically get better.
>>27586862
Not my problem. If the price is to high I don't even bother, they can get fucked.
>>
>>27586892
>>27586883
How would you notice anything?
Do they make a sound or affect performance?

yeah they could do either or those or both if theyre out of adjustment
>>

>Oh, and the reason it's required is bikes get more performance every year and the metalurgy doesn't just magically get better.
No they don't lmao. Lots of bikes have less power than 15 years ago or so because they've been detuned for emissions and noise with no meaningful engineering improvements to compensate, a bunch have jacked up displacement just to hold steady, and even in categories where they have gone up they've gone up much less than cars have in the same period of time.
>>
>>27586860
I can see a case for the ebike. At the moment, they're basically pushbikes requiring no license, registration, insurance, and can be taken anywhere a pushbike can be taken.

if the valve clearance is too tight you can lose cylinder compression, too tight exhaust valves will burn up. if the bike is has multiple carbs it can really fuck up the synchronization of them because you have different amounts of air coming into the theoretically same displacement cylinders.
>>
>>27586903
Can you describe the sound or performance issue it might cause
I'm trying to diagnose my bike problems but have no idea what is causing the noise for my bike
It's a whiny noise, like it wants to just give up on life
>>
>>27586938
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkH6NDmuzMs

this is a great example of tight valves.
>>
Royal enfields need valve checks ever 10k miles. I wonder if they are easier to work on with those bikes because that would be annoying.
>>
>>27585748
Depends on how dedicated you are to learning what you don't know before you start working on it. Entirely possible, and a Ptwin will be simpler than a i4.
You need
>Workshop manual
>A workshop or area the bike can sit undisturbed while you work on it
>The correct tools
Do NOT skimp out on tools. The correct tool can turn a nightmare job that takes hours into a simple job that takes 10 minutes.
https://www.r7forums.com/threads/service-manual-links.95/#post-699

Anyway, start small. Watch all the YouTube videos you can find and take it slow. I'd suggest doing a fork oil service to dip your toes in.

Adding to that, I've done a full rebuild on a KLX650R and I do all the servicing on my Fireblade. I am not a skilled mechanic but I do enjoy watching wrenching videos on YouTube.
Keep posting your progress here and keep asking for advice. Join that R7 forum and lurk there, often really good information in those places. You'll make it bro, we're all gonna make it.
>>
>>27586963
Also, always diagnose before assuming. You say piston rings because it's consuming oil, but you should do a compression and leak down test to verify. Could save you a lot of time and money
>>
>>27586289
homie put some fuckin rtv on that bitch and loosen that hose clamp a lil that shit's gonna tear lmao

Well they are single cam singles and twins in bikes with no bodywork so it's not exactly doing a 20 valve R1
>>

300 looks like a fine machine, I have a tw200 which I am going to keep, it’s a good time, just looking for something a little quicker, lighter, with better suspension. valid point about low first gear, it is nice on the tw.

>>27586203
Nice ride. I want something with a little longer service interval though.
>>
>>27586971
I never found much issue with valves, a little notepad and a pen, some algebra, and it's done.
Biggest issue is the whole second guessing yourself when doing valves.
>hmm the 0.022 went in, but it did take a little bit of force...
>let me try the 0.019...
>does this one feel loose? let me try the 0.022
>do I even have the right shim?
I've always found syncing carbs to be more of a pain, because I never felt any tool I had was consistent enough.
>>
>>27586981
The real problem is getting to the valve cover on a super sport. On my Fireblade I have to unbolt the bloody radiator to get the cover off.

Spent like basically last money on gear.
Airoh Mathisse helm (no bully, glasses), Revit Sand 4 jacket and trousers + gloves, some random high boots. I still hesitate wich height should i get.

Weather around here might be shit in summer(2-3 months max), so ill try to sqeeze max out of above 0 degrees riding. Will look stupid on my Honda Silverwing Interstate, no doubt. But liners and other features seemed attractive.

Chain tentioner is still in Germany, in modification, so not a single meter rode since bought the bike. And a la from year 13. Gonna be fun with this top heavy moped. Should get licence too when comfybaikku is complete
