Used to wax it every spring after a thorough washing and polishing. Now I tried the turtle wax ceramic spray coating instead of waxing, we'll see how it goes.
There's an adv saying turtle wax is no1 in usa. But there's simply too much to choose from. Anyone already did the research and give the summary ?

If you have heavy sunlight all year long, theres zero reason not to wax your car at least twice a year since the UV ruins the paint otherwise. >>27605830I use a paste wax by hand and try to apply it at least twice a year. It's a bit of a workout, usually takes about an hour between applying, waiting for it to harden and buffing it off. Fills in minor imperfections in the paint and gives it a very satisfying feel to the touch

Just like everything else in this gay world I assume its just a spin on a very old car care product that a marketing department got a hold of and charges us $8 for a spray bottle of whats probably the cheapest surfactant possible. They seem to give an okay shine, but unless I'm doing that twice a week its just not as good as a solid wash and paste wax session. I do a nearly all day wash, wax, chrome polish, rainX, vinyl treatment, leather care, and plastic preserver on my motorcycle a few times a year. The wash doesn't take very long, but a lot of small pieces for waxing and buffing, then chrome polishing and buffing, then plastics treatments and buffing. It just takes several hours. I have 2 neighbors that do the same for their trucks; all fuckin day detailing them. We seem to do the task every 2 or 3 months and the paint on our vehicles looks showroom fresh still. We're not like the obsessed garage though of using 12 different buckets, water filtration, pressure washers, and all kinds of other autistic nonsense. Fresh sponge, fresh microfibers will put some scratches in the clear coat which can be clay-barred out, but fuck all that. These are regular vehicles, not show cars trying to earn money for the paint finish. Makes a huge difference, I love how smooth the paint feels to the touch afterwards. Your choice of wax, how often you wash it and your choice of wash chemical, weather conditions in your area, and indoor or outdoor storage are all factors in how long your wax will last. Carnauba has the shortest life (especially if you store it outdoors and drive in the rain), synthetic waxes will usually last longer. I clay once a year. You'd be surprised how much gunk the clay bars pick up that normal washing won't. You also reduce the risk of scratching up your paint with said gunk when you apply the wax by claying first.

Best method to figure out if you have flyrust or iron dust on your car is after foaming and handwashing it, slide your fingers gently over the paint. If it still feels gritty/rough, you have iron still stuck on the paint as it wont come off with regular washing chemicals

It's a reason you do it wet. It is advised not to clay all the time as this will eventually wear down your paint, just like you shouldn't polish your car all the time either.

Depending on how much you use the car, and if you drive in harsh contitions (like dirt roads) all the time, I wouldn't bother with being to hangup in keeping it mint and just get a paint correction a few years down the line if you feel the car is worth it.

But in sunlight its super obvious the light scratches. Anything other than direct sunlight it still looks good I guess. Oh well, I'll only wash and wax it as best I can.
