This is the best selling car in US right now. Is it worth its price?
No. The rav4 became progressively worse with each generation. I await for the shit show the facelift with the c-headlights will be. Second-gen was the last kino one.
>>27633353lmao no. Id rather have a Frontier for that price.
>>27633353Had one, fell apart, no.
>>27633353No. Get a Mazda 3 or a Prius if you drive >15,000 miles per year. Don't need anything more than that.
>>27633353I don’t get the appeal, but I suppose that’s why I’m here.
>>27633353i thought rav4's were supposed to be super reliable???
>>27633740>CVT
>spending over 30k on a car>it's not a manual transmission RWD V8what are you even doing
>>27633746I can't think of any RWD V8 you can buy new for under ~$38-40kCamero LT1 is $40k MSRP but the cheapest available new I can find right now is $44k, well above the $30k OP's pic is at.
>>27633488>PriusWhat about the Rav4-Prius?
>>27633767Here buddy, go nuts
>>27633741....and?
>>27633776>2023also they're not that cheap around me, closest within 500 miles is over $33k for the lowest specced R/T.
>>27633775I think the Prius has a Prius prime now. Just get that. Rav4 is bloat. I doubt you can anyway, the wait lists are probably still retarded for any prime car.
>>27633789'23 is the last year they were made retard>wont travel 500 miles for a dirt cheap challyboohoo nigga sounds like a skill issue
Is it true that CVTs have fake gear changes because people like gear changes?
>>27633798I know it was the last year, my point is they're only available right now, wont be there long, and for me at least i'd have to drive a full day just to get one, and again any spec you'd actually want the features and interior on will run you thousands more anyway. If you're the kind of retard that just wants a RWD V8 and doesn't give a fuck about literally anything else, go for it, but that isn't going to be most people, even most people who want a RWD V8 want more than that. The only RWD V8 worth buying new is $40k+ and that's just the facts.
>>27633858>the kind of retard that just wants a RWD V8 and doesn't give a fuck about literally anything elseYes
>>27633832Toyota's current CVTs have an actual physical first gear.
>>27633353I don't fucking think so but whatever floats your boat. That's the pre dealer ass fuck price too so in reality it'll be closer to $40k. I think that's just disturbing when you can be driving a big truck for that much. Gotta love the reviews of these things too. "It's good" or It's okay" or "It's alright". Yeah sounds like a real enjoyable vehicle for the money.
>>27633880This is true but to answer >>27633832 There aren't gears plural in CVTs, they'r'e one big gear that is able to produce the different gear ratios with magic fuckery. It still feels like shit but Toyota has a launch gear thing that is a first real gear. This is how I learned what one was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orJbK-BJHCo
go up one tier and get the highlander with the 2.4 turbo. my mom has one and I've done 2 oil changes on it so far. nice to work on and it runs well and has a 8 speed "direct shift" auto. pretty comfy too and drives good.
>>27633741>>27633832>>27633880>>27633926Fun fact: CVTs are banned in Formula 1 because it gave an unfair advantage to the top car at the time (Williams FW15C). In 1993 Williams absolutely buck-broke the rest of the competition and letting them use CVT in their cars would cement their domination for the next decade or so. So if you hear retarded car fags yammering on about CVT "feel" or other nonsense you can confidently disregard whatever they are saying because they are talking from their ass.
>>27633353No, since if you want a boring appliance car for the next decade+, you can get a stripper model Sienna that’s got more space, 3 more seats, and better fuel economy for about 20% more that RAV4.
>>27633353>Is it worth its price? Its reliable and practical, gets decent mileage and its easy to repair. Its boring; but its a good vehicle. The Rav4 Prime is honestly pretty neat, it gets 50 miles of electric range and then 40+ MPG as a hybrid and it has 300 horsepower which makes it fast enough to be mildly entertaining and capable enough to tow a modest 2500 lb load. Still boring; but if I was in the market for a boring utility car its the best one on the market.
>>27634083comparing a Formula 1 1-of-1 specially built CVT to a commercially available mass produced unit with entirely different philosophy of use criteria is crazy lol. also, a F1 winning CVT doesn't have to "feel" good. it has to win. the driver probably hated it. a consumer car with a CVT also feels like shit. CVTs are meant for scooters and atvs and snowmobiles.
>>27633740>>27633741You can get a Rav4 with an 8 speed automatic. CVTs do suck; but Toyota CVTs are the best of the lot.
>>27634112>the driver probably hated itYeah I'm sure he hated winning.
The early applications of CVTs from Jatco that went into many Nissans and Mazdas were garbage, and left a bad taste in everyone's mouth about CVTs. Most others, and almost all newer CVTs are superior normal car technology now.
>>27634173I just don't trust CVTs that use belts, they can fail catastrophically and need replacing by someone who knows what they're doing. A chain CVT is fine though like Subarus. They tend to last longer and are easier to fix.
>>27634197They're basically all using metal chains now. "Belt" has become a loose term.
>>27634217No, they use metal threads impregnated in rubberized belts. Subaru uses proper chains.
>>27634173Jatcos are fine if you change the fluid/filter and aren't a niggerspic >t. Mother has 177k miles on original rouge cvt
RAV4's have 8 speed auto, where is the CVT discussion coming from?
>>27634157Based moron ignoring the entire premise of his point.
>>27634616Your mom is black
>>27633353Had one, second worst piece of shit I've owned. All the plastic cladding and bumpers fell off of it, even lost a plastic hubcap the first week. Just popped off somewhere on the highway. They're just sticking all the plastic parts on it without really making sure it's firmly on there and this seems to be an issue with all Toyotas. Suspension went to shit early, around 40k miles it blew a strut, tranmission started getting skippy even though I changed the fluid on time, stock windshield was incredibly thin and cracked from anything, backup cam became too dim to see, burned through headlights like a mf. I don't buy Toyotas anymore, not sure why the reliability meme persists when that was their 2000 and prior vehicles. I inherited a '99 4runner from my dad and it had zero issues at 290k miles. The only thing was the exhaust stunk because Mexicans stole the cat and we didn't replace it with OEM. It still pumped exhaust into the interior though which made me wonder if they all do that and you just can't smell it because the cat converts it.>>27634627All their hybrids have CVT, they're cucking... they've been cucking. Get a Mazda, they seem to be the only Jap brand not cucking to thr CVT menace.
>>27635057The eCVT isn't a real CVT either.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O61WihMRdjM
>>27634083F1 is just so fucked. It's not been about creating the best you can for a long time.
>>27634083After driving my 13 Honda Accord CVT for almost 12 years I prefer it over the traditional automatics now.The engine doesn't shake going through gears so I've never had to replace the motor mounts even after 240k miles, still runs like the day I bought it.
>>27633353I want that same color and trim
>>27633353That's not the Tesla Model Y.
>>27634173Mazda has never put a CVT in anything except the Tribute Hybrid which was a ford
the reason it's the best selling car is because it's best car in the world right now money can buy
>>27635693No, that's the Model Y.
>>27633353whenever I think about maybe ending up driving a toyota suv I get a sudden urge to suicide. Hondas too, but less so. I can just not imagine something worse.
>>27635057>All their hybrids have CVTIt's not a belt driven CVT, it's a planar gear setup.
>>27636111What's the resale value like for the model Y?
>>27633741>>27634135do CVTs still have fake shift points because susan is too retarded to learn how a CVT works
just get a sportage like a normal white man
>>27637296I haven't forgotten about pearl harbor, but still find it hard to believe people actually buy Korean cars
>>27639197Were you alive during Pearl Harbor? Or are you larping your grandfathers' opinions like the rest of us?
>>27639197German engineers designed those Korean cars. They are more German than VW
>>27639207My great uncle had to sit and rot in a jap prison camp during half the war so I haven't forgotten about those uppity nips, but I feel like they got their due to an extent, what with Mazda's home town having a nuclear weapon detonated on it (1 of only 2 ever used (so far) in the history of war. >>27639225Honestly the krauts are worse because they know what they did was wrong but pretended like didn't.
>>27633353Worth it's MSRP, I would say so. Worth it's selling price? Fuck no
>>27633375Man, I love that chubby, round, fisher price look.
>>27633353Toyotas are not worth the price. Mazdas are 98% as reliable but much better inside, outside and while driving.
>>27633353Yes, it is a NPC car.
>>27634135>Toyota CVTs are the best of the lot.Not anymore. They keep falling apart. I heard this from the Toyota mechanics.
>>27639791CVTs in theory could be fine but modern auto transmissions are made so marginally durable they all suck. Manualfags are increasingly better off IF you wrench and want to keep a vehicle long-term. IDGAF about memes, just maintenance because that's such an asspain and parts are expensive.
