What count as maintenance?
>>
>>27633576
It will vary inevitably from poster to poster so you get to decide. For me maintenance goes from regular oil change to clutch repairs, but excludes cost of taxes and insurance

The Bugatti Veyron's wheels are theoretically only 20 inches in diameter. Theoretically. Practically, however, they have been trimmed with specially Michelin Pilot Sport PAX tires designed for this car. The tires had to be dedicated. After all, in 2005 there was no such thing, that would be able to withstand speeds
exceeding 400 km/h. The potentially harsh operating conditions cause Michelin and Bugatti to recommend replacing a set of tires on average
every 18 months.

Regardless of whether the car is driven or parked in a garage.

40K USD for a set of new tires is quite a lot. Especially since the amount needs to be put out every 18 months. However, the bad news for the Veyron buyer does not end there. The reason? Bugatti in such a case also suggests buying new rims. These will be priced at 69K USD thousand for a set

Oil change in the Veyron? 25K USD
>>
>>27633523
My 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T has cost me approximately $3,500 to keep going for 116k miles. That's full synthetic oil changes every 5,000 miles, one set of tires, a transmission filter and flush at 75,000 miles, brake pads, one set of rotors, wiper blades, cabin filters, and one K&N intake with a filter I've kept up with since new.
>>
>>27635829
There's a guy in Vegas who owns an exotic car rental company. Also owns a Veyron.

His team does all the maintenance on it, an oil change on a Veyron is nothing out of the ordinary for a supercar. He also has a bunch of aftermarket wheels options for it, installing tires for it is also nothing out of the ordinary.

$40K for tires and $25K for an oil change is just dealer price gouging taken to the extreme as they know most of their buyers are billionaires who won't give a shit about a $70K maintenance bill every couple years when they probably pay $100K a month on their yachts staff.
>>
>>27633616
Is Motorcraft even worth it for consumables anymore? I'm probably gonna do full brakes on the T'bird I picked up after finish refreshing the suspension.
>>
>>27635843
No suspension maintenance? Control arms? Bushings?
Damn that boat probably has the handling of a cruise ship now.

The total cost of all 4,541 oem spare parts required to build a Volvo XC40 is six times the price of a car.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a new car where that's not the case though. Spare parts are marked up to reflect the cost of storage and manufacture given that they're not sourced for a car immediately.
>>
The only thing that truly worries me about the SL550 with the active body control is the much-maligned-about full suspension replacement which can reach about $10,000.

Even rebuilding the engine (or just buying a new one) doesn't cost that much.
>>
>>27635920
Lemme guess, strut is fine, actuator goes bad...but they won't sell the actuator separately.
>>
>>27635913
I doubt 2m2 square of warehouse room costs 6x the price of the car sitting in it. Marking up for massive profit I do get, that'd be really logical.
>>
>>27635862
Absolutely not, its low-mid tier trash at high tier price
>>
>>27635940
We really need affordable metal alloy 3d printers. Free and open source cars is the future
>>
>>27635945
>2m2 square
Have you ever bought new spare parts? They come in boxes.
>>
>>27635864
Still drives like it did new. It's an R/T that's used as a commuter. The suspension isn't getting a workout. Bushings and ball joints are all fine. Shocks are starting to sag, though, so those will be getting replaced relatively soon. Turns out, if you take care of you car and don't abuse it, they last a long time.
>>
>>27635959
Well I haven't seen spherical boxes yet, usually they just occupy m2
>>
>>27635843
>75k tranny interval
Lol. Have fun replacing it soon
>>
>>27635966
I mean that you need very few boxes to occupy two square meters, in other words, you can fit very few parts into such a small storage area. Especially if dealing with interior trim or exterior body parts.
>>
>>27635949
Good to know, guess I'll stick with power stop or raybestos or whatever cockauto has that isn't blatant garbage.
>>
>>27635967
Gay fuddlore.
>>
>>27635940
More like
>strut goes bad
>okay strut + shock is $1,500 but now the seals are bad
>okay now the whole thing is sinkinh
>and a couple sensors are bad too, and uh, they're behind the wheels (because they wouldn't work otherwise) so that's mostly labor costs

On the other hand my Uncle has been rolling the same S-class since 2005 and has only ever done regular servicing on it and it still runs, and it has an even finnickier ABC system than mine, so you know, maybe I'll get lucky.
>>
>>27636035
Lol, might as well just put bags on it at that point or go non adjustable.
>>
>>27635986
>t. low time preference dodge owner
The engine will blow up around the same time too due to the Kikes&Niggers filter letting in sand and dirt
>>
>>27636052
Bags maybe, putting coilovers on it feels like ruining the whole point of having a near 4,000lb boaty "sports" car. If it does happen, there's still a second chance at luck in that it doesn't fail all soon enough that I can't save the money for it.
>>
>>27635949
That's because you're a disgusting metrosexual faggot niggerbeaner who just buys whatever the cheapest shit they can find at Advance Auto Parts is. Shove your shitty slope parts up your closeted faggot ass hole.

There's a difference between posting your information and posting your car. Not posting your car is why this board is half fucking dead and full of busriders posting from their phones.

They fleeced that guy, brakes on the one that I wrench on occasionally were """""only""""" $35k last time they were done.
>>
>>27636595
if its so expensive because of cutsom rotors, couldnt you just have some local machine shop make them for far less than $35k?
>>
>>27636598
They're carbon rotors, but it's not the rotors that make the bulk of the expense. It's the special lift. The rotors can be had for about 3k a piece.
>>
>>27636603
oh had no idea. What is the special lift?
>>
>>27636598
Yeah, that's actually what we ended up doing to the one in that pic after the last factory brake job. The owner doesn't drive it hard (because of course he doesnt), so we ditched the ceramics and went for normal steel brakes.
Turned the rotors in house and had another company bond some traditional brake pads for it. I think the whole deal came out to like $10k iirc.

The hard part is actually lifting the car. It's got threaded bosses at each traditional lifting point and the car has to be literally bolted down to the lift arms to keep it from twisting. If you just lift the car normally, or use a floor jack, you can split the chassis and total the damn thing. The dealership has a special lift, but I ended up having to make special arms that slide into our lift to make it work. Those cars are cool, but they're extraordinarily retarded. I know the labor wasn't cheap kek.
>>
>>27636625
>If you just lift the car normally, or use a floor jack, you can split the chassis and total the damn thing.
lmao! Thats beyond ridiculous
>>

>>
>>27635887
good thing volvo buys in bulk hey
>>
>>27633553
To add to this just today:
>car hitches randomly
It sounds like old train tracks when it does.
>>
>>27636625
Oh wow, that's beyond retarded. Any technical reason as to why a car might be designed like that?
>>
>>27637686
It has something to do with the way the carbon fiber monocoque is built into the car. I don't know why it's like that, since other CF cars like the 4C don't seem to have that issue.
>>27637640
Yeah, and it is under driving loads. Not sure why it's so fragile otherwise. The only way to get it off the ground without the special lift is to have two people with floor jacks synchronize lift on each side, and if you fuck up, the car is done. So if you get a flat, you're fucked. Mega retarded.

beat bet would be to modify the existing setup for something off the shelf.
I know some guys that race McLaren's, and use modified iron rotors in place of the carbon the ceramic rotors.
