The '96+ has a new front subframe with different suspension geometry and an upgraded steering rack so they drive/handle better. As far as power goes a H/C/I 4.6 and 5.0 make similar power, although it's a bit cheaper to mod the 302, it's an $800 difference between twisted wedge top end kits for the 281 vs 302. Or you can just do a PI head/intake swap onto the old 2V block, gain compression and make similar/more power than an Explorer GT40 head/intake swap on the old 302. >>27636355Comfy croozer. Stock they’reshit in comparison, and when you throw money at them they give you much less than a LT/LS1 will. Still a good car. The 4.6 mustang gts are like classic I6 mustangs compared to a 350 Chevy. They’re slower but solid, cheap to buy and own. Just don’t try to red light race it.
