> see this

Ok, that answers that question. Also, I thought my driver's side lock was messed up because it wouldn't physically lock from the inside (the button itself won't depress all the way), the only way I could lock it was by using the key from the outside. Turns out Honda added a "hey retard, don't lock your keys in the car" feature and the driver's side door will only lock when the door is open if you are holding the outside handle open. The lock only goes down halfway when I use the power lock button though, so there's still something wrong inside. Still, that was good to learn.

It's looks awesome to see one of these preserved but sad to see a CM not live life, also someone paid basically $45,000 to put barely any miles on this car, you won't even get that on bringatrailer because a 2008 manual V6 coupe with new miles on it went for $22,000

usdm non-vtec engines are somewhat plentiful, not hard to find. usually not in great shape though. they've been used and abused over the years. your best bet is rebuilding a CRV B20.
vtec engines are expensive as shit.
Integra LS transmissions are easy to find.
Anything better and you'll be paying and you'll probably have to rebuild it too.
K-series is even more expensive tho so if you're really trying to save money you can enjoy the sloppy seconds.
>>
>>27790216
>K-series is even more expensive tho
you can get a running k24a2 for $600 or even less if you're lucky at the u-pull
you can get a k24a4 for $200 at the u-pull. detuned k24a2 with tall pistons that stop you from running big (i.e. stock k24a2) cams stock
yes they're probably beat to shit but sometimes you can find a grandma car that was totalled out in a wreck
>>
>>27790649
yea but now find me a transmission that isn't automatic, an ECU, all the wiring I need. Don't forget the shifter cables and whatever stuff is needed to get that set up in a car that was made for shift rods.
You'll also need to get motor mounts, probably do some modifications to your car to make them work.
There's a lot of extra shit that goes into putting a K-series in an old chassis that you can skip with B-series, making it cheaper overall. You can generally re-use your wiring harness.
Automatics were getting very popular around this time so if you want manual you have to go hunting for Acuras.
>>
>>27788480
>or are you just that stubborn a B16 enjoyer?
Yeah, I had a B16a with the hydro transmission off the b18c and a precision sc34 turbo. Did 345whp on dyno at speed factory. Pistons/rods, cams, etc. Pretty much fully built. Was an absolute thrill to drive. Would love to a B swap CRX. So expensive now though. I did this when prices were at rock bottom.
>>
>>27790659
>yea but now find me a transmission that isn't automatic
yeah those are all disgustingly expensive. the 5spd automatics have tuning potential though, don't discount them. they can probably take like 250ft*lb if they're shifted correctly. its just aftermarket TCUs for them aren't a thing.
>an ECU
speeduino all day, or a hondata'd TSX ECU.
>Don't forget the shifter cables and whatever stuff is needed to get that set up in a car that was made for shift rods.
cheep, you can get that shit anywhere. just look before you leap, measure before you buy the cables.
>You'll also need to get motor mounts
$500 for the common K-swap victims
>if you want manual you have to go hunting for Acuras
>implying TSX 6spd
Those are hens teeth, and highly sought after. $1200 ez. Best bet would be finding a wrecked 5spd CM and pulling the trans, or getting a Si trans and doing some internal swapperoo-fuckery.

This is just depressing, man, i don't like to think about K manual transmission availability.
>>
>>27790673
Lel fuck manuals, who needs direct drive when you've got a big fat ass K24? Lock that piece of shit in 2nd gear and send it on the touge
>>
>>27790683
if someone would make a god damn fucking TCU for those things you could force it into lockup in 2nd-5th and have basically an auto-manual. It's more than capable of shifting under lockup
>>
>>27790673
>hondata TSX ECU
hondata is mad expensive, we both know that
B-swap? PR4 for OBD0, P75 for OBD1. Need tuning? Solder the socket in, buy a $30 chip burner, and use CROME.
>motor mounts that cost twice as much as the junkyard engine
or you can get some mexican's old hasport mounts from his wrecked civic for $40 off facebook marketplace
>transmissions
yeah B-series transmissions are so easy to find. cable or hydro. recently i needed an LS cable, found a local junkyard that had a DA Integra (wild that they had one), and they pulled the trans for $300 and it shifted like new.
Recently got a 89 CRX SiR cable trans for $700, needed a rebuild, but that was done and now it's good.
See, K-swaps are just nonsense unless you're made of money. But, if you're making that kind of money (conventionally, at a job):
- The swap takes two years to complete
- You never finish it because life gets you
- You say fuck it, sell the project, and just drive a stock car

>>
>>27792470
>b swap awd from wagon rt4wd
you could always hack a K-series CR-V AWD tranny in, a B-series AWD transmission probably costs an arm and a fuckin kidney these days.
>>
>>27792877
cont
you could probably get away with a wagon rear diff if you welded up a custom driveshaft
>>
>>27792877
K series tranny wont go to a b series block. B and k face differently iirc. You can awd k series utilizing crv setup, however, its not full time awd, same with b series crv. If it overheats, the cars revert to fwd. The wagovan was the only one with rt4wd/subaru style always split. Id drop good money for fulltime awd b series sedan.

My power goals b and k are quite modest, so i doubt id kill the crv transfer case enough to cut awd, but regardless, id rather keep the fwd setup for that.

Was just out working on my fiancees foxbody. I might steal her extra wheels for the civic. She kind wants to steal the civic though.
>>
>>27792470
For what it's worth, there are new aftermarket production Wagovan rear diffs.
>>27792924
There are improved clutch packs for the CR-V differential that help with the lockup as well as driveshaft viscous couplers based on the Freelander's which also eliminates the dual pump system.

Hmmm, i'm gonna have to research this. My k series power goals end around 250whp, 200 wtq NA. If thats not enough to break it then maybe i will awd the k series.

Ive been able to find complete sets of drive shaft, axles, transfer case/diff, hubs, etc for 2-3k. Its that transmission thats difficult to find apparently for the wagovan. Ill do more research on the crv options.

That's so bullshit you need a notary to transfer a car, but at the same time, it prevents people from scumming it and title hopping, here in California if you don't release liability from yourself in some way, or make the buyer sign their name as the buyer on the title, they can then flip the car under your name, possibly abuse the "gift" option to cheat taxes, etc, so it kinda has to be.

Will post back as progress goes on. Im trying to source some integra sedan confetti seats, and i'll be ripping up the carpet and headliner, putting some new, light weight sound deadening in and new carpet, and either try to find a jdm black interior set, or paint mine and coat in enamel or something.

Have energy suspension bushings, ekk2 mount kit (buy the $100 ebay kits, or if worried the $200 jackspania, the ktuned/etc $500+ ones are the same, its all billet.), tein lowering springs (1.3 front, 1.1 rear) and some truhart shocks ready to be ordered as well. Considering rsx-s and civic were both free, block for k20a2 cost me all of $250, and all the parts for swap, suspension, eg subframe, + paying my buddy is under $2k, i feel like this is well worth it.

Im gonna try to find some rattle cans of the correct oem color, and some oem honda lighter color, and i'll paint the bay as a test run with the other color, before decising whether or not to respray the car by hand. Prep work is biggest factor, and a rattle can will look way better than maaco if done right. I'll peobably sand down any underbody surface rust and coat in lanolyn or non porous epoxy

My dad was going to get rid of his 06 Accord V6 sedan, but I've decided to buy it from him as a daily. It will keep the miles off my FK8.

It has 200k on the clock. The slushbox shifts roughly, but it hasn't blown up yet. The timing belt and water pump were replaced some time ago, I don't think its due for a new one yet. Thermostat was replaced ~2 years ago. Brakes + fluids were done on all four corners earlier this year. Motor mounts were replaced too. It's also gone through the valve adjustment service too.

If I want to take this to 300k, should I budget for a transmission replacement? There seems to be a slow leak from the rear main seal, although I can't confirm. If I replace the shocks on all four corners, are there other pieces that I should also replace? I know most anons would tell me to scrap this car, but this has been in my family since it was new. It has sentimental value to me.
>>
>>27794495
after you bleed the brakes go take it on a gravel road, lock up the brakes, go back and bleed them again. should firm them up. was your pedal always this squishy or did something happen that warranted bleeding the brakes?
>>27797794
>transmission
the transmissions paired to V6's during this era for Honda were very weak. Check the color of the ATF using the dipstick. If it's black, it might be about time to replace the transmission, if it's brown, it may be serviceable.
You can go to Honda and get around 12 quarts of DW-1 ATF and do 3 drain-and-fills, each with a 10-30min drive in between and see if the condition improves. As long as your symptoms remain a harsh shift and there is no slipping or flaring occurring, this should help a ton. Watch the tachometer next time you drive. Take special note in gears 2 and 3 as these are typically the problematic ones. Listen carefully in 2nd to make sure the 2nd gear bearing isn't noisy under load. These are automated manual transmissions, so they fail differently than a conventional automatic.
>Rear main seal
I've seen it on J-series engines. Slightly wet with oil between the transmission and engine? I don't think it's much to worry about. I've never seen it progress beyond weeping. Check your PCV system.
>Suspension
along with your shocks, you should consider ball joints (upper and lower) and check the big trailing arm bushing in the back. On RockAuto, you may be able to find new lower and upper front control arms with new bushings and ball joints already installed. This is always a good value and an easy swap.
>>
>>27797794
Based CM acquisition, I would just run it until it won't go anymore, if it needs suspension do it, if it needs anything re-sealed do it, CM is a forever car if you're willing to go the distance.

/hg/ bros. I need confirmation of my theory.

2018 fk8 just hit 92k miles. Last month or so I've had 3 plugs in cyl 3 go bad. Will be fine then suddenly starts misfiring under WOT/Boost. As soon as I replace the plug its fine again for a week or so. Moved coils around and it stays at cyl 3. I've noticed when it happens my LT fuel trims go Hella negative. Like -6 to -10. Coolant levels are fine, oil is good, no smoking whatsoever. I'm assuming it's a bad injector. Thoughts? Is this the excuse I need to upgrade the fuel system?

Touching brakes makes my schizo brain activate and immediately forget how they felt before. They probably feel the same but because I messed with them I think they fell like shit. It probably doesn't help that if I'm driving to work I have shoes on, but any other time I won't, so it changes the amount of leverage on the pedal due to heal position.
It had a long term brake leak, someone else replaced two calipers, but that was probably a year ago. I did pads and rotors so I bled them.
>>
>>27797975
Transmission was redone in the 06 my, the 03-05 v6 are much worse. >>27797794
Might want to check the usual suspension components aside from struts, control arms, inner/outer tie rods as well. If you do all of these at once, you can get an alignment right after. The power steering might leak and make some noise/when when cold, you can buy a gasket kit and rebuild the ps pump if that’s a problem. Bear in mind that the pump is not the same as the i4 models. Finally, if the struts aren’t leaking, don’t touch the suspension- it’s too much money to put into and old car. I have an 07 v6 piece of shit as well, and I regret doing all of the suspension work- it’s simply not worth it, even with parts from rock auto. Simply fluids/timing is enough imo.

>>
>>27799798
yea messing with a car's brakes also does this to me.
as long as the master never went dry it's probably just your imagination, otherwise you can try bleeding the master. I find that I have to bleed all four and go for a drive in between like 2-3 times to get the right pedal feel. You can also try getting a hand vacuum pump and connecting it to your bleeder setup.
>>27799870
doing loaded control arms and loaded struts isn't a big hassle. New balanced tires and an alignment are also easy and make a big difference in ride quality.
I wouldn't mess with pressing old bushings out of things unless it's really bad. usually the trailing arm bushings are the first to make a racket, but I'm sure the new Accord owner is at least a decade out from that. My 1991 Integra finally needed a pair last year.
>>
>>27800318
I was just saying that parts are expensive compared to the worth of the car. I bought aftermarket control arms/struts/sway bar links/tie rods, and it was just shy of 1k for a negligible differencesl in ride quality. I imagine that with decent tires, I will have spent more money than what my insurance would give me for a collision. I learned this is important the hard way after fixing an Avalon and sliding it into a rock. I agree that suspension work isn’t bad, but most people don’t have the combination of time/space/money to fix these old shitboxes.
>>
>>27800514
quit considering the value of the car into your decisions on whether you're going to maintain it or not. If you keep receipts around you can haggle your insurance for more. keeping your suspension together will help you avoid collisions and avoid losing control of your car.
The market price of your car might only be $1K, and the cost of some parts that it needs might be $500. "Oh, that's half the value of the whole car". It's still more worth it to buy the parts for the car you have than to go buy another car. At the end of the day, the car is a car and the value of it vs repairs doesn't matter when they get into the sub-1Ks. It's just the cost of maintaining the car and as long as it doesn't exceed a monthly car payment over the course of a year, it's fine.
Now if we were talking about buying an $8K engine for a BMW worth $5K in its current state, maybe you'd junk it if you learned that it'd only be a $9K BMW after the repair.
I hope you see where I'm coming from. The point is that you (probably) need a car in the first place, you might as well maintain the one you have instead of letting it fall apart.
>>
>>27800559
Yeah, I see what you’re saying, but there are almost no sub 1k repairs anymore if you go to a mechanic. And if you do it yourself- you save money on the mechanic, but you use your time. I’m no longer ultra poor so I value my time as well. Of course it’s worth maintaining the car, but how much maintenance you do is up to you. As I wrote earlier, changing the belt and water pump is necessary for the car to run and do its job, whereas struts might be something to put off, in my opinion. I think most people who have a rough shifting on a 17yo car with 200k shouldn’t replace suspension parts like struts or motor mounts. It’s not a controversial opinion, drive it till the wheels fall off!
>>
>>27800915
If you're wealthy enough to be taking your car to a mechanic you ought to be driving either a new car or some low-mileage old car that you really like. Not a shitty Honda Accord with a bad transmission. Cheap repairs are possible if you have the time and tools to spare, and if you're driving a shitbox I'd assume you'd be willing to do some work on it.
If he does the 3x drain-and-fills on the transmission and it still shifts like shit, yeah I'd say fuck it and drive it till it doesn't and do nothing but oil changes. If he realllly likes the Accord he can save for a new tranny, but I imagine he'd just get a different car when it's time. Most "harsh shifting" complaints I've seen have been resolved with new DW-1. I had one instance of an Accord with harsh torque converter lockup, and lockup converter clutch slip (+/- 100rpm) at low throttle input at 50-60mph, but the car has kept on going for tens of thousands of miles, so it's still getting the full treatment. When a transmission is actually failing, it will display way more symptoms (for Hondas, they usually violently flare between shifts)

I'm pretty frustrated right now. I thought my car's AC was fixed after I changed the schrader valves (this is where I thought the leak was coming from) and recharged the system. It was blowing ice-cold air for like a month straight then I got in my car today (which was hot af) and it was blowing hot air!

Compressor clicks on, fuses are fine, the fan turns on as expected, etc. But for some reason it went to shit overnight. I don't have $180-220 to get it diagnosed and find the leak (that's what I was quoted) and God knows how much more to actually get it fixed. Time to put it up for sale I think.

Probably has a leaky o-ring or your TXV suddenly got blocked. Since the compressor still turns on, it still has a slight charge. UV dye helps finding leaks.

If you're anywhere near Toronto I can give you a good deal on it. It's a 2014 LX 4-door, ~142,000 km, basically no rust. I have test drive scheduled for the 26th for a Golf R, might trade it in that day if I don't find a buyer.
>>

>2014 LX 4-door
+ Civic
>>
>>27808812
Sucks. I'm in the USA. Golf R is a fun car though, you might like that.
Side note for your A/C though, make sure the compressor clutch is actually spinning when it's commanded on. On those older civics I saw that the compressor clutch air gap would go out of tolerance and the car would idle up and act like the A/C is on and touching the clutch with the end of a wrench would get it to engage. You can fix this by sticking shims into the clutch or buying a new clutch.
>>
>>27808832
Thanks, I'll try that. It does seem to spin and the RPMs react accordingly when it clicks on/off but I'll check this tomorrow anyway.

I did the UV dye test but I didn't find any leaks. I changed the schrader valves because I heard a feint hiss when I took the cap off the high pressure valve but that didn't resolve it. I tried.
>>
>>27808887
Just make sure the face of the compressor is actually spinning. If it's clicking on and off rapidly (short cycling), it's just low on refrigerant or there is a blockage resulting in loss of refrigerant flow on the suction side of the system.
If whoever charged it didn't put dye in it, you won't find a leak. Make sure they actually put dye in it.
You can also check the evaporator drain hose for UV dye as this will indicate a leaking evaporator core.

The cylinder closest to the distributor is oddly clean and wet, but the spark plug well doesn't really have any oil in it. With that extra oil in that o-ring, I can't help but wonder what it's for.
>>
>>27813520
Why should you ever change spark plugs if there’s no problems
>>
>>27813692
You do it so you don't have problems Anon, it's not good to dump unburnt fuel into your catalytic converter because you've been neglecting your ignition coils and spark plugs and not something's not firing correctly, same with tires or a timing belt if your car's got one, you don't want to neglect your tires to the point where you've smashed into the back of someone because it rained and you can't stop, or you neglected your timing belt interval to the point where you've stranded yourself or destroyed the engine.
>>
>>27813708
Timing belt is very similar, with the exception that misfires don’t brick the valve train. If it burns rich- well that’s what sensors are for, we aren’t in thestone age nymore.

piece of shit EG civic D15B7 finally wants to tell me about its leaky head gasket today. i always knew something was up with the cooling system, I just couldn't put my finger on what it was because of how intermittent it was. I really don't have the time for this but whatever. I hope it can make it back to home base.
It started out as only pushing exhaust into the coolant under high load and the temp gauge would move under those conditions, but block test liquid would never turn yellow at idle.
now it's clearly bubbling at idle, foaming at 3K rpm, and it smells like exhaust in the radiator, immediately builds pressure when you put the cap on.
Luckily head gaskets are easy as pie on these. It's just finding the time to go to the machine shop that will be challenging, and it'll have to occupy the garage for like a whole week waiting for that head.

If she only needs fronts, get front pads and rotors, if you can front just a Z26 kit with pads and rotors only for the front, that'd give you a performance part that fits on like a regular part, but there is absolutely no shame in good old Duralast Gold ceramic brake pads and two regular steel rotors, I have them on my Accord right now and they're fine, it's cheaper than the expensive shit a shop would charge you for.

I'm back with more dirt cheap TSX updates. It hasn't quit on me yet but I did have clutch master/slave issues so I went ahead and bit the bullet on the Hybrid Racing master/slave with stainless line package. It also deletes the delay valve. 10/10 would recommend. The pedal feels 10x better and no more issues getting it into gear. Changing it was a bitch, though. It's VERY tight in that bay in those areas.

Also got an idea of how much oil the 250k engine loses. Unfortunately its about a quart in 700 miles. I went ahead and ordered a new PCV along with a rear wheel bearing. Finally checked that while getting new lug nuts and the rear passenger is crusty. Hopefully the PCV helps with the oil loss. If any K24 homies had a similar issue lemme know.

You'd be surprised how much oil a K24 can leak out of it's seals just from age and cause a low oil level situation, and there's like 6 places it can be leaking, back when I had a valve cover leak and a VTC strainer leak going, a service advisor once told me it was low from all the leaking.

I'm back and forth on whether I wanna do the whole timing chain swap and reseal the timing cover or not. Whole different kind of job vs a timing belt on a D or B series. Also parts alone are expensive but it's one and done.
>>
>>27820401
K24A timing chain pretty much lasts the life of the car unless the thing is somehow so neglected that it's throwing a check engine light for timing issues, I would just reseal the stuff that's obviously leaking, have a PCV valve that is not a million years old and gunked up (god damn CM Accord evaporates it's oil faster than a Prelude drinks it when the PCV sticks from all the crankcase pressure), and you'll be fine, I've been checking my CM oil every month and it really never moves with all my hard driving around town, that's why maintenence of the PCV valve should be listed as a maintenance item like spark plugs, because we are gonna lose a lot of K24A Hondas and Acuras due to people running it out of oil and spinning a bearing.

Yeah that's a huge reason why same era Camrys and second gen Scion xBs die is because the 2AZ-FE consumes oil out the factory. I remember my roommate sending me a pic of the oil light on with the engine idling because she NEVER checks the oil. Luckily didn't hurt anything.

I do have the half second VTC rattle on cold starts but VTEC hits hard at 6000RPM and I don't hear any odd noises from the engine at all. I'd bet the chain is still dead on if I check the timing.
>>
>>27820425
>I'd bet the chain is still dead on if I check the timing.
It is likely 100% perfect, it's amazing when I go to LKQ to look at clapped the fuck out junk CMs with their valve covers removed, and the timing chain will be so god damn tight and perfect that I can't believe it, but that VTC rattle doesn't hurt anything, my unlcle had the VTC rattle on his 2014 Accord, and it never hurt anything, he had the VTC phaser or whatever replaced and it never rattled again, it's not a chain issues despite the fact that it sounds like a chain slapping against something.
>>
>>27820432
Yeah main reason why I'm putting it on a lower priority. The seats I need to do soon because it looks like a bear attacked it.

My buddy in New Orleans has two turbo K series cars (TSX and EK hatch AWD) and said the VTC isn't too much of a concern and I can just inspect the chain while I swap it eventually.
>>
>>27820441
I'm seriously shocked my shitty ass CM doesn't VTC rattle after 20 years, vid rel was this morning, meanwhile a 9th gen civic Si would VTC rattle it's K24Z7 on a really cold morning when the car was basically brand new

https://files.catbox.moe/9udpl2.mp4
>>
>>27820449
Mine was pretty bad with the oil I bought the car with but as soon as I changed it the rattle was half as long. No codes relating to it at all either which is nice.

I still got the EG sitting nearby but the TSX AC is so damn cold that I rather pay the extra 9 or 10 cents a mile driving that just to keep cooler from this 100 degree southern weather.
>>
>>27820456
>TSX AC is so damn cold
Based, the CL/CM cars have such crisp A/C when everything's working, but yeah if you don't have any codes saying the chain is stretched, (rare) then you're golden, there's a 2.5L Camry and 8th gen Accord in my apartment area that rattle when cold and those people never have issues, it's just a thing Jap cars with timing chain engines like to do.

The Integra is holding a charge of refrigerant after its previous owner deleted the A/C. I got a new parallel flow condenser and a new Denso compressor for it. Had the manifold from the old locked up compressor. Had to make some hard lines from an EF civic fit between the evaporator and compressor. It's a little ghetto but appears to be working good.
I've also put a new oil pump on (addressing a leak), new pan gasket, new power steering pressure hose, and I'm finishing up with a valve adjustment and checking ignition timing.
Wish the under hood wasn't so ghetto and messy. Feel like the wire harness wasn't routed properly. I've also had to make wiring modifications on a whim due to relocated O2 sensor and fan temperature switch. The last owner lost a bunch of parts including the radiator mount brackets. I wish I could spend more time on it and I wish I had a parts car. I paid $60 for a fucking hood prop rod on ebay... I got tired of using a 2x4 to check the oil.
Car runs fantastic though. It's reliable. It's had a fresh paint job some years ago. It's pretty everywhere except under the fucking hood.

The new compressor included 3 ounces of oil so I added in I think 4 or 5 ounces? I used another video where i let the refrigerant fill line on the manifold gauge suck in the oil into the hot side of the gauge while the vacuum pump is running. Then I started the car, cranked the AC up, then dunked R134 cans in until it got cold. It's been icy ever since. Gulf Coast heat doesn't even phase me anymore.

If your compressor indeed explode, you probably have debris from it in your lines and it wouldn't cost much to replace both the high and low pressure lines. Could always take a chance, though. It does suck to attach the new lines to the firewall connection.

I got to tearing down the D15B7 for the head gasket. Looks like someone's been here before. If only they machined the head instead of scratching it up with an abrasive, maybe I wouldn't have to be doing this. They even spent money on new head bolts and an MLS gasket, I don't know why they skipped the machine shop. Whatever.
Another issue is that the crank pulley bolt is fucking stuck on good. It's stuck on so good that the crank pulley BROKE IN HALF, and also I broke 2 sockets. See pic rel. I can't use my special honda crank pulley holder tool because D15B7 crankshaft pulleys don't have the big hex in the middle.

>shift back to P
>stop the engine
>check the ATF dipstick within 1 minute
it should be in between the two marks when cold and at the top line when warm.

>If your compressor indeed explode, you probably have debris from it in your line
meh. i'll blow the system out with compressed air when i have it discharged (compressor ate shit but the system still holds charge LoL) and pray. Maybe disassemble the compressor to ascertain how much metal migrated from the compressor pistons to the system.

Thanks for the info, you're saving me a ton of future headache. I'm a certified goldfish brain retard who can't think for himself so this is very helpful.

Ok, replaced condenser and put in Freon. There was no pressure when I checked it before the repair. Removing the condenser is fairly straightforward: remove the coolant reservoir and the passenger side fan. I also took off the front bumper cover to unplug the lines and the pressure switch. The lines were stuck on pretty good, I had to wiggle for a while to get them loose. You can then lift/push back the radiator to get the condenser out the top. It will be a tight fit. I think that you can get it out the bottom if the bumper’s off. Putting in Freon was a bitch because I didn’t figure out that the suction line isn’t symmetric about its ends, and the tap-line adapter is also directional. You can test if things are properly connected using the valve on the gauge above the yellow line. Otherwise, it was a pretty easy job, brake-tier difficulty. You don’t need to lift the car.

The fact no one with enough autism compiled every owned honda into one big photo, like the older OP images, is a shame.
I've gone through 5 Hondas in 16 years and all were in one of the collages at some point

iot straight up doesn't feel real. i have to keep staring at it to make sure

since may 1st when i brought the supercharger home, installed a lsd new clutch new rod bearings ported the oil pump, skunk2 pro1 cams and degreed them, deleted abs, rebuilt the supercharger, cleaned the kit and repainted the lettering and installed (sucked), installed a walbro 450 fuel pump, upgraded relayed fuel pump harness, new injectors rail regulator, k&n filter, fuel pressure gauge, drove it to the dyno with my own decent base tune and filled it with e85

People are laughing at this dude. Feel kind of bad for him but it's July 2024 how is he just noticing this and why would you buy a car without going underneath it for at least 20 seconds to see if rust is extensive?

I feel bad, but you need to be fucking looking at your shit when it comes to spending 12.5 grand and living in a state with known salt on the ground that rots the cars.

Got an oil change on the CL done today, guy said I have the wrong size drain plug and I'm leaking oil, I don't even know how that happens. Got an OEM one ordered but now I'm gonna have to change the oil again but I might as well change the oil pan & transmission fluid (230k miles) while I'm at it.

Bought a used fit 2016 with no service history and its currently at 100k miles, I have no clue what the condition of the fluid is in and the seller wasn't able to inform since he bought it from an auction. Vin doesnt pull any service history and unfortonately theres no dip stick for the transmission. Only way to check is by opening the drain valve and dumping a bit. Would it be a better idea to just perform a fluid replacement even though its not due on its service cycle or just wait till I reach 120k to stay consistent with the schedule. Ive driven the car for a few weeks so far and it feels and pulls fine but I still have that itch in the back of my mind.

Pardon tranny fluid

The Fit is a really based car for daily driving, but you have to get a transmission dipstick for it Anon, I'm sure nothing will get in there and get in the transmission, (dealer left my trans dipstick slightly out and I noticed it 2 months later) but you should still have a dipstick to check the level, have it changed unless you know if it was done less than 30,000 miles ago.

i don't like doing full fluid changes as the tcu doesn't always adapt to the new grip characteristics before glazing up the clutches, safest thing to do is a 50/50 change. measure how much oil you drain out, put half new and half of the old stuff back in, strain the old stuff through an old sock or something if it makes you feel better. if it's a torque converter auto and not a CVT you could also put a half bottle of lucas trans-fix in with a full new fluid change, i've had good results with that. my daily didn't slip or do anything weird beforehand but 3rd started being a little iffy after full fluid change, the lucas sent it back to normal though

some transmissions weren't designed for a dipstick in the first place, chrysler did that a lot in the late 2000s. dipstick is a separate service tool that isn't meant to stay in the hole and you need to read fluid temp from the tcm through a scanner to compare the level to a temp/height chart

Pardon me its an automatic cvt and apparently it comes without a dipstick from the factory for this year and model, theres no hole for it. Id likely be able to get the information with a reader if I can get a hold of one. Thanks for the information. This car has been a dream to drive and its impressive chassis rigidity makes for a nice car to whip around the city.
