>>27830033mine is closer to 55/45 source: i corner balanced it.
>>27830034There you go, thanks. These engines aren't really much to look at, are they? Just a bunch of tubes. Cool mods, though. My old boss had a heavily modded wrx like yours and it was insanely fast. He claimed it had 500hp, but what do I know? I know it felt fast.
>>27830048literally nothing cool to look at, especially mine with the stock location turbo and stock intake manifold. i’ve deleted lots of emissions related bullshit, the car definitely looks more modified from underneath but on the outside i made it look like a plain jane NA impreza. anything true 500whp and up on this platform is fast, on ethanol i’m probably at about 440-450whp but it’s never seen a dyno. open source street tuning all the way.
>>27830036Pain
>>27830064I respect the dedication to make it look stock on the outside, but is it really still an impreza? When does it go from a regular model with mods to just using that models chasis/body?I only put about 6k in mods in my WRX before it stopped being fun and I took it back to stock before selling it
>>27830166>is it really still an imprezai mean technically? i daily drove it at this spec for like 8 months before fixing up my daily (picrel) and it wasn’t too bad. i mean solid engine mounts, poly bushings, stiff clutch etc. makes for lots of NVH but i really don’t mind that. i just got tired of putting miles on an engine that cost more than what i bought the car for. the car is my track weapon now, i fire it up once a week to let it warm up and that’s it.
>>27830166nigga, it's a wrx with some tuner bolt ons, don't overthink this into some theseus ship nonsense.
>>27829955Measuring HP/L is a retarded metric only used by people trying to compensate for being slow. It's a balanced big block putting out enough power to the tire on pump gas that most people would kill themselves trying to drive it. We've been spinning it to redline for years without any issues, yes, it'll easily make more power, but I have no desire to run the risk of breaking parts since this thing is driven a lot. Redline alone is set 600rpm under what it's built for, throw 6 degrees of timing at it and some 110 octane and it's in the low 900's at the tire.
>>27830366HP/l is actually the most important metric for an engine because it is a comparable measure of volumetric efficiencyHP and TQ by themselves can be misleading, HP/L or TQ/L factually proves a given engines superiority over another.
>>27830388There's far more to an engine than strictly horsepower and torque and you'd know that if you weren't just a bench racer. Power over the useable RPM range is almost one of the most important factors depending on the use case of an engine, it doesn't matter if you make 800 horse if it's only at the top end or you carry no power in the low end to get up and moving.
>>27830388power/weight is more important. Who cares how efficient your engine is if it's an absolute boat anchor? It's the weight of the engine relative to how much power it makes that's relevant.
>>27830340>some tuner bolt onsi’ve literally turned every bolt on this car. lol
>>27830416and yet it will always be a WRX and also worth less than a normal one because of all the mods.
>>27830388false. my engine makes 200hp/L and is very inefficient compared to other 4 cylinders, especially inline 4s compared to my boxer.
>>27830419>worth lessthe only reason i’m getting rid of this car is if it gets totaled, in which case i’m buying another shell and swapping everything over. it’s a modified car that i race, not a financial investment. get real. VIN says impreza, it’s an impreza. car gaps vettes, maros, GTRs and GT3s on track, that’s what matters to me.
>>27830183do you drive it around to burn off moisture in the oil at least? because just running the engine without moving it will fuck it over in the long term
>>27830415>>27830421He's just a HP/L stroker and likely has a stock civic or bus pass anyways. >>27832433just make your own thread ffs
>>27830421see this is whats wrong with you wrenchlet retards, you hear "efficient" and you think "fuel economy" when instead they FE and VE are two different measures of how easily the machine can do its given work.it's VOLUMETRIC EFFIENCY not fuel efficiency that were talking about here, VE literally indicates that the combustion chamber of a given engine seals better and makes more power per ounce of fuel. because drag increase with the square of the speed you need a lot of fuel to maintain high speeds anyway, an engine that makes 200hp/l is not very fuel efficient but it is extremely volumetrically efficient and is better at its job (going fast) than something that is technically more fuel efficient like the drivetrain from a prius, which is designed to be extremely fuel efficient in a small low speed window and rapidly loses efficiency beyond that.hp/l says that a given engine makes more power per unit of combustible fuel/air mix which correlates directly with that engine's performance characteristics. engine that make similar power per liter perform similarly because they all rely on the same basic principles of operation and are constrained at the top end by the laws of physics.
>>27832462we've already explained to you that the overall weight of the engine compared to the HP it makes is the only meaningful metric.
>>27832458and you suck your own dick, then everyone will be happy right?
>>27832462nowhere in my reply was i talking about fuel economy you fuckhead. the SAME setup i have on my engine applied to an even SMALLER displacement inline 4 will make MORE power. what about that is hard for you to wrap your empty fucking skull around?
