Are you part of the car DIY 1%? Worth it to have your own lift?
Yes its worth it
>>27829217which iphone you got btw.
>>27829137Well worth it. Unfortunately my garage is too small .
>>27829217sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh
What’s the best lift for the money? Any semi-permanent ones out there?
>>27829137Post bread on hoood with timestamp and sharpie in bussy
>>27829649Kys fag
>>27829649i got the pic off google
>>27829137Every time time I use a friend's lift, it makes me wish I had one.it's so useful. So efficient. I could cut down my working time by like 25% just with a lift alone. My next house will definitely have a shop big/Tall enough for one
>>27829137I just work at a shop that lets me use their lifts for free on my days off
>>27829217Bro clean the floor
>>27830053The floor is stained like this. Its over 30 years old.I dont want to spend 3k for redoing the floor with epoxy.>plus getting all the stuff out to do the floor
I would if I had a garage big enough but unfortunately I don't feel like parking between a two post every single day. I am looking at getting a set of QuickJacks though.
>>27831043Get an in-ground lift. My shop has two in addition to the standard two post lifts, I like the in ground ones more.
>>27829217cozy
>>27829137My friend has one, I still have to grab a ticket to use it cause there's like 30 other people who need it for various work.
>>27831043I bought a set off marketplace for 900. Pretty comfy in my one car garage, and they go higher than a floor jack will let me go in my space so I can use a creeper and do stuff like drop a trans/engine or slide my downpipe out easily.Would recommend if you're tight on space, but probably not worth MSRP.
>>27831661>my shop has them>you should spend over double to get one in your home garage too!in grounds are really trick but it'd be moronic for any home owner to install an in-ground 2 post lift like that. First your have to do concrete demo, then dirt work, then extra thick concrete pours in the hole you dig, then you have a pneumatic thing to maintain. If your garage is big enough like OPs, a 2-post lift is sufficient for most hobbyists. Even if you have a lower ceiling, it makes most jobs much easier. If you can put in an 18' 2-post that is even better since you can park a car under it while the other car is being worked on and neglected for weeks at a time. Unless your vehicle is super heavy, a 2-post bendpak is likely good enough for 90% of people buying for home use. 4-posts are great but not as good for all repairs, they'll lift up much heavier vehicles however.
>>27831776Ok and? The original concern wasn't price, it was not wanting to park inside an above ground two post lift every day. Sorry the solution to that problem costs too much for you.
>>27829137If you like wrenching and have the space, get a lift. It makes anything to do with the lower half of the car so much easier it's not even funny.
>>27829137It's more of a question of can you afford the space to have one. Once you have that the lift is peanuts. It's one of my long term dreams to easily tackle any car issue.
>>27829137I don't do anywhere near enough wrenching to make having a lift worth it.
>>27829137No, I do have a press and welder though. So that puts me pretty far up there
>>27829137Yup
>>27831793Oh well shit if cost isn't a factor just build a massive garage with an in-ground track system that can lift large parts and the car and move both of them! Great idea!
>>27832013>in-ground track systemI've used those.nice option.But also 10x as expensive as a regular lift.
>>27829137yes though it's a luxury if you're a DIYer. nice if you have the space and can afford it but you can do almost everything without one, just with more, sometimes a lot more, hassle. i use mine more for car/extra storage more than anything else and still do a lot of my car work on the ground. i'm in the middle of suburbia and it was a struggle to find one that would make sense in my garage and fit. mine's shoehorned in there...
>bro just have a high ceiling, power and hydraulics>vs.>a fucking hole
>>27833333Get has spoken. Hole is the way
>>27829137what do if a friend asks to borrow your lift ?
>>27833333I kneel to the Hole
>>27833333digits check out. hole is the move
>>27829137My next garage will absolutely have a lift
>>27833333>digits I kneel to the knee breaker
>>27832566>But also 10x as expensive as a regular lift.Sorry the solution to that problem costs too much for you.
>>27829137I would settle for a garage for my motorcycles.
>>27833356Either tell him it's in use, or if it isn't tell him to bring beer and enjoy wrenching with fren.>>27833333Nice digits but that doesn't help much for tire rotations, engine swaps, suspension work, etc. great for doing light maintenance fast; I worked in one (two, really, constantly jumping between bays) doing oil changes for beer money while in college.>>27833460Based sketchy engine remover. Seeing shit like this is how I convinced my wife putting a two post in our home shop was a good move.
>>27833565How do I befriend someone with a lift? (as unlikable autist)
>>27833722Give them the ol lickaroo
>>27833722NTA but there are "DIY garages" in major metro areas where you can basically rent a space with a lift for the day and do repairs to your own car. Some garages even have full toolboxes to borrow tools while you're there. Thats if you really need to do some repairs and kinda know what you're doing otherwise you have to start a few steps back and start by making a friend. Alternatively, park on a street curb or over a drainage ditch and do the repairs thatway.
>>27829137>Built new house with garage specifically designed for a 10k lbs lift to be able to put my half ton truck on>Never bothered actually getting the lift>Sold my truck>Now run my screen printing business out of the garage insteadOne day I'll get a lift and put that extra thick slab and high ceiling to good use... One day
>>27833777how thick was the slab? thinking of pouring one in my yard. biggest thing we'd need to lift is a 1500 silverado
>>27833791I did it an inch over the requirements on bendpaks website for a 10k 2 post, I think it's 8" thick but I can't remember for certain. You can easily get away with doing footing pads of sufficient thickness where the lift will be and then just a normal thickness slab everywhere else, it'll save you a good bit of concrete.

>>27829137Considering how cheap they are now, absolutely yes, i wish a had place where to put it
