automobile design peaked in the 80s and 90s
>>
>>

I have a theory that the overall 80s mindset and design was peak, which is the reason why so much of today is inspired by it. Take synthwave music, utopian/dystopian movies being inspired by 80s imagery, or even Stranger Things being such an inspirational series to so many people.
I'm really curious what will be the next era, which will be imitated for decades to come.

90s was peak for normal vehicles

Only for German and Japanese cars. The 80’s and 90’s produced some of the ugliest Italian and American cars. And all cars from 2000-2015 are ugly.

great economy, cold war, nuclear anxiety, cocaine fuelled excess and maximalism led to a surplus of marketing material and propaganda passed off as culture and creativity which gets recycled year after year to get maximum ROI for production costs. and you keep falling for it.

>I'll post it again
cars SHOULD be boxy and spiky and square, but also have great visibility
if a pedestrian impales themselves on a hood ornament because they couldn't fucking look before they wandered across the parking lot it's THEIR fault and THEY should have to pay for staining YOUR car's hood.
>get rid of tall as fuck hoods, they're stupid and hard to see over
>get rid of soft soapbar fronts
>bring back popups, big bumpers, and hood ornaments
>get rid of 9-inch-thick A pillars you can't see shit with em
>integrate NON-INTERNET-CONNECTED dash cameras into the rearview mirror to catch stupid wigger zoomers commiting insurance fraud via stupidity

Yes, it was a very good time for cars. We didn't know how good we had it, or rather how much worse it would get...

probably, mine had problem with automatic gearbox up-shifting very roughly into second gear and the battery going flat over night when the cars parked up.
interior wear also, thin leather seats cracked up and the trip computer display flaking out a bit, only slight problems really.
I think the main problem is the expense and expertise of the repairs. good youtube channel showing common bmw repairs is M539 Restorations.

I'd say pretty well all cars before 2010 (yes, even 2000s bubbles), look nicer than cars now. Probably due to safety standards. All cars are practically required to adhere to specific shapes, so all manufacturers can do to make their car designs unique is to add random lines, curves, and headlight designs onto them.
>>
>>27832711
>>27833604
You've got this character archetype down to a tee
>>
Objectively, cars from the 90s are the best in terms of design and this is because there are many cars from this era with a design that is timeless today. There are many nice cars from the 60s, but you can tell that these are classic cars, cars from the 90s are just cars.
