developed a process of replacing the broken cable for my e brake for about $25 rather than toss and replace the whole assembly (handle and all) for $200+ as every guide on the Internet will tell you to do, because they're all from a decade ago when you could still get them used for cheap or brand new at the dealer.

when i put the fuel pump in the mustang i thought it was odd it didnt have a return line, and not even a regulator inside the tank. did some googling and its pwm controlled by the pcm. well fuck that narrows down the engines i can put in here without major modification. an explorer 5.0 or a 4.6. thinking about my decision now, it will have to be torn out for an ls swap later down the line. picked up car manifolds and dipstick tube though, didnt have time for the pan yesterday but i do need to go back and see if this 97 exploder is gt40 or 40p. place votes '87 5.0 continental manifolds line up with '01 3.8 y pipes

Got dam ford ranger doesn't fill up with fuel. It backs up almost instantly. No codes so don't think it's evap but tested the 2 solenoids anyways and they seems to work. Took the bed off and replaces the vent hose which I though was the problem. Made it a little better but still kind of shitty. What else could it be? Vapour canister? There looked like there was a valve on the fuel tank leading to the vapour canister but I couldn't get that sucker off to check it out and I didn't want to break it.

Gonna bump this thread with an ask for help…Blue quick connect going to the fuel sending unit is pissing out a little gas when the car is running and it stinks. Seems to be a 3/8” plastic coming off the fuel pump, and then into a 5/16” hose. Been searching half the day and haven’t found the exact fitting.

The problem is the male 3/8” part on the fuel sending unit is too long. The old black and blue connector is deeper on the female part. So with the new one, I can’t push it on the fuel sending part far enough for it to actually clip over the little rib.The closest I have found anywhere looks to be Dorman 800-969. Looks nearly the same as the old fitting, but it’s internet only and the barb for the fuel line is 3/8” instead of 5/16”.So I figure I have a few options. #1 is cut down the male part on the fuel sending unit so it seats 100% in the picrel quick connect I got today. But if it doesn’t seat correctly, I rekt the fuel sending unit. #2 is to order that 800-969, then a length of 3/8” hose, then get a 3/8” to 5/16” hose adapter, but that’s more potential leaky spots, assuming that 800-969 actually fits onto the sending unit.#3 is I say fuck it, get the 5/16” to 3/8” hose adapter, a short length of 3/8” hose, and force the hose over the male sending unit part and put a hose clamp on there with no quick connect.Any ideas? Spent $40 on picrel at VatoZone, deciding whether to return it or try #1.

I get issues with certain pumps clicking off on me instantly despite having perfectly functioning fuel systems in all of my rigs, but they're all 80's and older, some pumps flat out fucking will not work if i don't have a nozzle halfway out of the neck.
>>27832429You're already there, replace the sender. Check on Summit/Rock Auto/Oriellys and even FERD parts sites for your shitbox, which you didn't list so I can't search for you. If the specific nylon fitting and line is unobtanium or retardedly expensive, just fucking slap some 3/8" Gates EFI soft line on there with the good hose clamps or pinch clamps (the type you pinch with pliers made of stainless) and be done with it. The best fix would be going with push-lock fittings and line or adapting over to some AN bulkhead fittings and running new line.

Might be able to press the knuckle bushings with it still on there, find out tomorrow. Lower control arm bolts seem to be completely seized probably gonna have to cut em. I imagine the other side will be about the same. Hopefully the front is more freed up.

Replacement pumps 3 & 4 have the same symptom. Checked for folded over o ring, can blow through the filter, no voltage drop, the pumps do fuck all when you put them in a glass of baby oil and plug it in. How are mechanics shops even functioning with shit like this?

I replaced a ball joint yesterdayI’d replaced it a year or two ago and during my last oil change, or something, noticed it had several large cracks in the boot.I replaced it, but the old one was just as still as the new one I put in. Did I waste my time and I just should’ve left it until it started making noise? Pic related. Obviously on the car is was all squished up, but it was still obviously torn. And no, no destructive tools were ever used on it. In fact it was never separated from the LCA until I replaced it after noticing the damage (I used the press thingy, might have made the tear worse, but I don’t think so, there wasn’t any grease on it when I was done.)

Did a power steering return hose on my beater yesterday. Shit was all crusty and rusty, so I just cut both ends, ez. Now I get to put together a press I had to buy for all the bushings on my Thunderbird, cuz of course the spending never ends when working on old bullshit.
I found some extra gaudy wheel covers today. It goes well with the other tacky chrome stuff.
Deciding if I should repaint my whole car a non-Toyota stock color, since the paint on the left back quarter panel, the roof, and the hood are all sun damaged and wearing out. I could just do a 776 Green, but the paint is hard to find, whereas I could just pick a modern gunmetal and get it for cheap.
