We've started using some weirder ones since Holden shutdown. Highway Patrol in NSW and Vic use Chrysler 300 SRTs (discontinued for the US market but Australia kept getting them), BMW 5 series and Kia Stingers. Mustangs were planned too but the transmissions kept going limp in pursuit tests.

Mine has pretty cool ones. A 300c SRT highway patrol car at 470hp.But they also have a BMW 530d at 260hp which doesn't make much sense really. In fact it makes no sense when a 340i MSport is CHEAPER and much more powerful.
It's a nice color and I like that they still have the old flower pot-style lights

It's funny the NY state police is 5000+ sworn strong and I had no idea what their cars looked like, for comparison CHP(california highway patrol) (california's state police) has 10k+ and everyone and their mom knows what they look like.

Victoria is also using BMW X5s with the 3L inline 6, I see them constantly at police stations or sometimes pulling people over on the highway.I'm just glad we aren't being stuck with boring police cars like that brief period where they used Camry's a few years ago.

Different agencies also used different models from all of the Big Three and even AMC, and because cars got facelifts nearly every model year, there was never enough time to really build a cultural association with any one model. The idea of every police agency in the country using one single body style for 15+ years was unthinkable back then. At most, 60s-70s Plymouths had a bit of a reputation for being cop cars, but that's about it.
