Neither of those if you really care about performance or handling.
>>
>>27832988
not feasible in my euro shithole. also, it gets snowy as fuck over here, AWD is a nice plus
>>
>>27832985
The BMW is a luxury car that pretends it's a performance version
The Golf R is a commuter car that pretends it's a performance version.
Neither are performance cars, they're just frauds.
>>
>>27832993
If it gets snowy as fuck why are you looking at low cuckboxes with rubber band tires?
>>
>>27833007
I just want a sporty daily driver. Single no kids, but I’m very tall, so no Miata or GR86 or something like that.
The two cars in my picrel up there are bretty good fits
>>
>>27832985
>something older and more reliable without shitscreen spam
>>
>>27833028
but I like big screens
>>

Fuck track times, you will never race it.
Look at the interior and see which one actually looks good.
>>
>>27832988
>>27833124
I've only seen jeets drive these here in Chicago
>>
>>27832985
Both of those are USG as fuck. Just get an E92 or LCI E90 335i xdrive already.
>>
>>27832985
>>
>>27833187
>you will never race it
I live next to a race track besically lol
>>
>>27832985
They're basically the same. Just go with which one's interior you prefer
>>
>>27833311
Then why not get a hot hatch that's actually fun on a track like a Civic Type R? You could get an M2 for that money as well
>>
>>27832985
I'd get the Golf, that BMW looks like it's missing a chromosome
>>
>>27833022
>I just want a sporty daily driver
both of those are shitboxes and unreliable ones.
The money you are putting in these shits are used carrera s money, viper money (yes, even for eu), corvette money (any c6 and older, maybe c7) and ferrari 360 money.
first tyre change or break job.
ohh, boy, it's gonna hurt your anus.
are you planning to spend thousands of euros to keep a bmw or a vw on the road?
if you are capable of adding 10% to your budget, you are up for lotus exige 2gr, it not a faux sports car, it's a sport car, you will be able to clap everyone on the road, it has a toyota engine and you will be able to sell it in 5 years more than you got it.
first gen s3 is also pretty good, cheap to keep it on the road, economic, can go for less than 10k €, you will find plenty around 300hp and you won't get suicidal if something happens to it.
>>
>>27833537
In what world is the brake job for a VW or BMW expensive, are you going to the dealership dressed like a woman?

Golf R drives the best of the two. They have the magna rear diff that works a lot like the one in the last gen Focus RS and makes the car easy to rotate.

That gen of BMWs is pretty much a Mini Cooper Clubman S JCW anyways.
>>
>>27833311
How long have you lived there and how many times have you gone so far?
>>
>>27832985
>two wrong wheel drive kraut shitboxes
I'd take the bullet to the brain instead, preferably
>>
>>27833797
I’ve lived her all my life. Around 20 times. I typically tag along a friend of mine because he owns a viper
>>27833537
I’ll take a look at the lotus
>>27833359
I’m considering the CTR actually! They are just super rare over here and I’ve been told getting parts for it often takes weeks
>>
>>27833617
>brake job for a VW or BMW expensive
I can buy z51 c7 front brake rotors 680€/pair
I can buy golf r front brake rotors for 728€
both slotted
what kind of faggot pays more for maintanance than a corvette, to drive around in a golf?
for sure, not me.
for the polo 1.2 tsi the recommended shocks go for 700€... for a fucking 100hp shitbox.
I don't care what car you, OP or anyone buys, but let's put the maintanance into perspective and what you get back.
for 50k you can get more fun and more dependable cars even if used.
>>
>>27834513
It sounds like your dealers are a bunch of scammers. This is a online VW dealership parts department in Ohio, the rears are $72 each.
>>
>>27834529
I was thinking the same
>>
>>27834529
If you decide to go with brembo or something it gets even cheaper. Like 50% less than oem
>>
>>27832985
Civic Type-R.
Far better to drive and doesn't depreciate like a rock.

Golf R, it's not even close
stage 1 tune puts you at 450hp
>>
>>27833022
GR86 is not a sports car, and I own one
it's impressively slow, and has very shit handling with the tires it came with.
>>
>>27832988
>camaro RS 0-60 5.4 seconds
>Golf R 0-60 3.9 seconds
lmao
>>
>>27835016
If it's impressively slow I'd like to know what your standards are for decent and fast look like. It's in the same straight line category as a E36 M3, S2K, or WRX.
>>

>It's in the same straight line category as a E36 M3, S2K, or WRX.
those are slow cars....
>>

^This
I have a lotus emira, mk8 golf R, and a mk4 R32as well, they would all beat it easily, it's just not a good car, they released a supercharger for it, and that kit still only produces 60 more horsepower, but still wouldn't be even in the same league as a golf

they were fast 20 years ago and 220whp s2ks still go fast enough around a track. pic related is slow

whats a fast car look like to you then, pagani huayra or mclaren senna?
>>
>>27835093
GR86 is heavy for what it's supposed to be
>>
>>27832985
2007 chevy trailblazer
thank me later
>>
>>27835092
a r32 is slow too, that makes 210-220whp in a 3400lb car, unironically a gr86 is faster than that and probably the mk8 r if the driver is a retard/pussy

>>27835097
its 2800lbs, its 400lbs lighter on avg than anything else in its class. next lightest is 3100lbs

it runs high 13s in the 1/4, the way /o/ talks about it you'd think they all drive hypercars and liter bikes
>>
>>27835105
R32 is a cruising machine, the gr86 driver would instinctively stay behind it just to hear the greatest engine noise ever made.
>>
>>27833022
>I just want a sporty daily driver. Single no kids, but I’m very tall,
you should fit in a BMW 240i or M2 if it doesn't have the sunroof option
>>
>>27835117
lol

Mk8 Golf R is humblemechanic approved.

>the rears are $72 each.
in a discussion for front rotors on a golf r 8 in eur you bring rear rotors for golf r 7 in usd.
the euro prices include 19 to 24 % VAT.
fuck this shit, I am wasting my time with mutts.
>>
>>27835832
>the euro prices include 19 to 24 % VAT
Oh no, $90 for the rotors, the horror
>>
If you go with the Civic Type R do yourself a favor and nab a damper module from an Integra Type S. Makes a world of difference.
>>
>>27832985
I can tell you from experience that the average price is bullshit.
>>
>>27833022
Best daily I had was an Mk7 GTI. Cheap to run, cheap to maintain, not too bad on taxes and insurance, decently quick (especially after the remap), handled pretty well and the diff was like magic, comfortable enough when I had to drive longer distances.
IMO going for something like an R/M135/A45 it's a waste of money since with that kind of money you can either have a nice daily+weekend car or move up into something like a C Klass/3 series
>>
>>27834513
Nigga you're getting scammed hard
>>
>>27832985
I would buy a golf
>>
>>27837018
OP here. Yeah I’m heavily leaning towards the Golf.
All the other options/competitors seem like a sidegrade (at best) for people who simply don’t want to be a „boring“ Golf owner.
I like the timeless design language though.
