Bought and sold many shitboxes in my time there. First things, all you need to actually buy a car is:-yourself-a pen-drivers license (when buying from a dealer)If you are buying private, literally all you need to do is turn up, pay the guy, sign the title, get a bill of sale, and drive away. After this point, you need to get insurance for the car (on your own, call a provider and give vin and all that) then head on down to the RMV to get it registered. You pay your fees and taxes, get plates, then have a month to get the car inspected. Its honestly a real simple process.
