My dad has never owned a fun car in his life and is having a mid life crisis
He wants to get a fun car now but still wants to be cheap as possible, reliable, practical... Around $30k-$40k budget.
How do i convince him to get a challenger r/t over a mustang ecoboost?
I would really like for him to experience the V8 life, as i own my own v8 muscle car already, and ecoboosts are college kids' cars, not for a 50 year old who has a ton of money.
He says he doesnt trust turbos all that much, but that the r/t might be a bit expensive. Can you really convince a dealer to knock a couple grand off of these already low prices?

No
>>

Why? Theyre already like way under msrp. Stellantis is in panic mode, trying to get these off the lots to make room for the new charger

none of these are "fun" cars to be honest. zero sovl, and they're not even fast enough to make up for it. something like a boxster, cayman, z4, c4/5/6 corvette, maybe an old 240z, there's a long list of cars for that budget that would be way more interesting than those soulless boats

So it's really 13.5 vs 13.7. Not exactly "wiping the floor". Also 10 speed auto against 6 speed manual and the manuals have long been known to be slower in the 1/4.

5.7 Challenger is a lethargic boat that needs to get to 80mph before it comes alive. There is a reason why the Scat Packs were flying off lots but the lower spec models have sat on lots with massive discounts nearly a year after production ended. The R/T trim is like bait to say you own a Hemi.
Speaking of production, these things have been functionally identical for the last 5 or so years so finding a used one in good condition won't detract from the experience. R/T models don't hold their value particularly well so you can get them in the low 30,000s.
They have lifter and cam issues even with good maintenance. Finding one with the TR6060 is also hard. The ZF is great but is it really a muscle car if you aren't doing the shifting?

>>27939486
Your attempts at shilling this thing have ruined its reputation on this board.
>>
>>27939247
>Theyre already like way under msrp.
You clearly don't know how the automobile industry works. Dealerships have purchased their inventory with loans, and they're already operating on slim margins.

They make their money on market adjustment fees, warranty and out of warranty work.

If he wants the Ecoboost, let him get it. Just don’t get one from 2015-2019, and try to find a 2020+ High Performance Package. They are fun cars that are way more nimble than a Mustang has any business being.

Pic related, my previous car. EB HPP + Handling Package
>>
>>27939589
Aren't all these cars too low to the ground? OP's father is most likely obese and has never worked out in his life, getting out of a low car will be a nightmare.
>>
>>27939910
How was the reliability? Steering feel? They're pretty easy to find for $20-25k and it's tempting. Depreciation has treated them like any other Mustang Ecoboost while a high mileage S550 GT is still $26-30k. They made a surprising amount so it's not hard to find.
>>
>>27939940
challengers were literally designed with obese geriatrics in mind.

Steering feel was meh, like all S550s. It came with Pirelli P Zero Corsas, which had amazing grip. It was very flat while cornering hard, and the Magneride was firm. Try to find a handling package car to get the Magneride upgrade.

I traded it to get a Mustang GT. It’s a boat in comparison, but it’s a very powerful, comfortable boat.

>>
>>27940113

Pop the trunk and fold the back seats down on both. The Chally is worlds more compatible with doing boring daily life tasks than a Mustang.

Also, just get him behind the wheel of both. If he isn't grinning like a little kid after hearing that 5.7L V8 in action, he deserves to drive something with an unmoddable Ecoboom engine.

>why does everyone put those ugly fucking yellow shits on challengers?
They're meant to protect the splitter for damage during transport and to be removed after sale. For whatever reason, a decent chunk of people don't realize they're not meant to be on the car permanently and just leave them there.

The Challenger is a far more practical car. However the 5.7s got some issues like low idle oil pressure that wipes cams.
he should get the V6, it's got no bullshit. It's not as fast but it's also exceedingly reliable and handles better than the V8.

Challenger/chargerfags don't realize that they are just brightly colored splitter protectors for the dealership and leave them on. Dealers have caught on to this and don't bother to take them off, and get surprised when someone asks them too.
