My dad has never owned a fun car in his life and is having a mid life crisisHe wants to get a fun car now but still wants to be cheap as possible, reliable, practical... Around $30k-$40k budget. How do i convince him to get a challenger r/t over a mustang ecoboost?I would really like for him to experience the V8 life, as i own my own v8 muscle car already, and ecoboosts are college kids' cars, not for a 50 year old who has a ton of money. He says he doesnt trust turbos all that much, but that the r/t might be a bit expensive. Can you really convince a dealer to knock a couple grand off of these already low prices?
>>27939228>Can you really convince a dealer to knock a couple grand off of these already low prices? No
>>27939236Why? Theyre already like way under msrp. Stellantis is in panic mode, trying to get these off the lots to make room for the new charger
>>27939228Dont do it , there is nothing smart in buying "cheap premium car"
>>27939228tell "your dad" that he should probably go on a diet and stop spending so much time on the internet
>>27939279Is having a dad just such a foreign concept to the people on this board?? Half of you are raised by single mothers and and step dads kek >>27939265wrenchlet problem
>>27939228>fun car>dodge challengerwut?
>>27939228>He wants to get a fun carTake him to a Skip Barber weekend and let him play around and learn how to driveIf you loved him, you'd pay for ithttps://www.skipbarber.com/courses/3-day-racing-school/https://bondurantracingschool.com/https://www.biggarage.de/info/driving_academy.html
>>27939326Funner than a fucken 2014 subaru outback
>>27939346A walk is funner than a fucking outback. Find him a proper sports car, go for used. You should know enough about cars to not get swindled.
>>27939478this, find him a camaro. as the best handling car for under 150k, nothing competes. there's a reason racing driver Randy Pobst owners one, after having driven everything else there is.
>>27939486>I was merely pretending
>>27939228>How do i convince him to get a challenger r/t over a mustang ecoboost?both are unbelievably fucking gay, but the mustang is less gay than any other modern muscle car.
>>27939507i dunno man, we're talking about ecostangs here
>>27939551Even an Ecotoot will wipe the floor with an R/T though. Not to mention it handles and stops better too.
>>27939551is your dad an overweight mexican/nigger?
How come amerishit cars go way under MSRP but when I want to buy a bmw or Porsche something it's way above MSRP on used vehicles
>>27939228Tell your dad to get a motorcycle. Cheaper, funner, and you look cooler.
>>27939559supply and demandIf you go to another country, american cars are a lot more expensive than they are here, and domestic cars are cheap
>>27939554
>>27939554>>27939578shiet challybros what's our response?
>>27939228none of these are "fun" cars to be honest. zero sovl, and they're not even fast enough to make up for it. something like a boxster, cayman, z4, c4/5/6 corvette, maybe an old 240z, there's a long list of cars for that budget that would be way more interesting than those soulless boats
>>27939589me like to mash gas pedal and car go weee but too dangerous without car correcting my shit driving
>>27939554>stats omit a 1-ft rollout of 0.3 secondSo it's really 13.5 vs 13.7. Not exactly "wiping the floor". Also 10 speed auto against 6 speed manual and the manuals have long been known to be slower in the 1/4.
>>27939582Cope. Like>>27939630They didn't test an auto Challenger but here's the Charger which is essentially the same car. .1 of a second isn't going to make a difference in getting beaten by an Ecotoot. Let alone once the road starts to bend.
Get him a used Jag
>>27939478>go for usedHahahahahahahahahha the old man hates used cars. Wont even get something below 1000 miles He had a bad experience with a used car that destroyed itself on the highway like 25 years ago before i was born >>27939554>wipe the floorYou dont belong on this board lmao >>27939589>sovlNothing with less than 8 cylinders has sovl, and i think he wants something bigger than a vette
>>27939562Telling OP's dad to commit suicide isn't exactly fun anon. Motorcycles are a nice concept but I believe half of the drivers in this country do not belong on the road.
>>27939336See this answer makes the most sense. He'll either get over his phase quick or he'll love it so much he sticks with it.
>>27939764>He'll either get over his phase quick or he'll love it so much he sticks with it.Valid but im not paying for it lol. Investing your own money and time into something makes you appreciate something more than a gift. >>27939336He's not really even into racing or driving fast. Just wants something a bit cooler than an outback. Hes literally not an auto or driving enthusiast.Imagine you are not into watches for example, dont know anything about them, but still think you need something good looking and classy. You dont need to go to a rolex museum to appreciate watches first.
>>27939781>Valid but im not paying for it lol.Is supporting your parents when they retire such a foreign concept to the people on this board??
>>27939781Tell him to buy a used Pontiac G8 GXP or a Challenger ScatPak so he can go to takeovers
>>27939697>You dont belong on this board lmaoYou're here posting about what someone else should do with their money, and you're coping about a V8 Challenger being slower than a Ecotoot Mustang. Post your car gaylord.
>>279392285.7 Challenger is a lethargic boat that needs to get to 80mph before it comes alive. There is a reason why the Scat Packs were flying off lots but the lower spec models have sat on lots with massive discounts nearly a year after production ended. The R/T trim is like bait to say you own a Hemi.Speaking of production, these things have been functionally identical for the last 5 or so years so finding a used one in good condition won't detract from the experience. R/T models don't hold their value particularly well so you can get them in the low 30,000s.They have lifter and cam issues even with good maintenance. Finding one with the TR6060 is also hard. The ZF is great but is it really a muscle car if you aren't doing the shifting?>>27939486Your attempts at shilling this thing have ruined its reputation on this board.
>>27939247>Theyre already like way under msrp. You clearly don't know how the automobile industry works. Dealerships have purchased their inventory with loans, and they're already operating on slim margins. They make their money on market adjustment fees, warranty and out of warranty work.
>>27939848He's not retired. he has a pretty cushy job and sitting on 30 years of career >>27939868if i wanted to recommend a fast car i would recommend a tesla. The sound alone of a 350 hp r/t shits on the fastest ecoboost in the world. Something benchracers and busirders wouldnt understand
>>27939228If he wants the Ecoboost, let him get it. Just don’t get one from 2015-2019, and try to find a 2020+ High Performance Package. They are fun cars that are way more nimble than a Mustang has any business being. Pic related, my previous car. EB HPP + Handling Package
>>27939589Aren't all these cars too low to the ground? OP's father is most likely obese and has never worked out in his life, getting out of a low car will be a nightmare.
>>27939910How was the reliability? Steering feel? They're pretty easy to find for $20-25k and it's tempting. Depreciation has treated them like any other Mustang Ecoboost while a high mileage S550 GT is still $26-30k. They made a surprising amount so it's not hard to find.
>>27939940challengers were literally designed with obese geriatrics in mind.
>>27939943Steering feel was meh, like all S550s. It came with Pirelli P Zero Corsas, which had amazing grip. It was very flat while cornering hard, and the Magneride was firm. Try to find a handling package car to get the Magneride upgrade. I traded it to get a Mustang GT. It’s a boat in comparison, but it’s a very powerful, comfortable boat.
>>27939891>he didn't post his V8 powered car while doing all this copingColor me surprised.
>>27939960
>>27939940No hes skinny and goes to the gym
>>27939228your dad needs a chally wally, V6 so it's a nice practical car when he gets over being old.
>>27939970True, he did say he's looking into an SXT or GT, but i feel like a couple grand more and he could have an r/t He wants leather seats is all
>>27939910Can't get a ecoboom with a clutch pedal new and OP specified wanting a fun car and later said used is out of the question. >>27939697
>>27940005So why would he consider an auto only and much slower V6 Challenger?
>>27940113Because my dad has never bought a turbocharged vehicle in his life and said he prefers not to Im sure the V6 challenger will be the fastest car hes ever driven, which is either a fun happy statement or a sad one depending on your perspective
>>27940156You dad has never driven a high 14s car? Abysmally sad.
>>27940168>1995 Mazda MX 6>1999 Toyota Camry>2004 Hyundai Elantra>2008 Honda Odyssey>2014 Subaru Outback (currently owned)>2014 Dodge Grand Caravan>2024 Honda Pilot (currently owned)I think he did have a motorcycle back in the day but quit after his leg got pretty injured a crash. If you're wondering about the Pilot purchase, I can't understand it either. Just me and my mother at home and he thought a pilot would be good kek.
>>27940174>Just me and my mother at homeI dont know why i wrote this, I meant just my father and my mother at home* Both his kids moved out
>>27939228why does everyone put those ugly fucking yellow shits on challengers?
>>27939228>How do i convince him to get a challenger r/t over a mustang ecoboost?Pop the trunk and fold the back seats down on both. The Chally is worlds more compatible with doing boring daily life tasks than a Mustang. Also, just get him behind the wheel of both. If he isn't grinning like a little kid after hearing that 5.7L V8 in action, he deserves to drive something with an unmoddable Ecoboom engine.
>>27942611>unmoddable Ecoboom engine.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z58nOKpPrDwMustang Ecoblowitoutyourass - 8.5s 1/4 milehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76OeWlHlvsgChallenged Rentashit - 11.8s 1/4 mileProtip: you will never see a Charger or Challenger that breaks out of the 500hp range because of this.
>>27940197>why does everyone put those ugly fucking yellow shits on challengers? They're meant to protect the splitter for damage during transport and to be removed after sale. For whatever reason, a decent chunk of people don't realize they're not meant to be on the car permanently and just leave them there.
>>27939228Just do drugs with hookers way cheaper and more fun
>>27939228The Challenger is a far more practical car. However the 5.7s got some issues like low idle oil pressure that wipes cams.he should get the V6, it's got no bullshit. It's not as fast but it's also exceedingly reliable and handles better than the V8.
>doesn't want a used car>can only spend 30-40k>wants something funBMW 230?>>27939697>Nothing with less than 8 cylinders has sovl,Dumbest statement ITT
Hate to share the road with u and ur pops and all the other creature retards this thread is a vomit factory get a miata and don't drive it and shut the fuck up alrdy
>>27943117>get a miataEwww.
>>27939228Your dad should not even look at a 23 Challenger since they haven't changed shit from the 2015 refresh. Look used for a better deal
>>27940197Challenger/chargerfags don't realize that they are just brightly colored splitter protectors for the dealership and leave them on. Dealers have caught on to this and don't bother to take them off, and get surprised when someone asks them too.
>>27939228Have him get a used C5 corvette like everyone else
>>27940174>dad's first car was a 95Are you old enough to be posting on this website?
>>27939228>fun, cheap, reliable and practicalplease inform all of us when this unicorn is found in the wild
>>27943865Im 22. IDK what my dad had before that.
>>27943865Anon, '95 was almost 30 years ago.
>>27939228>ecoSHITCorvette is always the answer
>>27939697>Seems to only want nigger options.>For only nigger reasons.Be honest OP. It's you, not your dad looking for a car, you got swindled by some Iranian, and to cap it all off, you're black
>>27944464If 30 years ago was his dad's first car. And OP is 22.... I'm betting his parents are within 20 years of him.
>>27943375Kek I knew a fag that specifically put those on when he put a splitter on his regular nig mobile.
>>27944543I think your math is wrong. My dad was 19 in '95, and 26 when i was born in '02
Id get a mustang GT, s550s are getting kinda cheap
>>27943375They know perfectly well why those were used. It's the same thing as leaving the price tag on a flat-brimmed cap or insisting on original packaging.
>>27939336Imma vote for this. Instead of just jumping into a 30k stellantis product. You and him can speed sometime together.https://www.flyfighterjet.com/
>>27939781>im not paying for it lolThen why did you make the post op?>bit coolerIf he is so vain as to only care about looks about this? Would fit the nigger mindset perfectly.
>>27939228>be young guy>too poor for a fun car>drive a shitbox instead>get career, have money>fun car put on hold for pragmatic reasons; mortgage more important than car>marry some bimbo who shits out a few kids>get station wagon, minivan, SUV, or large crossover (depending on the decade when this happened)>spend the next few decades prioritizing space for the kids, fuel economy, price, reliability, etc>years pass>you’re in your mid to late 40’s>kids finally taking care of themselves (own cars, maybe even moved out of the house)>have built a career with much higher income>house is paid for>can finally afford the fun car you’ve wanted since you were like 13>iT’s A mIdLiFe CrIsIs!!1!Fuck you and anyone who actually believes this nonsense. I have a coworker in this exact position. His kids (twins in fact) just graduated college so he’s buying a fucking Corvette. Why? Let’s reiterate:>1. He’s wanted one for decades>2. He can actually afford it now.
>>27939228My dad threw way too much money into a shit RX8 and still loves it>I got it to 95 on 95 todayYour dad should get a camaro/mustang as others have said, and just have fun with it. Nogs are stealing challys like crazy
