Turns out spending large % of the purchase value on top of regular maintenance is a big no no.Its almost as if these trends goes in waves, where some of them come back after people forget WHY the last time around the trend was left behind after a few years. Also the need for a open coupe has basically died as car AC systems has gotten cheaper and more reliable.
