The GR Yaris engine has been making upwards of 400whp in several demo cars since its release. None of them have had any issues being beaten on in track days and test drives, even drift and rally events.
When HKS built their demo car their goal was to test the limits of durability for the engine. And they've had zero problems since launch.

I own a GR86 as a 24-year-old and it's really fun, it can take tighter turns 20 MPH faster than a Mustang Coyte or a hellcat can take and beat them out constantly on roads around these parts, haven't even gotten as much as an air-intake on it! Though did get some tires that make it have 1.12 lateral G's. Gr86 is quite a capable grip car. A turbo/supercharger and now you're going toe to toe with Porche GT3's.

the 86's first gear ends at 59 mph. the c&d time is not possible by a normal driver.

>The GR86 is faster in a straight line and handles better than the V6 Chally, I know this because I've driven both.

i have also driven both and they're basically the same, both basically larger miatas.
the challenger has better handling but less apparent lateral grip because of its high mass which makes it weirdly better at doing the stupid shit the GR86 is marketed towards. the 86 is light and corners well but it doesn't slide as easily nor is it as smooth or easily-controlled, it also has less power and just can't accelerate out of corners as easily.

chally has a retard filter however in that you must install your own lsd while 86 is a newfag-friendly package for redditors and women who can't bench press a 90 lb hellcat diff

First gear on the 86 tops out at 36 mph, Second tops out at 60 mph.

>possibly driving the car in a deleterious way to make it seem faster
The focus on 0-60 times as the only metric of gauging acceleration does warrant this, if the question was 0-100 we wouldn't be having this problem.

My takeaways with regard to the handling of the two cars are the exact opposite of yours somehow, even though we both agree the Chally is in fact heavier. The lighter 86 and shorter wheelbase feels very planted and far more controllable in a slide in my experience but the tires have a lot to do with that. If you're driving the premium with the Pilot Sports on 18s the car will be far less willing to break lose while the base model Primacys on 17s are far more fun.

The next time I go around a V6 Chally on the outside of a corner I'll record it, though at the end of the day its really a matter of taste and ability.

>my zf8 shifts in 100 ms all day

Idk why anons are crying over it being a 3cyl
A 3cyl 1.6l has more torque and is more reliable than a 4cyl 1.6l
The GR Yaris engine has proven itself as reliable and able to make considerably more power without major modifications
>>
Isn't the BRZ chassis set up for a low COG from a boxer engine?
Also, there is zero reason to get a Supra or any other performance car if you are going to track it, since a harrop supercharger is an easy bolt on, 9k at your doorstep, and lets you have a 39k car that outperforms everything else.
Sadly, we are not seeing the same thing as when Ford dealers were slapping on warrantied superchargers out the door, they definitely should.

I get your point but to play devil's advocate, there's no other car with those attributes you mention out there. They all died over at least over a decade ago.

Same weight, worse handling (its a 30 year old design, get real)
Talking about engines blowing up right now with a rotary in the conversation, come on man. Boost in seals out.

Have the laws of physics changed in the last 30 years? I'm pretty sure they haven´t. Suspension on the gr86 isn't also particularly more sophisticated than the FD, either.

If you mean in terms of maximum grip, then sure tires a lot more grip now than they used to have, but why would the FD run on 30 year old tires?

The new ones suck ass to drive. Completely neutered, the rev hang is atrocious and the extra power they make is a moot point because it's still gay and slow.

It isn't lightweight? The only way it could possible be lighter if it was a kei car.
