The dyno tests can be a little bit in misleading.
The way the LT5 makes torque is pretty terrible.
That's part of the reason why they were so slow.

Anon, it was built by mercury marine, a boat company, hence the boat motor joke.

Most days I drive a Tundra and the 3ur-fe in my Toyota truck is about the same power wise as the LT5. 380-400hp is adequate but also nothing special out of a 5.7 v8.
