*blasts cardboard into your crankcase*
>>28070086Ever since wix sold out I've been getting denso filters and they're fantastic. Good inner structure with large holes instead of that perforated shit, and they have this flat paint that lets you grip it even with oil on your hands.
it literally doesn't matter if you change it every oil change at 5k like you're supposed towhite can supertechs claim 99% filter efficiency for 1/3 the price because they're cardboard too
>just works
>>28070104>it doesn't matter if the end cap and pressure relief valve leak from the first day and allows unfiltered oil back into the engine
>>28070586It's going to keep circulating, the filter paper is supposed to catch the unwanted shit.
>>28070086I use these cheap ass filters. Never had a problem but I always change them every 5K miles
>>28070697You don't even understand how an oil filter is designed. The bypass valve in the end cap prevents oil starvation of the engine if the filter media becomes clogged.Fram uses a cardboard end cap on most of their filters, which leaks. So oil literally takes the bypass circuit instead of being filtered. The also have shitty anti-drainback valves. They're a garbage company that dumps money into advertising, which increases sales. People think they're good because they saw a commercial during their favorite show. Every test proves they're trash. No auto manufacturer has their own oil filter plant. 100% of manufacturers outsource their filters to companies like Wix, Purolator etc.Fram is an oem supplier for zero manufacturers.
>>28070097>Ever since wix sold outhow so?last WIX filter I used on my race car looked fine when I cut it open. even after 290F ish oil temps
>>28070947>Fram is an oem supplier for zero manufacturers. They used to be oem for Honda, not sure if they still are
>>28071116They're still the OEM for Honda's 15400-PLM-AO2 filter, I run it myself with no issues.
>>28070086You use this shit, it's your fault. It was common knowledge, thirty years ago, that they were fucking garbage.
>>28070950I still use wix. They're fine.
Engines aren't as fragile as you think
>>28071116They're for some Harley models, I know the chrome one that they charge 50 bucks is a Fram with the HD logo slapped on it.
I'm going to try these and let you guys know how they work.
>>28071542Good luck, cartridgebro
>>28071474Used literally nothing but these on my 2001 Cavalier and it finally died with 261k miles on the engine.
>>28070097>Ever since wix sold out
>>28070104supertechs use metal endcaps, they're literally better than fram garbage while being cheaperFram is so shit, if I see the orange can of death on your engine, it's a pretty good indicator that the engine has been abused to hell and shit like the timing belt or ATF have never been changed.
>>28070950>>28071787They sold to Mann and Hummel, who instantly moved all manufacturing to china, including the XP line that used to be made in the US. If you get a new one instead of old stock it literally looks like a knockoff, with perforated metal structure instead of open holes, fewer pleats, and nonexistant quality control to the extent that you can get filters where the internal perforations do not pierce the inner layer and you have zero oil flow through it. Napa even went to someone else to make their gold line filters after the acquisition.
>>28070086whats the best filter to use if you never change your oil? my car burns oil so i just add a new quart every thousand miles. I haven't changed the oil in 4 years
>>28071948Retards like you are why engines fill with sludge and other deposits.
the orange ones may be shit, but the ultra filters are legitimately good
>>28071970the fram ultra filters are what fram orange used to be many years ago, and they're even cheaping out on those too, they're slowly removing niceities like two-ply filters and wire backing from the ultra and moving them to the synthetic endurance line for a whopping $14 a filter.
>>28071964OH NO WHO WILL SAVE THE POOR NEGLECTED ENGINES
>>28071997you mean who will save you from having an inoperable heap of shit in a few years
>>28071997>heh, I'm not like you plebs who take care of your things>WHAT WHY DID MY ENGINE BLOW UP SAVE ME NIGGERMAN THERE WAS NO WAY TO PREDICT THIS!
>>28071997Morons like you are why I can't trust reliability charts
>>28071911ffffffuuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkk
>>2807199741 %
>>28072078they're easy to understandreliability = higher tolerance for neglect
>>28071911First moog, now wix, mfw
>>28072592Not reallyI'm pretty sure the scale is skewed against cheap shitboxes because people don't give a fuck about those
>>28071948The physically largest filter that can fit on your car.You still ought to change the filter a couple times a year. There's no guarantee the bad stuff in the oil is all making it out of where the oil is getting out.On my vehicles that I care about I only use the OEM brand. They're perfectly minimaxed already because they have to be cheap enough that dealers can use them in bulk and still make money on oil changes, but built well enough that the manufacturer is willing to stake their engine warranty on it.
>>28070086I only buy ACDelco
>>28074465>they have to be cheap enough that dealers can use them in bulk and still make money on oil changes, but built well enough that the manufacturer is willing to stake their engine warranty on it.That's how I justify using em, I figure Honda is using this filter on 315hp type Rs that cost $47,000 so it's not gonna blow up my piece of shit that doesn't even have boost.
>>28074465>still make money on oil changesNo dealership makes money on oil changes. They make money on the big work, engine/transmission repair etc.
