>>
>>28077178
>High revving automatic CM doing 60 in 1st sooooon

but thats retarded
>>
>>28077428
That's my concern with it, CM is not for rev, it's actually pretty revvy for something that's a large economy cruiser at 6200 rpm on the shifts, 6500 if you manually shift it without really gaining anything, save the CM for daily driving and road trips where it really shines.

I am in Australia and I would like to buy a Honda Jazz 2nd generation. I would like an automatic and I think the 1.5 liter engine would be a good idea because the only criticism I ever see against this car is that the 1.3 liter engine is not powerful enough.

I would prefer yellow or red

These fittings are so fucking hard to torque down because of the shift cables
Automatic bros stay winning
>>
>>28077963
I wish we were winning, an automatic CM Accord's shift lever is cable operated too, and we can't even clutch drop start it if the battery is weak or the starter is dead like manualbros.
>>
>>28077968
Are there two that are that bulky and stiff? Didn't know it wasn't all electronic and automagic, but you guys got real cable throttles too
I do like our electronic throttle after customizing the settings on the hondata tho
>>
>>28077972
Yeah the 2003-2005 CM K24 were the only ones with cable throttle, it's the best throttle response you can get in a non tuned daily car, it doesn't turn into a beast at 6000 rpm like the K24A2, but at low RPMs around town the cars run the same which is cool
>>
>>28077978
I've looked at pictures of automatic TSX being worked on, and the shift lever is only one big cable, and it's the same as a CM Accord.
>>
>>28077981
That would make a difference
If i was smart i would have taken the airbox off and detached the cables, but i love to suffer
>>
>>28077988
>but i love to suffer
It's not your fault Anon, Honda is the one who built the car in such a way that it makes sense to drop the subframe if you want this shit done in one day, same thing if you see an automatic car seeping oil or transmission fluid on the transmission side of the motor, you know you're in need of a subframe-out job to fix that rear main and torque converter seal, luckily it's a rare occurrence unlike blown steering rack but it happens.

There were the vredestein quatrac 5 on your 205/50 size
Were you looking at the ecsta tires in the same size? I'd go the vredestein over that, price was similar enough.
>>
>>28079500
I'm running 195/65/15 on a CM Accord and it's fine, I have 6.5 inch steelies on a large car so 205/65/15 is also acceptable, if you're on a 6 inch wheel, 195/65/15 is big as I would go on a little car, if you're into performance tires, you can get a smaller sidewall like 205/50/15 or 195/50/15, I don't know how wide your wheels are but there are summer tires that exist for little shitbox cars like EK Civics and Miatas, I could even do it on my CM Accord, but the car weighs too much.

Fluid is coming out clean. Just need to bleed it and we're good
>>
>>28079588
Based fluid extractor, your power steering pump looks so much better than my black painted reman unit, they both work but the engine bay looks better and more OEM like than mine, you shouldn't have any more issues from here on as long as you do a suck and fill of the power steering reservoir about as often as you do transmission fluid, my CM will get a drain and fill every year and I evac and pour fresh fluid in right after I pick it up from the stealership, no problems for years now, its dirty fluid that destroys seals, and power steering fluid is so easy to ignore.
>>
>>28079598
I was going to reseal my oem one, but i stripped out a bolt holding it together. Decided fuck it and bought a new one, wasn't going to risk using the old one and blowing this new rack after how much of a bitch it was lol
>>
>>28079619
>but i stripped out a bolt holding it together
Those things are so impossibly tightly assembled, that I don't even know how people reman them in the first place, I tried taking a ratchet to a core I had taken off to see how it worked internally, and I couldn't even get them to turn, you probably need an air gun to get that shit apart, it's amazing how that shitty little pump, lines, and steering rack can handle the 1,500 psi day after day, turning the wheels of these heavy ass cars and not blow apart immediately, but leak some fluid when they're 15+ years old and still technically work.
>>
>>28079626
Yeah i didn't have a 10mm hex socket for my impact and didn't have any luck with a handheld shitty harbor freight hex key
200 dollar idiot tax, i should have bought the socket for 5 dollars
>>
>>28079640
It's pretty shocking how all the tools and effort it costs to even take it apart, and cardone will sell me a reman pump for K24 Accord/TSX for like $60, that's why I just tell guys to buy reman pumps, rack and pinions, starters, alternators from online or the store and have it installed same day with no drama, because it just isn't worth it to even bother re-sealing this with your precious time on this earth and money in tools when you can just exchange the core and get a reman.

Summer tires may not work well, but a good high performance all season tire with M+S rating will suffice in light snow or freezing rain, I've driven my shitbox in 35F with snow on the ground with all seasons and it's fine, so a second set of tires that are all seasons, not quite a super soft snow tire, and are made to work at lower temperatures and can be driven when it's warm are a good idea

>>
>>28085330
I wouldn't bother if you're debating paying people to do work on a car and it's not maintenance on your daily, a K24 swap is a project car that you should be building yourself otherwise you're gonna spend ridiculous amounts of money when you could just buy a K24 Civic or an Accord and have a car that works.

I like to be prepared in case something happens to my car. Last time this happened to my suby i wasn't prepared . it took me a few weeks to figure out what i wanted. I got really lucky to have found my es350. literally never had a problem with it. best car of my life.

currently, I'm thinking if this thing were to shit the bed, it's gonna be picrel. SH-AWD.

I couldn't find a better car within the price and the mileage.

Poor thing was covered in dust from sitting in the showroom for so long, these idiots think it's still 2022 or something where inventory is light and you can ask whatever you want for a car, meanwhile the supply is increased, value of existing cars has fallen on it's ass, people who financed cars in the shortage are getting destroyed financially and they have more cars than they can sell.

The newer 2.4L GT86 bodies are such a guilty pleasure of mine, a torquey RWD coupe with a manual that you can daily drive is something Honda just never gave us, if I were in the market for a "car guy" car, the GR86 is my choice over Miata and Honda offerings because the car is also fucking beautiful, I just hope I get to a point where I could afford a used one before it turns into a Nissan S13 situation where there's just none left.

Had to order a new right rear caliper. Seems like the piston is seizing up and it ruined the pads and rotor. It compresses but takes quite a bit of effort. Much easier for the other side.

The YouTubers making CM air filter tutorials telling people to bend the intake hose at an ungodly angle so it breaks are retarded, you can just disconnect the valve cover breather thing, push the hose towards the engine which feels more natural than bending the joint and just lift the air cleaner cover off to drop a new filter in without causing a vacuum leak.
>>
>>28092216
I do the same thing and never had an issue. You really don't need to bend it much to snake the old filter out and get the new in
>>
>>28092221
I did the same thing first as well, but you and I aren't heavy handed, these tutorials I'm seeing, guys are bending that stupid hose at basically 90 degrees , and your average CM owner who wants to get into doing stuff on their car might see that and cause a vacuum leak for themselves.

>>
>>28094172
Hondas are reliable, the owners are often not, they go and buy an Accord because reliability, it gets to about 150K miles or more of them not maintaining shit and then there's engine and transmission problems, it's no different with toyota, those guys with several hundred thousand miles on their car are maintaining the fuck out of the fluids and doing what's necessary to keep it going, the people who buy Corollas new and don't do the services correctly are gonna run into issues with the engine such as oil consumption as well

You figure out what wheels to get for all-season tires, or are you one of those fags who can get away with the stock 4S? Also, nice color choice fag.

This is actually a question for all the CTR fags - what wheels, where to get them outside of specialty stores or do I have to actually think and find a wheel / tire combo.

P.S. The clutch in the 8th gen Si is way better and the shifter isn't any worse.

>>28087667
They went down to $2,000 over real quick. Like immediately. I would have walked away with an Si if it was an MSRP. You genuinely don't need a Type R is what I realized.

Honestly, the Toyobaru is probably the best bet for driving experience, these things are fuck-hueg.

>>28094172
If you are getting a <$10,000 one, it's all about how it was maintained / what was done to it. Maybe get one from someone here. You will either get a nice car or they will rape you.

I looked at combos on fitment industries and then actually bought from tirerack. When in doubt pilot sport 4's. I run 245/45/18 currently with +45 offset. The ride quality is softer but 20's on the FK8 are definitely better for performance driving. Im broke though so I cant afford to replace those tires. I had like 3 sidewall tears and I've only had the car for a year.

>Plus no overly-rough ride, shitty mpg
Dont get me wrong I love the type R but the type R tax on everything got old really quick. The shitty ride was fixed with 18's and the mpg isnt too bad since gas here is like 3.20 for 93

The sidewall tears were on the pilot sport 4's yeah but thats because the sidewall is pretty much non existent. The blow out wasnt dramatic IE heard pop but the tire didn't fly off the wheel or anything.
First was from a week after going home from the dealership, apparently the tire was so low that it just gave out while highway driving. My own fault for not checking it and holding dealer responsible.
Second time was on fresh tires but my mom lives in the middle of no where down a dirt road and so when I went there the dried up river bed I had to cross had a sharp rock that tore the inner sidewall.
Third time was me miscounting and it never actually happened lmao.

The 18's I currently have are Continental Control contact sports srs+ (because im in college) and they are fine but I definitely prefer the pilot sports. I had the PS4's on my Fk7 and I never had any sidewall tears even when driving on that fucked up dirt road. The side wall is a lot beefier.

The set up I have right now keeps the ride height the same so no issues with clearance or rubbing.
>>
>>28096048
Alright, that makes me less worried, was afraid it was just out of nowhere. I am going to run Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 on the stock FL5 19s for the winter.

Your car looks great, I was driving a green Hyundai Accent in college and then a $1500 (literally) Integra for a bit.
>>
>>28097014

Looking for some advice on buying a used car in Canada. Been car hunting and landed on 2 to choose between.

First one being a 2007 Honda Civic DX-G, It's got 173K mileage on it, Exterior and Interior are clean and fine but with 2 dots of rust on the exterior, has all season tires and comes with 4 winter tires with rims and both being Michelin branded (Forgot to check their dates), and a history of the previous owner bringing it in to Honda for maintenance. I also got to test drive and it drove really well. The price we got with tax and certification was $7263

The second is a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L. It's got 178K mileage on it, Alloy rims, a V6 engine, Tan Leather interior with wood trim, and only one dot of rust on the exterior. The Leather seats cracking mainly in the front however but the dealer said he can redo it for an extra $150. I also never got to test drive it as it was surround by all the other vehicles parked at the dealership, but my father offered to head back there and test drive it to see if there were an issues. The price with tax, certification, and fixing the leather seats is $7150.

Which one should I go for, keep in mind I don't drive a lot or have a garage. Pic rel is the Civic, I don't have a pic of the accord since the dealer only recently got it and hasn't put it up online yet.

>>
>>28100254
I don't know about the accord, from the info we saw it had no accidents. I can try calling and checking again.
>>
>>28100254
Only the v6 accords have a timing belt, don’t know about the civic. I know because I’m selling a 140k mile 2007 exl v6 accord for less than the dealer, but I’m closer to Texas.
>>
>>28100286
Yeah 07 Civic is a timing chain, if the anon was looking at a 2.4L Accord vs a Civic, I would suggest the 2.4L Accord all day.
>>
>>28100286
>>28100291
It's a V6 accord, gonna head in when I don't have work to test drive it myself but my father claimed it drove really nicely, also gonna try and get a maintenance record. Also i just checked and turns out both sets of the tires on the Civic are from 2015.
>>
>>28100303
>both sets of the tires on the Civic are from 2015.
That actually is really concerning, I wouldn't drive a car on tires more than 5 years old, and that could also mean people have not been taking care of this thing, look at it with a good eye, and you can't go wrong with a nice driving Accord V6 either.
>>
>>28100307
>that could also mean people have not been taking care of this thing
Which is odd cause they have paper work showing that they've been consistently bringing it in to Honda for maintenance so that seems very weird that the tires would be neglected.
>>
>>28100316
People are funny that way, but if they have been doing fluids and filters on a Civic, that is a good thing and it could be a car worth buying and then immediately buying a set of tires and alignment for.
>>
>>28100323
Having to buy 2 new sets of tires really jacks up the price of the Civic then and just makes the Accord seem cheaper with only needing to buy 1 set of winter tires for it.
>>
>>28100291
Isn't the canadian dx civic an r18? Not a k?
And the accord he said was a j
>>
>>28100338
If the Accord is better sorted with good tires on it an is cheaper, and leather with a V6, it might be the right play, I have the slow ass 4 cylinder Accord with base cloth seats and it's a comfortable car, 268hp is kind of a beast.
>>
>>28100307
Eh. People forget about them. If they're not slipping in the rain or popping them no one cares.
>>
>>28100430
Kek normies will neglect tires until they fucking die Anon, they're like allergic to paying for a tire plus mount and balance, they don't give a fuck if it's wheel spinning and under steering immensely at 20mph in turns, if it holds air, they don't care.

I have good news.

You may recall, I had what was arguably the most unreliable 11th Gen Accord out there. I have fixed all of the issues with the car and now it runs consistently with and without using the paddle shifters. Even the idle is better at 800 RPM with no vibration, as opposed to 600 and shaking like a leaf. There is some sun damage that I have noticed on the plastic fairing on the trunk (this Accord is a sport model, so it has the plastic body kit). I might not bother treating it for a while, but I will continue to wax the car. I live in Florida, so there is no winning against the sun.

All is well at long last.

If you're living in a clown market like me, Hondas with 2.4L engines in them are about as good as it gets for nice economical cars.

I daily a company truck so I just kept ps4s on my FK8 I'll do the same with the FL5. It doesn't get all that cold in OK, if it does I don't push the tires, and the ~2 days a year it's icy/snowy I don't drive it. If I HAD to get all seasons the DWS06 kick ass.

purchase summer tires and wait until winter is over to use them or just wait until winter is over and then buy them?

I'm getting an oil change and my tranny serviced today. I'm lowkey worried because I've read that tranny fluid service can fuck up your transmission but my car was serviced at 70kmiles and is at 102k now so since it was serviced I should be fine, right?
>>
>>28102633

Based DWS06, I once rode in a 1.8T Golf with 245 wheels and those tires were grippin for a high performance A/S.

Service the transmission Anon, I have a piece of crap Accord with shitloads of mileage and I still service the transmission.

I did 3,495miles between oil changes. Forgive me.

I hope the fuckin CM can forgive me for the neglect, but Hondas are pretty tough, but I wouldn't suggest anyone ever go over 5000 miles on oil, even synthetic oil.

I might buy a euro honda accord 2014 with 240k kms tomorrow for 9k

I take care of it and try not to be too abusive either.
>>
>>28103663
Yeah, let me trust a stranger on the internet over the engineers designing my car. I will change my oil when the maintenance minder tells me to and not a mile earlier.
>>
>>28104353
It's your life bro, Honda only gives a fuck about their cars not having an issue for the 50,000 mile warranty, which it never does have an issue even when you do a 10,000 mile oil change interval, it's when the car has miles will you see an engine with frequent oil changes being in better shape, with less wear, sludge, oil varnish, less oil consumption, than an engine with 3000 mile oil intervals, it makes a big difference, the retard long oil change is only for people who lease Civics or Accords 36 months at a time and don't give a fuck about anything.
>>
>>28104353
blackstone analysis. let us know faget.
>>
>>28104493
The car is almost 20yo with oil changes done with the minder. This whole change your oil each 5k miles made sense in the 80s, now oil is much higher quality. >>28104508
I’m not paying to test my shitbox’s oil. The car will die in 5-10 years and the j series engine cars are not limited by engine life.

The Canadian anon who was trying to buy a used car here. I'm back with some pictures of both of the Cars and 2 new pieces of info. For the 2007 Honda Civic the All season Tires we're manufactured in 2014 and winter ones in 2017, also I stumbled upon another civic, a 2009 Civic EXL with 64K mileage going for $7999 before taxes and certification which seems a little too good a price to believe for me, keep in mind the 2007 Civic goes for $7683 with tax and certification and the honda accord for $7150.

How do I go around protecting my Prelude from Winter salt while it sits in a parking lot? It's not gonna drive while there's salted roads but I thought I could stuff something underneath the car with a car cover to prevent any pushed salted snow making it's way underneath. Unless I'm overthinking this?
>>
>>28105999
Cars only get that shitty slushy salty buildup kicked onto the body when it's driving on a snowy salty Anon, even if the car was sitting outside in a driveway, it shouldn't get destroyed by salt unless some asshole pulls up in a salt trucc and dumps it right on the car with all the moisture involved with winter.

Also I'm pretty sure my Crosstour, which is 10 years older, is superior in every single way. Better fuel economy. Better engine (120hp more), bigger fuel tank, same wheel size, non cvt, better suspension. I feel bad for the bastard...
>>
>>28106053
Based Crosstour, newer Accords not having a double wishbone suspension and a stupid 12.8-14.8 gal fuel tank on the hybrid or 1.5T cars instead of 17.1 gal is a real letdown.
>>
Still having some power steering noise and no clue why. Going to warranty the power steering pump again lol
I can't see any new leaks from the fitting and the orings are new honda ones. Might toss on some new aftermarket ones that came with the pump
>>
>>28106104
For some reason "brand new" Duralast power steering pumps on K series that look all nice and silvery tend to be shit, those cheaper black painted remans from the likes of Cardone and BBB Industries tend to be the ones that work out, I originally tried to put a new Duralast on my CM and the power steering was retardedly stiff and making noises because the pump just wouldn't flow well, and then when I got the reman one from BBB, the steering was fine and you could hear the sound of fluid pumping under the hood.

Either that or air is getting into the system somehow and you'll have to go hunting with a UV light for fluid leaks, but I am suspicious of your power steering pump

I did uv already and found a leaky fitting for the rack to return line, but i cleaned it off and put it back in and don't think it is leaking there anymore. No more glows at least.
>>
>>28106115
Based UV fluid, I was tripping about why the vatzone Honda PS fluid I buy was all green and shit, but they put dye in it to make leaks glow, glad your system isn't leaking, that's the hardest part of hydraulic steering on these things is making it not leak, if nothing is leaking, you might have a weak power steering pump that isn't flowing, which is a shame because the newly build silvery power steering pumps do have that awesome OEM look, but they are defective more than the shitty looking reman ones they sell for $60
>>
>>28106121
Hopefully third times the charm. If not I'll have to buy another one.
Also ordered a new reservoir and the reservoir to pump feed hose. Eery other rubber hose is new, forgot to replace that one because it was a different size and i cut my own from.bulk hose.

You're a better owner than I am, I have new hoses on the reservoir but it's still the same resevoir, good luck with the pump, at least you don't go bankrupt like I do when cuckstomer supplied parts goes wrong at a shop and you're on the hook for a power steering pump job twice.

When do I get my transfer case fluid, differential fluid, and brake system flushed on my crosstour???
>>
>>28108047
I don't know if you've got AWD, but a front wheel drive type car doesn't need the diff fluid changed, the transmisssion basically is your diff and the ATF is regularly changed, but if your Crosstour is a regular FWD, keep going about your business, Anon.
>>
>>28108053
it's AWD and i just did a tranny flush and change on Friday but I think this is my next service.
>>
>>28108056
Good deal, I would do the transfer case fluid whenever automatic fluid change is happening, it's a good thing you're doing them both right now, so that when the interval comes around, you keep doing them at the same time.

Wrenchlet here. Caught an oil leak from around the exhaust manifold on my crv. Shouldn't be from the vtec solenoid because I recently swapped that gasket out. What's the next likely culprit, the valve cover?
>>
>>28109357
Yeah valve cover can leak and drip oil onto the exhaust because of the gangster lean a K24 engine sits at.
>>
>>28109479
Thanks. It's my only ride and I don't want to risk opening anything without having a fresh gasket ready to replace it just in case
>>
>>28109357
Can you feel behind there with your hand?
If not get an inspection mirror and peep that area and around the vtec spool to make sure your new gasket isnt leaky
>>
>>28109609
I'll check asap. When I was looking it over earlier I could tell that the solenoid itself didn't have oil on it but the hose (or maybe a clip covered with a rubber bulb?) and the driver-side screw for the exhaust manifold both had just a bit of fresh oil on them
