One of the biggest ongoing memes on this board is that euro trucks are better built than American trucks.

It’s honestly so laughable once u really start looking into it. All euro trucks are pressed steel unibody boxes. They then have actual plastic faux panels, vents and trims glued all over them. That’s it.

Here in USA. The Peterbilt is made from rust proof aluminum lap seam rivet construction. No faux plastic on our flagship models. It looks like it does because this is utility incarnate. No arbitrary length laws. We are free. Also we have owner operators over here. In Europe only company drivers exist.

This is the most money I’ve ever had on the trailer. 2 different trucks going from ND and SD to NY and CT. They were around $11,500 combined. Loaded them Friday delivered them Monday.
Prob the peak of my trucking career. Sold the stepdeck. Though economy is in the gutter. Looking good though as of last couple days.

I had to drive them up and everything. It’s crazier than u think going up those ramps when ur by yourself. I remember the daycab was overheight from the stack. I cut it off with a hacksaw.

That was a 2016 Peterbilt 389. 280” wheelbase. And my brand new Fontaine 53 slider stepdeck. Felt really good. Everything was new.

Still, I appreciate the potential to have a larger windshield in a cabover. Your front blind spot in a long nose truck is huge. At least in a cabover, if you're sitting up high enough, you can kind of see what's right in front of you.

Nobody needs anything. But every gauge I have serves a purpose. It also lets me diagnose issues before they become a bigger problem.
Fuel filter gauge is paramount. Let’s me see if I have fuel gelling up or fuel filter going bad before it puts me on the shoulder.

Amps gauge lets me know if the truck is charging or not. Saved me more than once. By letting me know my alternator failed and another when my s belt came off.

Suspension load gauge is everyday. I can determine axle weight in real time when getting loaded and not literally lose a day cause I have to turn around and reload.

Tach lets me know how hard I’m hitting Jakes, and how hard I’m pulling hills. Can’t lug up hill which rolls into the pyro gauge. Can’t be burning ur shit up.
Let’s u know how close u are to shift points. Imagine going down a hill loaded and you try to downshift but since ur already at the rev limit you can’t rev higher to down shift. Leading to runaway truck and catastrophie. Imagine overspeedinf ur truck downhill and not knowing it and smoking a $70,000 engine.
This alone makes me know without a doubt how fucking brain dead u are. Like ur literally a retard.

Air filter gauge is nice cause it lets you know when it needs changed

Trans temps and axle temps are all good indicators of something needing repair. And for heavy haul yes, you do need to let them rest after a long pull.

It peaked forever ago. The only way trucks are supposedly getting 8mpg or more now is cause they are 12 liters 6x2 with super singles strategically pulling lighter loads in flat areas. As soon as u get a Volvo vnl loaded and start slogging around in the mountains it’s 5-6mpg like everything else.
