The E32 was a new page for luxury cars and the whole concept of a "modern car".
Before it luxury was having fine leather and woodgrain panels in the interior, maybe a bit of fancy ivory around the gauge cluster and a lazy vee ayte on a soft suspension. After it luxury was to have every single electronic gadget and gizmo in the cockpit to massage your ballsack and ego, equipment lists for days, a fairly firm and "sporty" suspension and road feel.
It could also be considered the reason why every modern car is chock full of useless bullshit, to the point that even base model cars have electronics up the ass and infotainment for days.
It was also the first time an engine was completely computer controlled with no mechanical backup systems, throttle by wire and all.
