What are your go-to brake pads?
$10 rockauto semi metallics.
>>28099028
>>28099028That's a good brand. StopTech is gud. Whatever is on the same truck in my rock auto cart.
>>28099028power stop Z26
>chinese asbestos padsGtfo shill
>>28099028I usually change cars when it's time to replace the brakes
>>28099028I like carbotech’s endurance racing pads. They last a long time on a street/track-day car in my experience, if you’re just screwing around.

>>28099028>>28099035>>28099037>>28099040>>28099049ewie i cant fucking believe what Im reading rn is this a board for hobo poors now? genuine, ebc or brembo are the only acceptable answers. just yikes...
>>28099288Good choice. I hear Dixcel is pretty good, also Winmax or Endless. Basically anything Japanese.
>>28099130Aesbestos raises T
Is power stop any decent or just another rockauto chinkshit?
>>28099028Memebono
I normally get HAWK HPS pads, I also put HAWK Talon rotors on all my cars
Canadian tire OE+ pads. They're just fine but you need to give the 16 year old behind the counter the exact part number otherwise they grab the wrong one 70% of the time.
>>28099314right now the currency rates make jap shit extremely cheap
Raybestos ST43s are amazing.
bosch >>28099087jews are ruining braking by banning asbestos in pads
Vector pads just work. Imagine paying extra for brand name.
>>28099428This guy track days. 43's are the go to for all around consistency. Similar to PFC01. If you've got more experience and really good tires, ST47 was literally developed for road coarse racing. (after ST41 tapered too much but that's a NASCAR short track compound) Ridiculous Mu and thrive in high temps. They will slam the nose down in a turn.
whatever claims to be ceramic, I don't care if it takes longer to brake, I don't want brake noise or dust on my wheels
Mintex 1144
>>28099295>genuine, ebc or bremboGenuine for peeps who like to pay 3x for mystery meat. You have NO IDEA who made those.Brembo doesn't make pads. Brembo branded pads are contract made. mostly by Federal Mog.EBC is a good choice, for your motorcycle.
https://www.primusracingparts.com/PFC-Brake-Pads-f2FFLD20-FOR-AP-BRAKE-CALIPERS-TOP-RATED-PADS_p_33.htmlI use PFC 13 compound on my open wheel car. It's the more aggressive compound but they seem to last plenty long to me.
>>28103196>Brembo doesn't make pads.Eh, not true. They do have their own racing ceramic line coming out of Italy. If you're talking about HP/GT pads then yes, they are most likely a Pagid/TMD custom contract pad. I highly doubt anyone in this thread is buying the RB340 racing pads like in pic rel >>28099950
>>28099295>textar>factory original m sport pads>$140 just for my front pads>hobo poor
No Ferodo mentions yet?
>>28099028TRW
>>28099314i used dixcel on my car, specifically, their z-type pads which they say are suitable for street + circuit. lots of dust, but goddamn they never faded even when just slamming on the brakes constantly on the highway just to see if they really did hold up against fading. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
>>28099028I've bought EBC, Brembo, Roddisons, and Meyle, and none have ever given me problems performance wise. Only thing really of note is that the EBC's (Blue Stuff) were dusty as fuck and used to cake my wheels in shit (pic rel, right is just 3 months after the left pic was taken). Great performance, though, the tyres always gave up from heat quicker than the pads would fade.>>28104196Gonna try them on my mx5 when I next need to change them.
>>28099028Street use: Hawk HPS is HPS 5.0Autocross: DCT30Road Race: Raybestos ST47/ST43unfortunately Raybestos is hella behind with race pads so DCT 70/60 will have to do.Ferodo can suck my dick charging $700 for just front 3.12 pads.
>>28099428>>28099950ST43 are good pa- ACK
I just use the OEM branded Ferodos. Good enough on track and don't squeal like hell on street.
my front pads were $300 and my rears were $80oem brembo
>>28104473>brembo>FF friction coefficient no better than a parts store pad
>>28099028Whatever is middle of the row on rock auto.
>>28104512not that anon.but those HP1000 Brembo pads are 0.45Mu friction coefficient.looks like a slightly modified Ferodo DS2500.parts store stuff is gonna be in the 0.35 range.track pads 0.55+ or even 0.65+ range
>>28104653ntawhy even bother have ratings if FF pads are low GG.I typically use element3's that are rated at GG/GH.
>>28104742what the flying fuck are you talking about Zoom zoom?
Just get duralast gold.
>>28104792
>>28104835I burn through thousands of dollars worth of brake pads a year.I have never seen that chart used or talked about, anywhere.Basically irrelevant because it does not account for temps. My race pads may be 0.35 cold, 0.67 Hot.
>>28099028>asbestos brake pads
>>28099028I've used oem, napa, project mu, and carbotech. So far I like the carbotechs the most. Consequently I have the most miles on them. I have their street pads on all of my cars.
>>28104847>Basically irrelevant because it does not account for tempsBrake pads have a two letter rating, the first letter is low temp friction, the second is for high temp friction. So a pad with a rating of FF will have the same friction rating in both ranges.
>>28104980That sounds like gay shit.A lot of brake pad manufacturers have their own rating systems that don't correlate with others. example: Hawks claims their HP+ is 0.55 Mu.(it doesn't have anywhere near that bite)Ferodo claims their 3.12 pad is about 0.56 Mu.yet it has as much bite as a DCT-70despite the DCT 70 Bosting a 0.67 Mu.
>>28104847>I burn through thousands of dollars worth of brake pads a year
>>28104305Nice, hi performance pads usually emit a lot of dust. Also how can you not love a brand named DIXCEL?
Used to buy and current run Bosch on my Honda. Problem is they don't fit properly and are being made to poor tolerance. They used to be very good. I had to grind it down to fit right.
>>28107049Akebono's are better as a factory replacement pad, especially on anything Japanese.
>>28099028Dont really have a brand to follow but iirc i bought febi for my alfa romeoas for discs i went with brembos
Honda OEM pads are from Akebono or Brembo.
>>28106919>hi performance pads usually emit a lot of dustoh yeah i knew that from the get-go, but wasn't really bothered by it. just mentioned it as an objective characteristic of the pads, nothing a pressure washer can't handle. i cared more about braking performance/fade resistance than anything else.
whatever's on offer on autodoc
>he doesnt make his own pads
>>28104445Ah, I see you posted a pic of some pads that survived a race. Is there any other context? They most likely started out as a 20mm, or possibly 16mm. That is an R701 shape. Yes, some tapering. And glazing on the o.d. which suggests a fitment issue. Maybe the caliper bracket was bent and causing uneven contact on the o.d vs the i.d. There are so many unknown variables. Staggered pistons? Or was this a late model caliper? Did you run temp paint on the rotors? Or even temp strips on the calipers? Oh, that's right, you're just posting a pic of some pads that look like they've been run to hell and back and calling it a failure. I'm curious as to the driver feedback. If those pads made it through an event and the driver decreased lap times, that's a W. If you're going to complain, at least give some data. The first question would be End Stop Temps. You need to know your peak. If you don't have that data, then you have no idea how to diagnose your brake needs. But please continue on with your "-ack" meme
>>28099028EBC or oem. Depends on car.
>>28109570no need to dig that far anon.they just got too hot.400rwhp + 315/30r18 Hoosier A7s is a lot for small 13in brakes on 6 pot wilwood's.even with ducting they got cooked.actually zero taper on them, just the edges crumbled when removed (3,161lb car)ST47s basically don't exist so I'll have to try the Hawk or Ferodoo Pads.16mm pad down to almost nothing.rotor temp paint went to Max (800c)brakes still worked though, went from 1.25G stops to 0.7G.
>>28110013That's some good info. You obviously care enough to collect the data. If you're interested, I checked today and Randall Race Parts has the ST47R701.16's in stock. I don't think I can link here, but google it, fuck the site, it hasn't been updated in years. Call the number that comes up and talk to Mike. Also, put that temp paint deeper into the vanes, and apply some on the inside where the hat bolts into the I.D. vanes. The O.D. is always going to be hotter because it's traveling faster. It'll give you a better idea of saturation. Either way, you got them jokers hot as fuck. Was this circle track? Or road course? It sounds like you had zero strait away cool down. Good luck out there.
Ive gone through a ton of brake pads and glowed a lot of rotors, and for poorfags, i gotta reccomend both the centric posi-quiet semi metallic towing pad, and the quality built semi metallic heavy duty towing pad. The centric is a bit better but harder to find these days, but you can get the quality built on rockauto for ~$30-40. Pic rel is on those pads, they still have over half the life left on them. You have to go hard to break them in, but once they do theyre really good for the price and take a decent ammount of time to fade. I havnt had them fully fade to the point of not working like other pads. If you have $80, the dynamic friction "track pads" on rockauto are better in terms of fade, but they dont last terribly long, and dont come with new hardware. For rear pads get whatevers cheapest im on $24 duralast ceramics and they still are there>>28099428wish they made them for my cars, ive heard good things>>28108579give me the blueprints NOW
>>28110971I can call em, but I doubt they have any ST47s in stock. No one does.Raybestos has basically given up on their race pads, forcing everything to try other brands.I think Raybestos ships maybe 2 tiny 4x4 pallets to porterfield a year.not surprised since they were bought out semi recently.might have to see what the Ferodoo guys have.expensive though.
>>28111260I think you missed the part where I said I checked. I talked to Mike. We used to work together. He's got old stock. And he said the same thing you are telling me. They aren't shipping racing pads. Brake Parts Inc. fucked up when they shipped a bunch of manufacturing down to Mexico around 8 years ago. The plant that used to be in Winchester KY was legit. I got a chance to tour it when we drove up to the PRI show many years ago. Their racing division was outstanding. The OEM side was even better. There were dudes who's job it was to just drive these vehicles outfitted with every sensor you can imagine to test the pads/rotors in daily driving scenarios. Really fascinating stuff. I'm not getting into any more details about it on here since I'm still doing testing and development to this day. It's just sad that they squandered their ST racing series. At one point, they had most of the field in NASCAR running their pads. Then Project Mu came in as well as Brembo(TMD). They still had a bullet proof compound for sportscar and they just fucked it up. Either way. Big Mike's got the pads. I imagine he's got 43's as well. I only asked about the 47's. Do what you do. Good luck out there. Sounds like you've got things pretty well dialed in.
>>28111260I know Clio RS guys swear by Ferodo DS2500s for trackable street pads and CL Brakes for more serious track stuff. Not cheap though, as you said.
>>28112888I managed to order some ST47s from him.they only had the fronts though.Porterfield might have ST45 R302.12 in stock.I usually run ST43 in the rear, but I can add less rear bias & run the 45s.>>28112931I might try the DS2500 for Autocross.those aren't too expensive.it's the 1.11 and 3.12 that are hella $$$
